Seriously, every time I play online against the Knicks and the Nuggets before the trade, Melo would shoot over 50%. It's not even like he is wide open, I'm challenging the shot, sometimes with 2 guys, and he will just swish a fade away three easily. He's a good 3 point shooter but when people are shooting over 50% from three with him, something is wrong.

the key to big time shooters is to mix it up on Defense
sometimes simple things like run zone on em, and a good timed double-team will alter a timed shooter...cause shooting is all about timing.
another school of thought is to make sure no one else is having a killer game.
you can't STOP Kobe, Bron, Melo, Wade...but you can sure slow em down. -

yup, i'm all about mixing the D up, pushing him toward the middle where you have help D. I constantly call double teams on star players if i know i cant hold them out of the pain. i just play tight and direct them towards my teammates and wait for the double to come.
like voltron said, no matter how good your D is, they will still score despite your best effort. all you can do is hope to slow them downmyplayer:

Just played a game against the nuggets in my chise... Melo was pissing me off! He shot 24/30 and ended up with 56 points... but I beat them because he was the only one going off. Final score? 136-132. By the way... I'm the Raptors, without any trades except for getting a second round pick for Ajinca.Comment

Melo is a flat out beast in NBA 2k11. In either MyPlayer or Player lock Association, He kills my SF(The Hulk) on the offensive end of the floor. The good thing about it is I dont feel cheated when he does it, because he is constantly running around screen or faking me out my nikes. And just when I think I have him stopped he dishes a sweet assist to one of his teammates. I'm pretty sure I heard him tell me to hold his belt loop (scared straight joke) the last time I faced him!Comment

I would much rather face a human user than the CPU, at least with a human player there is a chance that they enter the incorrect shot release.

i'd much rather play the computer than humans. I only play Association. I never play online for sports games because too many people play unrealistic and i like to have realistic games. The only game i play online is Call of Duty. Other than that its Associations or Franchises in whatever sports games i play.Comment

For Online try to play with custom settings (custom match). I use the simulation sliders and Real FG% shooting/Free Throw for online games with my friends. Shooting is a lot more realistic. For offline play i use custom sliders from the slider section on here and custom rosters for a more accurate game.Comment

I know what you mean OP, it seems that if he shoots a fadeaway or contested shot he's more likely to make it than if he's open. The night that Melo got traded, every team I was playing online was the Knicks and I lost by a few points to every one of them. The worst thing is, if it aint Melo going of, it'll be Amare. It's just luck I think. You can body them up all you want, a lot of the games come down to luck/momentum (and by that I mean computer momentum where everything seems scripted rather than real life momentum).Comment

lol @ people that hate online play. Must be because there getting beat imo. Carmelo misses just like any other player. Get a good contest and most likely he'll miss. He dunks pretty hard in this game though. Dunks like hes Lebron. Hes dunked over my boy D.Howard multiple times smh.Comment
