MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

This is for those of you who don't want to post a story and just want to post/discuss your franchise with others. You can do this casually or in-depth. I'm pumped for this year's game and am always a big fan of franchise discussion threads so I thought I would make my own this year....

My plans is to get the game, make a franchise to play until the OS FULL MINOR rosters come out, then I'll probably start over fresh. How about you guys....

    Discuss away....

I've already started. In Spring Training right now as I get accustomed to the game.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Most likely, ill start a franchise with any team and just play some games here and there and sim a few seasons to see how everything works out, then when the rosters come out ill go hard into my phillies franchise (: and in a month or so ill pick a lower end team and rebuild (:

Gonna do a franchise with the Pirates. After going to a few Pirates games with my dad last year I fell in love with them.

The stadium, the young players, the fans. Pirates are a must do for me this year, especially after seeing how detailed the stadium and backdrop is in '10, i'm pumped.

As always, take whichever Pittsburgh team is in the game and use them. Being that I only have internet access through my 360 and not my PS3, I won't be able to download OS rosters . But yeah I'll try to draft an ace with the first pick of the draft this year and hopefully get out of this 18 year drought that started before I was even born . I'll probably throw the hole MLB roster out at the deadline for A prospects and even though it may continue to 20+ years of no playoffs then, I'll be a major contender for years to come after that hopefully
                NFL: Steelers
MLB: Pirates (But I also like the Dodgers)
                NHL: Penguins
                NBA: Bobcats
                NCAA: Pittsburgh
                NASCAR: Jimmie Johnson
Anything else is a waste of time.

You can still use the rosters. Just get yourself a flash drive and load the roster file onto and import onto your PS3. I always have internet problems on my PS3 and this method saves me a lot of hassle.

Hey I was wondering what type of approach do you use towards spring training? How long do you use your starting pitchers, positions players, etc.? Do you put a lot of stock into spring training performance when trying to determine your 25 man roster?

I typically use my starters for about 2 or 3 innings depending. Sometimes if I am starting a younger player(AAA/AA) I'll let them pitch longer to get a feel for how rattled they become in situations, should they arise.

Position players, I typically let the starters play til the 5th inning and then I switch them out. I'll also start younger players more often than not.

The bad thing is that ST doesn't progress your players in the game, but I do "evaluate" the players myself and see who fits and who doesn't.

Honestly though, I rarely change the 25 man roster the first season. Now after that, I'll set it how I see fit.

Two innings into opening day of Padres-Cardinals, Latos left the game in the Second due to a elbow injury and to open up the third, Wainwright goes down the same way.

Quite a way to open up the season.

How is the CPU roster management? I know there were some pretty annoying bugs last year that could be worked around but it would be nice if they were takenc are of this year in franchise mode
