i just completed my 3rd franchise won the super bowl 3rd yr in row go into off season and first thing i noticed is all my coaches are fired... except the special teams coach? why the heck would any team let go of all there coaches esp after winning 3 super bowls back to back to back? funny thing is i have it to where im in control not cmp so i had to hire them all back has anybody had this happen to them?

Are you sure they were fired? Or did their contracts just expire...

As other said, their contracts probably just expired.

There's a way to tell:


If next to "head coach" is still says "1/1" but the text is in red, then the guys fired and you need to replace him or he's going to another team.

If next to "head coach" it says 0/1 and the text is white, then you just need to give him a new contract and/or hire a different guy.

One time I had a bad season with the Lions...(went 2-14)... and I was forced to get rid of my coach, it said I needed to hire a new one even though it still said "1/1" in red text.


Not sure if Im making sesne... lol... but most likely it was just coincidence and their contracts were up.

Yea, Madden is really bad at handing expired contracts during simming. It doesn't care if so-and-so player/coach has been in the Superbowl for 3 years in a row, it just releases them as soon as it can.

My star QB was let go after 2 superbowl appearances, lol. Nowadays, I just personally re-sign the contracts and sim everything else. Kind of annoying but oh well.

they was all white with 1/1 so i just resigned them im new to ps3 so thats first time i ever saw that just thought that was weird.

Well coach resinging belongs to the many things EA really needs to put work into.

It's just so ridiculous, I offer a guy a 2 year, 1 million a year contract, which makes the bar all green, and then I get the message "Dolphins have countered your offer, 2 year, 780k a year"... okay, even if I ignore the fact that the CPU has offered almost 25% less than me, I have to adjust the contract upwards to a 1.15 million a year contract. Then I get the message "Dolphins have countered your offer, 2 year, 780k a year"... WTF is that? That's the same effing contract! Again I have to adjust my offer, 1.3 mill this time... guess what? "The Dolphins have countered your offer, 2 year, 780k a year"... seriously? Are you kidding me, EA?

I mean, admittedly, it's a really small part of the game, but it's just so ridiculous I could bite into my gamepad everytime it happens.

something else i noticed was the cmp for some odd reason got rid of half my team, i signed a few players that had one yr contracts left and when i simmed the rest of the signing period and draft cause i dont like waiting threw 7 rds of draft i went into the roster and noticed the cmp got rid of joe thomas to the saints and my 2 top wr's to steelers and rams i tried trading a #1 pick to saints to get back thomas but they refused but i got another A potion LT and 2 A potion rb's by the cmp doing so lmao.

Ummm.... just turn off the CPU controlling all that stuff.

I set everyting to USER control. I mean the off-season takes a while to get through... but its better than the CPU mucking up your team after you just spent all that time playing a season.

Exactly, don't give the CPU control of signing players or you will regret it. And check it before the offseason, one time I'm absolutely sure I set everything to USER control when creating the franchise yet somehow it had reverted back to CPU control before the offseason.

I played the Cards, franchised Faneca after the season because I wasn't sure how many good linemen I could pick up in the draft so I franchised him to either trade him if a got a good replacement or just have him around for another year if I still needed him. What does the CPU do? AFTER I had franchised him and moved on to Free Agent signings, the CPU went on a resigning spree, resigning both Faneca and another aging lineman I wanted to get rid of to high-money 4 year contracts. Oh, and it fired my 53 OVR WR that I had just signed to a 7-year minimum salary deal because he's a great kick returner with Speed 98... well, at least getting him back wasn't much of a problem, but basically I'm sitting on 10+ million worth of cap space of 30+ year old linemen I don't want or need for the next 3 years, just because the CPU decided to sign players to other contracts AFTER I've already negotiated a new contract with them.

Like I think was already said... when you sign a new head coach or re-sign your old one all of those options revert from USER back to CPU control.

During your franchise you gotta keep an eye on it.

Especially if you control all 32 teams and want all options set to USER for every team.
