If I'm on second and I get a base hit to the outfield, what buttons do I press to send the 2nd base runner home? Controlling multiple baser unners is giving me problems.

Re: Baserunning question.
By default, the lead runner (runner at second) will be selected. For me I'd just pull the left trigger once which will change the runner's icon to 'H' and he's heading home. If by chance, you wanted to send him home and also send the batter to second, you could just click the left bumper once and ALL runner would advance an extra base. The key for me and my baserunning is remembering that the lead runner is selected by default and I just use the left trigger to advance one and right to retreat one.Comment

Re: Baserunning question.
Bingo, always use the triggers or the bumpers to advance runners. Sometimes if I have 1st and 3rd, and hit a ball to the wall, I tap the bumper three times to send everyone home, and then press A to select the batter, and then tap the right trigger twice, telling him to stay on second.Comment

Re: Baserunning question.
I've only played the Show the past 3 years and I used auto baserunning then. However, I really like the system in 2k11. Once you get the hang of it, I think you will be happy to have some control on being aggressive or conservative at your own will without having to put too much thought into it.Comment

Re: Baserunning question.
jason, I'm with you on being somewhat frustrated but mine comes from the fact that often on a clear base hit my runner (for example) on 2nd automatically heads back to second. This even happens with 2 out! By the time I hit the trigger to get him going it's far too late to try and score him. I can't figure out how to get the runner going immediately on impact. I've lost several runs this way.Comment

Are you using the stick to hit?
It sounds like you're holding up too long and inadvertently telling the runner to go back to second.

Re: Baserunning question.
Baserunning with multiple players is complicated?
No way man, baserunning with only one player is complicated!
I'm new to MLB 2K series, and even after 20 games in My Player, I still need a fact sheet in front of me to run the base correctly most of the time.
I'm always stuck when going to 3rd to know what I should press on the LS to get back to second and etc, etc.
It's funny because I always say : "I think I have figured it out!" just to hear my wife add : "You've said that 20 times, make it 21 in few minutes!""Ice hockey is a form of disorderly conduct in which the score is kept." - Doug LarsonComment

Re: Baserunning question.
I have an issue where I swing to hit the ball and I must manually push the stick back down. When I do that, I send my player home! I have had David Ortiz thrown out at 2nd like 3 times because of this. I'm yelling, "What are you doing?!?", even though it's my fault. I gotta pay better attention!Sweet Mary Jane with eyes like the rain and alive to the sound...Comment

Re: Baserunning question.
In My Player its easy because you are only controlling one player. My advice for My Player players is to go into controls and take them off the default relative or whatever it is called. Set running and throwing controls to act the same as they do in all other modes. It will be less disorienting when switching between game modes.
Left = Advance
Right = Return
Trigger = One Runner
Bumper = All Runners
Right Stick = Direction of base you want to send selected runner to
Any command not issued to ALL (bumper) will be issued to the selected runner. By default the lead runner is selected. In My Player this doesn't matter as you can only control your player.
A = Selects different base runner
The selected runners circle will be outlined on base path diagram. This diagram also denotes which base each runner is heading to.
Make sure you are waiting until after a hit to press the trigger/bumper. Done before and it is just a lead off step.
each press = move one base
If you have smart base running on then you have to pay attention on fly balls because runners will sometimes hold and wait for command.
You can hold both triggers at the same time to stop a runner in their tracks.
So to answer the first posters question. Man on second and you get a base hit and want to send lead runner home (assuming this is not in My Player). Since man on second is the lead runner he will be your selected runner. You can issue commands to your selected runner by using the triggers (2 presses to move him 2 bases) or by tapping right stick down (go home). Since you are not using your bumpers to issue a command to All player the batter will stop at first.Last edited by lnin0; 03-18-2011, 08:55 PM.Comment

Re: Baserunning question.
Maybe it's just me but everytime I hit LT twice the pitcher throws to first, I can't push it a 3rd time to let the runner steal...We are Penn State! Let's go Rangers!Comment
