Have asked him this question of Twitter. He seems pretty good at getting back, has to me a couple of times, so will post an answer if I get one here.God Bless The USAComment

It's not the community but rather mostly those that come out of the woodwork during pre release information.Oh my gosh. now I know why i only come to these forums for sliders/rosters/information.
This is probably the most negative community I've ever looked at. Seriously? That video is already so much better than 2K10. Many of you might not remember 2K10, but I actually just played it yesterday (no lie.)
The core community here is awesome.Joshua:

Re: MLB 2K11 Video: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Colorado Rockies
This sums it up perfectly IMO. It's like 2 weeks before release date the forum becomes filled with 12 year olds who have yet learned that just because THEY think something, doesn't mean WE do. Wish we could add a age limit to boards etc to weed these morons out.
Anyway back to the video, it seems that basing on what other people have said, this could be an earlier build. Either way, I love a lot of the things shown in it but I don't think it was the best representation for what the new things they have implemented play like.God Bless The USAComment

I actually like the batting view and fielding view with the ball off the bat. The graphics may not be up to par with The Show.... but the gameplay might be right up there after seeing this video.
The pitch to home tracks so much better than what I'm used to on The Show.
Wow... I'm actually second guessing which game to get now. That looked absolutely fun.Comment

Re: MLB 2K11 Video: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Colorado Rockies
I understand how some don't like the batting view aesthetically, and the devs have said you can change it to something more traditional.
But for 2K10, I used a very similar camera for batting, as it was really the best way to read balls and strikes, and what pitch type you were getting. I'm not surprised that thy have made this the default, at all.
Despite the the consternation we have seen in this thread, in the big picture, it feels like they have retained the batting that I really enjoyed from 2K10.
I also think the new camera angle after the ball is hit is pretty cool. I love the the impreciseness of the strike zone. All in all, it really is an improved, but still solid hitting interface.
I like that 2K has emphasized fun gameplay over graphical fidelity. I don't mind it looking like a videogame, when they have done such an awesome job with the overall presentation. The 2K games feeds me a ton of great info in a compelling way.
But no matter how positive I want to spin the game, there is no way that this video was the best way to show off this new game. The main reason is resonate with me is that I enjoyed the heck out of 2K10, so it looked familiar in a good way. But 2K10 sold like doo-doo, so the video has to appeal to folks that didn't play 2K10. And I just don't think it did.Comment

Re: MLB 2K11 Video: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Colorado Rockies
Well, looking at the video i came away slightly happy and slightly sad. The same things that have annoyed me for the past years still show, like lack of emotion from players and crowd. And since they really didn't show that much fielding i couldn't see any noticeable changes.
For the life of me for a first gameplay video, there marketing team is either clueless or really just does not care. Cause for the life of me, wouldnt there first video want to show things that are new? or improved? Just dont get it.Good Artists Copy, Great Artists Steal - PicassoComment

I hear ya. I really wish they had a marketing guy who was passionate about baseball, or was at least mindful enough to realize that he should let someone else make the video who knows the game better and can spotlight the improvements.

To expand on that tweet, seeing the game on a big-screen HDTV helped to show off the improved color palette, and that even just the colors really do a lot to improve the graphics in the game. Plus, as some have mentioned earlier, day games look great in 2K, and I played in a day game.
In addition, just seeing the presentation over the course of a couple innings helps to show how everything is syncing up.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

Re: MLB 2K11 Video: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Colorado Rockies
I have already pre-ordered the other game, but I am going to be very confused when March 8th rolls around. I am really tempted to get both, but I may just wait until I get sick of one and then trade the other game in for this one? Ugh I can't decide. The whole fielding system looks great and the analog hitting in this game (for me) is much more intuitive.Comment

He may be up against impossible odds (I don't know what the culture is like inside 2K Games), but Ronnie seems to hurt games' perception more than he helps. That's a problem.Comment
