Who here plays without guess pitch? The slider is nasty this year to hit!
I do and I'll tell you the slider is nasty to read this year! I've been playing for a week and have never had this much trouble hitting a slider from damn near any picther who gets it going wether its his #1 pitch or #5. I never use guess pitch and I'm using analog playing on HOF.Tags: None -

It's freakin' nasty!"When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation." -

The slider has some nasty late breaking action this year. Some of the swings that batters do when it breaks down and in really translates how lethal it is!“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

I play without guess pitch also.
I think the toughest guys to face are the ones with a fastball, changeup, and slider. They all three look identical to me!
I just struggled mightily against Daniel Hudson of the D'Backs.Comment

Yes I agree with the poster above. These are the toughest pitches in the game. Especially if the pitcher has a running fastball mixed with a slider. Halladay is so tough because he has fastballs that move at different speed and cut (cutter), tail (sinker), and then go straight really fast (4 seam). Then mix in he has a nasty curve. I actually just played him with the Pirates of all teams and didn't do ALL that bad. I struck out 11 times. This was on Legend difficulty using analog hitting. I managed to get 7 hits and 1 hr though. 11 strike outs is pretty realistic to me. It's the Pirates against Halladay after all.
One thing that helped me really cut down my strike outs and just hit better overall is practice righty vs righty in practice mode pitch recognition. Try to go up against a pitcher with a fast fastball 93mph+ and a good change up. You have to hit the inside fastball. So you keep on doing this over and over and sooner or later you will get a good eye for this pitch.
I looked fastball in 75% of the game and did very well. I also hit with the Phillies and only struck out 5 times. I scored 4 runs on 2 homers. I looked middle in fastball 75% of the time. Sometimes with 2 strikes I would look away or if I just really thought the pitcher was going to go away. This worked out realistically as when I got those pitches and executed I hit singles the opposite way. The middle in pitches are the ones that you hit for power and this plays out true in this game.
It was very nice to see a game where I actually put the ball in play weakly for outs throughout the game. Prior to hitting like this I would crush the ball or strike out all the time. Now it's much more balanced hitting with this approach.
For anybody struggling hitting I strongly suggest trying this. Look fastball in. Get an idea what the fastballs in look like. Visualize the pitch before the pitcher throws it. If you get that pitch it will be like in slow motion. You will be able to crush it. You also will lay off more pitches. If you don't get your pitch don't swing. Especially with 0 strikes. Once you get in a rhythm you can actually start timing hanging curves out over the plate even though you were looking middle in fastball.
I tried timing hitting for the hell of it and I found out that it's actually harder than analog. I honestly think this game was built for analog. The pitch speed, swing speed, everything was built for analog hitting. I swing slower with button swinging. It's probably just something to do with the mechanic I don't know.Comment

For the first time ever in The Show I'm actually NOT using Guess Pitch..
And yes the slider is nasty...but the fastball is annoying this year
at least for me ( I keep striking out!!)
Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.Comment

Haha! He just put up 10 K's on me in my 2nd game. Other two games of series, I hit fairly well (HOF analog/no gp).Comment

The Slider is disguting this year.
I just played a classic game against the Braves as the Nats and it seems like every pitcher from Tim Hudson to Scott Proctor throws a mean Slider for the Braves.
I got about 12 hits and 6 runs, but to hit those sliders I needed a little bit of luck.
I love this gameComment

Ive struck out so many times on nasty sliders or low changeups. Nearly impossible.Bruins-Redsox-Patriots-CelticsComment

I never play with guess pitch on, never. It seems like too much of an advantage over the CPU and it doesn't feel life like playing with it.Comment
