Melo wasn't playing like an All-Star throughout that ordeal. There were a lot of games where everyone was saying how he had already checked out cause the effort just wasn't there on his part. Just cause dude can walk into a 20+ point night doesn't mean he was out there scrapping to the best of his ability. This is the same thing as the LeBron fiasco in the playoffs. Dudes need to learn how to stop reading boxscores to determine effort. Also as pointed out already, continuing to openly talk about playing elsewhere during the thing was foul on his part and playing the victim about something he pretty much brought on himself didn't help and definitely "tipping his cap to himself" was a bad move. But whatever, what's done is done.

He posted right after me and I was the only one talking about the similiarity with the LeBron issue. Seemed clear to me he was talking to me, if not then I can eat the crow.

Perfectly agree. Especially when looking at it, the Nuggets came out very well.

As stated earlier in this thread, I became a Nuggets fan due to them drafting Carmelo back in 2003. Obviously, since I live in CO and have been to plenty of games, I would've loved to have seen Melo sign that extension and stay in Denver. But, what's done is done and I'm glad that we can all move on now.

The Nuggets got decent value back for Melo and Chauncey and the Knicks got the superstar player they wanted, along with a clutch PG who can help both Melo and Amar'e get their touches.

I have no beef with Melo for wanting out of Denver. It's his right to refuse to sign the extension with Denver (or NJ or anyone else) and wait until he was either traded (which he ultimately was) or landed in free agency to go where he wanted, which was NY. Melo didn't "quit" on Denver, didn't blast the fans for booing him when the NJ rumors were swiring out of control and put up All-Star numbers, helping get Denver into playoff contention yet again.

I'll still be a Nuggets fan; I like the makeup of this new team and think they could be a spoiler come playoff time. I'll also root for the Knicks b/c Melo is my favorite player in the game.

Why would Denver fans care about what the Knicks are doing? The Nuggets have done more than OK for themselves since the deal and I know I've moved on and am supporting the team that's in place. I keep an eye on what Melo and Chauncey are doing in NY, but I'm certainly not rooting for them to lose.

Karl certainly has a right to be upset, but blasting Melo in the media isn't going to solve anything.

Like you said, everyone just needs to move on, but I don't know how easy that is for some of the involved parties.

Is he serious? Why would they care what he does over there? This is just plain ridiculous. Why is Melo so worried about Denver wishing the opponent luck instead of playing defense against teams under .500?
