can you change to button swinging? -
Operation Sports Forums
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
While i'm here i have a question about button swinging. There is no power swing just hit X? If so i think i like that better, is there a downside to not using the stick as far as hit variety and such.

Yep, pause and then it's the right stick that brings up the menu. Just flick the stick any direction. It's kind of a weird way to access a menu and takes a little getting used to if you haven't played a 2K game in awhile.
Tvman: I haven't used button hitting for awhile, but I remember it was either 2K9 or 2K10 where it was really hard to hit any homeruns with the classsic button hitting. I'm guessing that's been fixed, but I haven't tried it lately.

Ok thanks. I was surprised when i switched to classic and saw no power swing seeing as there is one with analog.

in the demo this is possible? Because when i hit pause and flick the right stick, there are only a few options like quit, choose sides, resume...
i didnt notice it there
Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York Rangers

When you flick the R stick you should see an option like controller setup or something like that, press X (ps3) then in there it's L2 R2 to scroll through control schemes.

Yeah, it's in the demo. Pause, flick the R Stick. There should be a tab for "My Controller." From there, you can choose "Controller Setup" or "Controller Options."
Under Control Options you can turn on the batters eye and change the breakpoint aim.
Under Controller Setup, you can view the controls for the various aspects of the game. Under Batting and Pitching, you'll see options to change from Total Control to Classic by pressing LB/RB (L2/R2 on PS3).
EDIT: I must be going blind as I don't know how I didn't see tvman's post...lol. So...sorry for being kind of redundant!

Actually, I use classic button hitting primarily on every version of MLB 2k, and even adjusted the power slider down to about 35-45 in 2k10 and did fairly well with hitting homeruns. I made it to about August in my Cubs franchise and Soriano and Lee both had 25-30 HRs, Ramirez had about 17 and Soto was into double digits as well. So it can be done pretty consistently. I have yet to hit one in the demo though.
I was using classic myself but now i'm kind of liking analog and the option of defensive swing doesn't hurt, helps me work the count when i'm behind in it.
Have a question about analog though, if i only pull back slightly on the stick the batter goes into his power mode stance is that far enough to pull back or do you actually have to pull back all the way?

Do you use the left stick for directional influence at all, or just the button alone?
Personally I like the analog part of 2K I think it gives you more control in hitting , the classic button hitting just doesn't seem to work as well for me. JMO !!!!
