Oh Im not harping. I really dont care about the ads. Im just curious. Id like to know the legalities and such. I understand there are reasons behind everything.

I wouldnt change The Show one bit!

I don't see why they couldn't just insert the ads for the companies you are getting paid by in Franchise mode. This way you can be reminded of your tasks!

I've always wondered(and forget to ask obviously!) why they don't use my sponsor ads in game?

As far as MLB11 is concerned, Im wondering where the disconnect is in the name usage.

For instance, the "Coke" Bottle at AT&T Park. In MLBTS it says "Cola" and not "Coca-Cola". Is that because SCEA does not want to pay C-C for the rights to use their name, or does C-C not want their named to be used in a game? I cant imagine C-C doesnt want their name to be used in a game, its advertising and Im sure no one is gonna run out and buy MLBTS just because they have a Coke ad, but people might wanna drink a Coke while playing the game. Follow me?

Burnout has real Ads ALL OVER THE PLACE! Im assuming those companies paid to have their ads in the game. Is this not a good option for SCEA? Why would they not want C-C's money? Is it worth it?

Yeah, you would think companies would want free publicity/advertising, but it simply doesn't work that way. Any and all product "misinterpretation" or misrepresentation is looked at as a possibility, so legally companies don't bother i.e. pay us to use our name or image... just in case. I've actually thought the 'Coke' bottle at AT&T was playing it close, because that shape is actually trademarked by C-C. However, there is a "percentage" of similarity that keeps you from legal problems.

Park names are different because the companies actually pay the ball clubs and MLB for naming rights, thus giving MLB some power over the usage.

It's a funny game, but you have to keep the lawyers busy, LOL.

I just wish they would take a page out of triple play's book... old on before you get on me. Remember when the announcers used to say this game is brought to you by "Insert fake company name here". I loved that they actually had little spots for fake advertisers. The one I remember was "Chork" and the announcer would say "This game brought to you by Chork, Its not chicken, its not pork. It's chork! and look for chork on a stick"
I love that kind of stuff. But the ads dont bother me at all.

More like the game paid those companies to use the ads.
This is such a non-issue to me it's not even funny.

I know what your saying and it is a testament to the game that little things like that are what people moan about. Thing is that kind of thing matters to people in the same way that having real minors or stances or equipment matter to others. It's all about having the most authentic experience as possible.

In Triple Play, I liked the sponsor that had a made up airline and said now featuring non stop flights from LA to Hawaii.

I totally agree with this thread, its annoying.

Since its "SONY" could they use Music and Movie posters from SONY????? seems not only logical but a great marketing idea.
They use Sony artists on the soundtrack well start putting some fake concert posters on the rotating boards behind the plates.
Movie posters where ever.

and like mentioned just make some stuff up, give me one day in an office and I (as well as most people here) could make 30 blueprints of sign ideas no sweat.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I just commented in another thread that I really miss having Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper perform the commentary. I like Matt, Dave and Eric but I'd take Krukow and Kuiper any day of the week!
