    Rate Top Spin 4

Might be too early to judge, but what would you give it out of 10? 10 being the highest.

I gave it an 8. To me, 8 means good, 9 means great, and of course 10 is "Perfect Ten".

Nothing's perfect, but I would have voted 9 if it wasn't for three things:

3: More players. I know tennis players have to be signed individually, but still...

      2. Commentary. It's weird how you hear Topspin 4 is supposed to be like you're AT the match, then you hear Topspin 4 has tv style presentation. Well which is it: or we at the match or are we watching it on tv?

      1. "PRO" Career mode. I love how 2K goes for realism, and I want to take a REAL pro through a career; I'm not interested in creating a player--I don't want a fake guy.

This game has actually made me put NBA 2K11 down for a while. I'm enjoying it. It's a solid 8.

I'm going to be THAT guy who rates it a little lower at 7. It's good but not great, due to the fact that it WANTS to be a sports sim but its "franchise" or career mode is lacking. The best sports games mirror their real games as much as possible with dynamic gameplay that makes you feel as if you're up against real competion bent on winning the title. That's where TS4 comes up short. There are WAY too few players (80 is a joke), way too small tournaments (8, 16, 32), and AI players that are fairly static when off the court in career mode (i.e. they don't progress or evolve, their stats never change, several of them only play one or two tournaments a year). Add in no injuries and very light stat tracking, and I can see the career mode becoming stale after a few weeks.

On the flip side, the actual gameplay is fantastic, except for the serving which needs more risk/reward. The various players, both real and fictitious, all have their own "style" and play unique enough to pose different challenges. If all you care about is gameplay and online, this game is easily a 9. I'm more of a single-player fan, hence the 7. Good. Probably the best tennis game ever made, but plenty of room for improvement. And for the sake of comparison, I'd have given TS3 a 5 .

I also gave it a seven. Gameplay is awesome, just not enough content to keep me interested for long. That seems to be a problem with a lot of tennis games for some reason. I can understand not having all the players but some basic quick tournament options, and a pro career option would be nice. I also have some issues with how progression is handled in career mode.

9 for the online play alone. I played the other night until 5:30 am in the morning with out even realizing the time: until my wife woke up to let the dog out....

              Gotta go with 9.

I liked TS3 a lot, personally - aside from the short matches in career mode I really had no desire to shelve it - so for this game to hit the scene and be better in pretty much every way was quite a nice surprise.

I'm sure there are tennis elitists out there who will bag the game for various reasons, but as a "put in once in a while" change-of-pace sort of game, there's nothing not to love here. It looks good, sounds good, and plays good.

I gave it a 7, but to me there's only 4-5 games ever that would deserve a 9 or 10 rating, so a 7 is really good.

Graphics are outstanding, animations are buttery smooth, AI is quite good. Career mode is good but not great, online has some balance issues but is still pretty fun.

Had to give it a 7.

The career mode was a bit vanilla, but the online play really soured me. I shouldn't have to have a super-maxed out player to even win a point (never mind a game) online. After going 0-6 and winning maybe 3 total points I quit, and my player was maybe a level 13 or 14. It shouldn't be THAT ridiculously unbalanced.

IMO it just wasn't nearly as accessible -- or fun -- as Top Spin 2 in terms of online multiplayer.

A real nice effort, but it didn't quite make it.
