    Portraits with updating hats

I've just made a significant "discovery"

Create a player with a name in the game's database (any player in the game), export them (dont necessarily have to upload them), when you load the created player in the game, they will have the head of the real player

for example, i created derek jeter, left the face as default with hair...

loaded into the game, he has Jeter's head! plus his player's portrait looks just like jeter and if you trade him, the hat changes! i'll post some screens

also, this DOES NOT erase career stats!

So you can have a Derek Jeter at SS and a Jeter in the outfield, too! It's a win-win for Brian Cashman and Yankees management!

Does this work for other players?
I know the "Jeter head" phenomenon....but does doing this for other real players work?

I can confirm that this is not a result of the "Jeter Head Phenomenon"

            Worked with Big Pappi!

now I wonder how Manny and Lincecum would look with their hair :P

            LETS SEE!

Knight we have a big thread going on in the roster section about players it is working for. I'm filling out my Padres NRI and 40 man list. I know in your set you like to have the AAA teams accurate. Guys like Geoff Geary, Bobby Kielty, Jordan Schafer Matt Antonelli etc, who have been removed from this years game but have appeared in previous versions of the game work with their real faces and player models.

This is pertaining to players who are IN this years game though. I did see your thread, and thats what gave me the idea to try it with existing players.

So you can have perfectly accurate 2011 rosters and have players like Mike Napoli (who has a Jays cap in game, despite never playing a game in a jays uniform) with the correct hat.

Also, its only the name that matters, not the audio. So you can have Lincecum called "Timmy Lincecum"

The only drawback is there seems to be no player specific commentary (although last years stats ARE still there), when Manny comes up it will be:

"And stepping up is Manny [PAUSE] Ramirez"

and when Manny's on deck, you wont hear "And you don't wanna walk this guy when you-know-who's on deck"

I kind of like the idea here, as it would add something to franchise to see the stock photos update when a player changes teams.

But the drawback I imagine, would be career stats for the changed player would zero out which would prevent breaking any career records. Kind of a big deal to me.

What happens is you "steal" the stats of the player you overwrite, so if you create A-Rod and overwrite A-Rod, then A-Rod has hit 613 HRs.

If you create A-Rod and overwrite Jeter, than you have a lot less :P

Also, this changes heads only, so you can make Russell Martin tall and fat, Sabathia short and skinny...

Make sure you get the right body size and skin tone right, because the appearance will become un-editable after.

Lastly, the MLB service time IS reset to 0... unfortunately...

Oh, my bad. That's awesome then.

I wonder if the game will feel dull if the player specific commentary gets cancelled out when you do this.

However, aren't we limited to only 20 Created Players?
Or are you "overwriting" the stock players, so to speak?

This is awesome, but I can't see overwriting every single player in the game.

Overwriting stock players, this way the created player acquires their stats (not their service time however)

                          So basically you:

Create Player, Export and add to FA
Load roster file (so that there's no created player in the FA)
Replace existing player by loading created player file
                          Save Roster file

I haven't tested this yet, it should work unless there are limitations we haven't found yet, but you would have to keep repeating (loading and saving roster files) for every 20 players you replace

Also, I also cannot see replacing EVERY player... but for players who's portraits are already outdated, it's a neat alternative to having a pic with the wrong cap.
