How many years can you play in Association Mode?

I wanna play as long as I can...is there a limit like 20 years or 30 years?

I cant imagine anyone play ASSOC w/ 82 games & 12 min quarters.
And actually playing each game for 10+ seasons.

I play 29 game seasons / best of 7 playoffs on 10 minutes....I was also thinking about starting an association and simming the regular seasons, and just doing the playoffs every year then doing the offseason stuff every year.

yeah, that's what me and my friend do. We got an association that'd currently in 2019, pretty crazy how the NBA changes, and how ****ed up the contracts get, that needs to get fixed.

I completed three and a half seasons on NBA 2k9 with the Miami Heat, playing all 82 games along with playoffs every year. It was soo sick

I simulated about 11-12 years and after about 6-8 years, every team is over $30mil over the cap and stays that way. During each offseason, pretty much anyone rated 85+ are asking for 4yr deals starting at $19mil/season. Guys in the 90s usually start off at $22mil.

I wanted to keep going to see how long i could keep it going but those 12 years bored me to death i couldn't continue.

I've made it as far as 2025 playing only playoff games no season games...by that point it got boring. Every team could'nt afford star players so star players were Free Agents during the season,Head Coaches to hire were all F Overalls & Most real life players were retired so it was mostly created guys. So it gets very boring very quickly.

How many years would you suggest then, 10 for a association before it gets boring?

i'd say 10+....because by that time every team has 4 players making 10+ mil a year,The coaching no joke gets worse & from what i remember i made it through year 2025 & when i went to advance to pre season it kept freezing as well. So i think you can go longer than that but i would'nt have a clue seeing as it froze on me.

Thanx for the heads up...I wanna go deep into a assoc. but I dont want it to get stupid either....I have 6 draft classes I downloaded so I think i will play 10 at the most.

I made it up to 2028 but now its freezing on me on the hall of fame inductees screen. Look for "loyal" players or better to ensure that they'll re-sign with you so you dont lose them to free agency. As long as you sign them for at least a 3 year contract, you can keep resigning them no matter how much money they want because of their bird rights which allows their salary to go over the salary cap. And they'll keep re-signing because they're loyal.

Every association I've done besides 1 has been a sim. By 2024, every decent player in the league is either making at least 10 million a year at least, or on a rookie contract. All the coaches in the league have F's as ratings and the only way you can bring it up is by winning championships. Really hard to do when you're simming and you're coach doesn't have any impact on you're teams play. Unless you have the Bull's/Clippers/NO's head coach's you're coach isn't gonna stick around. Until 2k implements a coach generated system based on who retires and a system where we can promote assistant coaches, coaches are gonna continue to be irrelevant once you past 15 years.

But as if its that bad though, there are alot of players in the league today making alot of money, and alot of good players in the league. The problem is that these player's sometimes stay longer than they should. Basically, the players with good potential keep coming in and the veterans aren't retiring. Which means there is always gonna be a rediculous amount of talented high salaried players in the game. If you keep simming though, the talent really dulls down once you hit 2035-2040. Because the computer generated players don't stay in the league as long as the real life players.
