Comparison to last year? He looks the same today as he did a year ago today. Big. And he always loses that weight by June.

You just were watching sportscenter since the Media is obsessed with him this year, you noticed he looked out of shape and much different from last August. But you don't know anything else.

He's not overweight right now. He's 270 yes, but he reduced his body fat from last year. So the more weight isn't a problem, because he's stronger and quicker and his body fat is down. He always shows up looking bad, he gets back into shape as the season goes. But this year "looking bad" isn't how to slow him down, he's in great shape. He added much more muscle.

It's the same thing all 3 years with the Tigers. In Spring, April, and May he is big. All 3 years. And then he loses it in June when the weather is hot. It's nothing new. Except this year, the weight is more muscle.

So if you are going to say something ridiculous like his numbers will go down, you will need a better excuse than his weight. He has played a whole career fat, drunk, on horrible teams in big pitchers parks, and he still out hits Adrian Gonzalez. This year he has more protection than he ever has.

His numbers are not going to down any time soon.

    You mean this Miguel Cabrera?

If you mean stronger as in 15 pounds overweight...okay. But he's heading towards Andruw Jones territory with the gut there.

I don't ever remember seeing him this fat. You can see the extra fat on the face and the gut just stands out like no other. I don't know what he did this off-season, but I know he didn't spend too much time doing any sort of cardio.

That's up in the air right now.

Thornton has been one of the best relief pitchers in all of baseball since 2008. One look at his peripherals and WAR will tell you that. Thornton will most likely get the job and he's shown that he can close games before (perfect in save situations last year).

......And he looks like that every single Spring Training. The only difference is this year, around the gut, he added more muscle.

The gut will go away like it does every single season. This is nothing new. He always starts out looking the same way, look at last years spring training photos. But every year in June/July/August he looks much better.

It won't affect his performance this season, it never has.

He's been asked this and a writer talked to his trainer, it has been in a few different articles.

Yeah, muscle around the gut. Okay.

Seriously, you don't need to be a fitness expert to see that he's fat and out of shape. As for saying he's like this every year...

Pics from last year's spring training: http://www.michaelgbaron.com/detroit...ring-training/

I don't see much, if any of a gut. The fat on his face is not there.

It's pretty simple - Miggy's in the worst shape of his life. Whatever you heard from Leyland about how Cabrera is in the best shape of his life... what else was he supposed to say? That Miguel Cabrera has manboobs and is in the worst shape of his life?

You know how people speculated a couple years ago how he might one day eat himself out of baseball? Those people had legitimate hunches. His life off the field is unstable and he's not getting any younger. If he doesn't keep himself in shape in the off-season, his career is going to get cut short once he reaches his 30s.

Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?

I'm not saying he isn't fat and out of shape. Your whole point is that it will slow him down this season and that Adrian Gonzalez had the edge.

And I said no it won't, he's always out of shape early in camp, and he gets smaller as the season goes on. Everybody knows it, he was just asked about it and he said the normal grind of the season takes 25 pounds off, and he usually starts around 260 or 265.

He is 270 now. Not any different than last year of the year before.

Maybe it will cut his career short. Through 8 seasons he plays about 160 games a season, tears the cover off the ball, overweight, drunk, bad lineup, big ballpark, and all. Maybe. But as for now, there is no reason to believe it will hurt him this season. Which all goes back to the point that he's better than Gonzalez.

You picked 1 picture that makes him look slightly less huge. I can't find the ones from their first workout last year, it's a pic of him with his arms straight out. He just pours out of his jersey and it's hilarious. I saw him in person last Spring, he looks just like he does now. I promise you that. I was concerned at first, but I noticed him looking different every few weeks and after 60 games I forget he was ever extremely obese. There is a picture from last Spring of him taking a ground ball, and it looks like he is about to fall over.

I've looked at the other pics too, but you can't deny that he is fatter now than he was before. The pictures are almost night and day.

And how exactly do you know he's currently 270?

I'm taking his word on it. He said it the first day he came to camp, I don't have any reason to think it's not true. It makes sense though, he's listed at 240 and says he loses 20-25. It adds up.

It's hard to believe he used to play RF. I'm just glad he's not at third base anymore. Lol.

Lol... I didn't realize there was a debate going on over it, but I was watching Sports Center the other day, and they were showing a clip Cabrera running to firstbase.

All I know is that I saw some serious man-tit bouncing going on.
