How do you reverse it? This is the first tiger game in a long time where I feel like I can't see the course. It's like they put horse blinders on me.

D-pad in any direction will give you a reverse, forward or left and right look. But it's only enabled after you zoom in with the left stick.
Go in the demo and screw around because there's also an option where you can view a broader behind the golfer view when he's addressing the ball. I just can't remember what button that is.Last edited by Seymour Scagnetti; 03-15-2011, 05:21 PM.Comment

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here
These are some of the reasons im still playing 10.Not sure that I can...I can only confirm that I feel the same way. I've already jumped off the ledge with other EA games e.g. Madden. I don't think EA "gets it"...when they get going in the right direction they still end up finding away to turn you off...after last years game which I enjoyed I was super pumped for this years game (w/ Masters and all) but the changes to the game do nothing for me. Actually it's worse than that, the changes have turned me off of the game.
One thing I can tell you is I'm trying to like the demo even with the clunky controls...I've found a way to get around the stupid caddy thing (by pressing the "o" button and choosing a custom shot) but even then it's confusing to figure out where my cursor is, where I'm hitting the ball, my lie, how do I zoom, how do I aim my shot, ect...I seariously dont' think they could have f'd up the controls any worse if they literally tried. If they want to add the caddy thing, then fine...give us the option to turn it off and don't change around the controls. But, they couldn't do either. It really is amazing.
I tried the demo last year and didnt think it was worth a purchase.
Tried this years demo, and feel like they are heading in the wrong direction with some parts of the series that have me scratching my head.Comment

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here
I wouldn't bank much hope on any patch. These are the same developers that last year released a course (Cog Hill) that they charged customers for as DLC, but forgot to include a pin/hole on the 11th hole on the "hard" pin settings. Did they fix that and re-release it? Nope. Every time you played it you had to hit your ball around on the hole to take a maximum shot of eleven, so that you could then just be able to advance to the 12th hole. You couldn't get a refund for your purchase either. No one hates this caddie more or was more pissed off with it than me as I'm still trying to decide whether it can be tolerable for me in the full game but I want the damn Masters so bad (I guess this is what EA is banking on) that I may relent and hope they give us a patch to totally disable it. ...
That game review that someone posted from Simu Gaming was strange. The guy - frodawg- apparently reviewed the demo from a sim perspective, but somehow reviewed it on the "tour pro" difficulty setting, as set forth in his last paragraph. That's no longer the most "sim-like" game mode and hasn't been since TW10. Some of his statements are just not accurate when in context of the hardest game difficulty modes -- called True Aim in TW11 and now Tournament in TW12.Last edited by ShivasIrons; 03-16-2011, 03:32 AM.Comment

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here
I played the hell out of the demo last night while messing around with all the different configurations. First of all, Seymour, you are right about the controls...they just take some getting used to. I'm not trilled with them but they will do.
For this game to be a winner they are going to have to patch some things in. They have to absolutely lose the caddie boxes and recommended shot lines if you've hit disable caddie. Even if you're playing every shot custom you just can't help but look at them, which makes you feel like you're cheating. I think this is probably do-able...and also realize that the physical caddie isn't going anywhere. They also need to patch in club distances for all modes.
On Tour Pro (which i like because of the camera angles and general landing area) they HAVE GOT to get rid of the little putting circle.
On Tournament they have to patch in yardages and elevations.
Considering they could leave the actual caddie in the game and just do away with his info I think the list above is realistic to hope for, don't you?Comment

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here
Yes. It maxes out at 40,000. The easiest way to get there is to play the Road To The Masters over and over as you get a big bonus point award for each tourny you win or make a good showing. The harder the difficulty settings (including AI) you play the more xp you get each round, too. On tournament difficulty, I was getting about 2,000 xp per 5 hole tourney. Had a high of about 2,700 and lows around 1,800. So, it turns out to be about the equivalent of 6-7 18-hole rounds. You can also play the "play now", but you don't get the 1,500 xp bonus for winning the tourney, so it will take a fair amount longer.Last edited by ShivasIrons; 03-16-2011, 03:39 PM.Comment

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here
My sentiments, EXACTLY!I played the demo last night on 360, tried out everything it had to offer. The demo is totally caddie-centric, I agree with that...and I think featuring the caddie and the fairly scripted Augusta event was the aim of the demo, period. I thought I had read in a preview somewhere (maybe IGN) that the caddie would be an optional feature in the final game.
I won't assume, but I'm THINKING that when caddie is disable in the full version, that the caddie's suggested shots/percentage stuff will go away and be more like what we had in TW11. Again, I think the demo is just 100% caddie-centric and that's why the percentages are persistent.
If it comes to pass that this is NOT the case and I can't play True Aim like I did in the excellent TW11, I'll be returning the game for full credit. Until then, I'll wait and see.
Putting was interesting, kind of a new look, and the caddie was actually somewhat useful on the green. Simply doing what he said didn't guarantee my shot; the execution and precise aim is still required and wasn't ridiculously easy...but again, we'll see.
Again, this is just a demo...and a feature-centric one more than actual game-centric. I'll extend EA the benefit of the doubt until I can play the final version, which they earned from me with TW11 being so damn good. If it fails, it goes back and I go back to TW11 for another year.
I really, really hated the demo. I absolutely loved the last two editions of TW. TW 11 was pretty much exactly what I want in a game. If I can't play with True Aim exactly as I did last year, then I'm going back to TW 11.
I will probably rent TW 12 and see if it feels as simple minded as the demo. I just have to believe that True Aim is going to be in there, and the Caddy can be turned off completely. Right now, the demo made March 29th's buying decision simple. It's Shift 2.Last edited by JayhawkerStL; 03-22-2011, 08:57 PM.Comment

Honestly, TW 11 was how videogame golf should be. True Aim was the difference maker. Best videogame golf I ever played. I was lookng forward to that with The Masters.
Now I'm sad.Comment

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here
It's been confirmed by the devs that how you disable the caddy in the demo is how it's being done in the full game and the way true aim was done in TW11 will not be in TW12. My hunch as to one reason the true aim of TW11 was turfed was people with weak math skills (and there are alot of them) were probably complaining that judging true aim distance was simply doing mathematical calculations in your head (which is true to a point) and you know for many gamers the dumber the game the better. I could live with that but the caddie issue on tourney mode was still a head scratcher. My sentiments, EXACTLY!

My suggestion is play the demo alot more and your tolerance level of the caddie might go up as it did for me. I still hate it but can learn to live with it and pray there will be a patch to eliminate those boxes. Having Augusta and an improved career mode hopefully cancels out that negative. The devs have heard it loud and clear from thier forums that the caddie was not a good idea to force on gamers and if they have an ounce of common sense (which is debatable) then they are feverishly working on totally disabling it with the 1st patch.Comment

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here
I'm not holding my breath for that though. The caddie feature is their little baby this year and they are determined to force it down every gamers throat. If they really had an once of common sense, they would have foreseen the sim fans not liking the caddie feature and built in the ability to completely disable it from the start.Comment

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here
Well, I just really loved the way True Aim worked last year. It never rally dawned on me that they would jettison it.
I deleted the demo after two holes, becasue the game just felt too dumbed down. I was parring holes without thinking. But I assumed the full version would have what I was looking for.
I might try the demo again, but I will probably just rent the game when it comes out and decide from there. If the caddy thing was so good, why not just have it as an option. If it really is all that, gamers will use it. But why force it on us by deleting the best play mode I've ever used in a golf video game?Comment
