UC DAVIS STARTS CONFERENCE OFF WITH A BANG

UC Davis opened up their conference season with a bang agianst UC Riverside. "I am not going to judge this Aggies team by that one game because honestly UC Riverside is not the best in the conference, on the contrary they will probably end up near the bottom." said a cocky coach Scott after the game, "We just started off strong from the get go and we just rolled with it." UC Davis would lead for the whole game except for one possession and would win 87-64.

    NOTES:
    • Joe Harden got injured so he was limited in time. He will be healthy by the next game.
    • I am getting close to get the sliders I want but I'm not fully there, I just need to do a little bit more tweaking.

RECRUITING TWIST AT UC DAVIS CLOSES THE DOOR ON 3 JC RECRUITS

"I cannot believe that this sort of thing would happen especially in my first year as a head coach" opened Lathen Scott on an unexpected press conference, "Basically, some boosters at UC Davis offered Don Montague, Laurynas McClurkin, and Errick Archibald X amount of money. McClurkin was the first to come to me and tell me what was going on and short after the other two informed me of the situation. Whether or not the recruits actually accepted the money is still in question but I have made the decision to rescind all 3 scholarship offers before this gets out of hand. I feel terrible that this happened especially with these guys because they have really shown excitement to coming and a positive attitude."
Later asst. coach Taurance Conley had this to add, "Don't expect Lathen to be going after any Juco recruits anytime soon if ever. He is probably the most superstitious person I know."

(Basically I made a house rule not to recruit Juco recruits because it was too easy to get 3*)

I like not recruiting JUCOS...it can be too easy to get too good too fast with them. I don't exactly say no JUCOs, but I only recruit them every once in a while. Keep giving the ball to Ritchart, I watched him in high school

Yea I might do juco recruits in the future if I ever play at a better school and I just cannot find anyone. And Ritchart is a very solid player I love him. He plays really good defense for me and really hustles. He has a pretty good 3 point rating (74 i think) but he has a funky release so I will have to keep working with that.

Hey guys I just wanted to throw this out there for anyone interested. This legacy isn't dead I've just been slacking off really bad. I'm about 5 or 6 games further than what I've posted so I will try my best to get this updated over the next few days. Sorry for anyone who enjoys this legacy.

UC DAVIS' WIN STREAK SNAPPED AT CS NORTHRIDGE

UC Davis headed into CS Northridge hoping to continue their short win streak. However their win streak would be short-lived as the Matadors fought there way to victory. "We shot the ball way too much. We had no offense. It was just running up and down the floor throwing up shots. That should never happen." said a frustrated Coach Scott after the game. "We shot the ball as many times as they did points and we still lost! How in the world does that happen??" UC Davis would fall short losing 86-71.

UC Davis falls to 7-8 and will square off against 8-6 Long Beach State.

NOTES: After playing this game I decided to give coach mode a shot and after a little tweaking I figured out a hopefully good slider set. So the next few games were more or less experiments but once you see the North Carolina game I think it is safe to say I found a good set for me.

Best of luck with the switch to coach mode. I'm finding it fun in my legacy and really adds a whole new strategy to not just the games, but who you recruit as well.

Yea i am finding it to be an interesting transition but I really like it. Once I created plays that fit the team's needs, I have had a blast on coach mode!

Ok so it's been so long that I have played some of the games I'm just going to put the box scores up for the past games because doing a little write-up would be almost pointless at this point. Sorry about my procrastination.

UC DAVIS SURVIVES SCARE FROM UCSB

"I don't care what anyone says, Santa-Barbara is a very solid team" commented Lathen Scott after the game, "They fight hard, they have a true leader at the point guard, and they have a straight up man in the paint. I would hate to have to play them in the conference tournament." UCSB, who came into the game 7-11, battled the Aggies who lead the conference all the way until the last 3 minutes of the game when UC Davis pulled away. Coach Scott ended up the press conference with a little insight into his personality, "I remember smiling to myself and getting butterflies in my stomack thinking that this could be another game that could go down to the wire. Man I love basketball!"

NOTES: I feel like I am getting close to getting the sliders that I want. Just a couple more games and I think I will have a set that I can run with for many seasons to come.
Also I really did get butterflies in my stomach for a second and smiled to myself thinking that the game could go down to the wire lol. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!

UC DAVIS ST. MARY'S GOES DOWN TO FINAL POSSESSION

Hi this Ryan Burns on 103.8 KUCD with the postgame show for your UC Davis Aggies. If you did not watch this game or turned it off early in the second half, you missed a great finish! UC Davis came back from being down 43-26 with 17:00 left in the game and even took the lead with just a couple minutes to play. Then down 1 with 30 secoonds left, UC Davis had the ball with the shot clock essentially useless. Then with just 10 seconds left Harden got the ball in the paint but was blocked but two Gaels and St. Mary's escaped winning 74-71.

Now I am here with the player of the game Ryan Howley:

RB: Ryan, how did you and the rest of the guys manage to fight back from being down 17?

RH: Well our shots started to fall and we tightened up defensively. We started to stop Dellevedova from scoring and just never let the lead get too out of hand.

RB: With you being one of the better defenders, was there any pressure being put against those great shooters?

RH: Not really. It was definitely very tough especially if I had to guard Jones because of his size but I like the challenge.

RB: Lastly, the past few games you have seemed to be a dependable scorer. What changed that has helped you be more consistent?

RH: Nothing really changed. I just started to work harder in practice. I also started going to the shooting and shooting late at night, instead of playing video games or something like that. I feel like I am improving and it feels like all the hard work is starting to pay off.

RB: Thanks Ryan! Now I'm here with the head coach of the Aggies, Lathen Scott. First of all, happy belated birthday to you! Now I was asking Ryan this a minute ago, what did it take for you guys to start making that comeback in the last 15 or so minutes of the game?

LS: Well we just couldn't get a shot to fall in the first half. When that continued in the first few minutes in the second half, we got discouraged and let up defensively. So I started mixing a couple defensive zones with the man-to-man to help keep them on their toes. Then our shots started falling and next thing you know, we were right back in it.

RB: You guys seemed to make it a point of stopping McConnell. What did it take to stop a great shooter like him?

LS: Well to be honest with you, I was more nervous about Dellevedova. Then Jones started to get on a scoring spree so we had to make a decision, do we worry about McConnell or Jones? It ended up being Jones but it was too little too late I'm afraid.

RB: So what is Mike Kurtz's health status?

LS: Well with about 10 minutes left he rolled his ankle pretty bad. He says it is pretty sore but we don't think it will keep him out of the game saturday. He might not get the same minutes but he will play.

RB: Thanks Lathen! Well that is all for us today Aggie fans. I hope to see you at The Pavilion this saturday on Groundhog Day as we face off against Pacific who is currently 7-11.

Hey guys I want your help on this one. Should I stick to the format I have been using for post-games or do you like the little post-game interviews? Are there too many questions in the interviews? What are y'alls opinions?

To be honest, I think the format is a little bit messy, I'm not going to brag about how great I think my format is or anything because I know it's far from perfect but maybe try something similar to mine? Other than the format I'm really enjoying this dynasty, good luck with the rest of the season hopefully you can bring UC Davis to a NIT or NCAA big.
