Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***

I use classic also... here are a few tips:

Holding down the button will increase velocity but sacrifice location (for the most part)
I would suggest to start just tapping the throw button when you are behind in the
count or need to place a pitch perfectly. Also, just tapping the pitch button lowers
the amount of stamina lost vs holding down the button.

Warming up your pitcher is HUGE! Not just to be sure he is completely warm before he faces any batters but to get an idea of where he is missing his pitches. In classic mode, even a warm pitcher will miss his spots, so be sure to make note of the warm up pitches until he settles in.

Started franchise today with the sliders(was waiting for the full minor roster set) and am getting awesome results. First series with the mets vs the marlins went beautiful (won 5-1 lost 8-3 won 4-0) no complaints whatsoever. I am one of those guys that wants to swing at EVERYTHING and ive learned that in order for everything to work i HAVE TO be patient. @TNK & Psycho im not changing anything with the sliders............THEY ARE PERFECT GREAT JOB

I just looked at them again and realized my offensive sliders (for both Human and CPU) are exactly the same as yours. Great minds think alike I guess

I don't know, maybe it's just me but is anyone else seeing too many throwing errors on the cpu's part?? Two of the past 5 games, I have seen multiple throwing errors on the same play (one that led to an inside the park homerun).
It's gotten to the point where I don't advance runners in some situations because I feel like I'm cheating the CPU.

Like I said, maybe it's just me and/or a small game sampling.....I dunno

Fielding errors seem about right after the recent increase to 7 though.

Off the top of my head:

              - Fielders were faster last year, you will need to further reduce their speed
              - Hitting was easier last year, I recommend you lower Contact by a point or two.
              - Pickoffs had some crazy issues last year, so I recommend you turn them down a bit to maintain realism, of course also reducing baserunning ability (or speed) to compensate
              - I seem to remeber that the pitcher stamina system was different last year, but I can't remember for sure, or even which way it was off, just take note of your pitchers' staminas in their late innings, and adjust accordingly.
              - You might want to raise both consistency sliders, because I'm pretty sure last year's game had more passed balls and such.

I completely agree, but without a decent amount on the throwing error slider, there are way too many successful Derek Jeter plays made in the infield. I wish this slider was broken down, I'd like to see a separate slider for Pickoffs in particular, and of course a different slider for "special" throws.

My first game of the season...FWIW, I used the rosters and injuries, but for anyone that said (early April), I left them uninjured, which is why Greinke threw the opener. Now:

Every year...every damn year I have one of these games. Lights out...cruising easy...get to the 9th with a no-no intact, and lose it to some stupidness. First, I lost the perfect game in the FIRST INNING, when Prince fielded a Phillips grounder cleanly, but instead of running and tagging the base, he ran diagonal, then past the base, then around the base. Shlt was frustrating, but I was surprised they gave him an error. Kudos to SCEA for that one.

After that, it wasn't even close. the only balls they got out of the infield were lazy flies, save for one hard hit ball by Ramon Hernandez (curse him for today). I handled Votto and Bruce easily K'ing them 4 of their 6 AB's.

Fast forward to the 9th...strike out 8 hitter easily with an 0-2 change, then the 9 hitter (Chris Heisey, who was double switched into the lineup top 9), calmly hits a clean single to center. Strike out Stubbs on another 0-2 change, and Phillips grounds weakly to Prince to finish the game.

Was my first time using these sliders in franchise as I waited for the rosters. 2 SB attempts between us, both successful, but both shouda been successful. No HR's either way. I lacked patience, which helped me K 11 times and walk none, but by the 7th I just wanted to get Greinke back on the mound. Prince the only one that hit the ball hard with a 2B and hard hit single, and on Morgan's triple, their centerfielder made one of them lackadaisical attempts at a ball that you sometimes see instead of getting in front of it, so I got third easily. Digging so far...

I'm digging these sliders. Just played ATL @ STL. The Braves won 4-3 in 10 (I was the Cardinals). My three runs were off of two Pujols HRs, but I wasn't patient enough at the plate to really do much. I had some hits, though. Pitching felt right as well. Good work! Thanks!

I hit a HR w/ Heyward with a contact swing on an 2-2 count....opposite field.

Power swing isn't necessary to hit HRs. I have used it rarely and situation has to be just right. Hitters count, (3-1, 2-0,), power hitter, early in the game and I am NOT trailing. I feel in this scenario you can afford to take risk.

In clutch scenarios when I am down in the count 0-2, 2-2 late in games, and need baserunners I use contact.

I have had great results and all types of hits.

Nope - they work with Timing

I highly recommend going with ZONE HITTING though

Played two games with these, so the sample size is about as small as you can get, but so far so good. It's not like there are drastic changes anywhere, but the subtle tweaks really do seem to help.

Playing Pirates @ Cubs, I lost both games 6-5 on go ahead homers in the late innings by Fukudome. Weird, huh? But the games were very different, despite identical scores. Game one was scrappy with a run here & a run there all the way through. Game two had the wind blowing out at 7mph and featured 5 HRs, including a BOMB by Garrett Jones halfway across Sheffield St (didn't ***ch the distance).

Dropping pitch speed to 4 really helped me, at least after a few ABs to a**ust; I was not hitting anything at default. The strike frequency played a big part as well, since I was in more hitter's counts enabling me to manually sit on a zone/pitch with my PCI.

                                I'm so confused...

I could have sworn that Psychobulk used Timing Only, but plays on HOF?

By the way, for all intents and purposes, these sliders are relatively similar to what I'm using, and I hit on HOF (Timing Only) and it's awesome.

This slider set addresses all of my major concerns, so unless someone in this thread says otherwise, there's no reason why your games won't be amazing with Timing Only. I'd recommend HOF, though. Just based on my experience.
