    Goodbye, MLB 11...

I wanted to share my story to those who may also have encountered this problem. Basically, my game is broken. The commentary cuts out after an inning or two and comes back on an inning or two later, or in the most recent case, doesn't even come back. Usually when this happens, when I exit out of the game after it's completed, it freezes in the loading screen. Well, it acts like it's loading but it never completes the load, stays in the screen forever (or sometimes a blank screen with just the loading baserunning icon they have this year).

But sometimes the commentary goes out and the game does load out fine. That's the frustrating part. Be broken all the time if you're going to be broken! It's making me feel like there's a way or a chance to fix this. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the GameData and/or 1.10 patch, same result. Didn't upload my music this time around, same result.

I wanted to see if anyone else had any other ideas because I'm all out. Don't know what to do.

I've had the commentary cut out on previous versons before, and when this happends I just go into options and turn the music option on. However, I've never experienced freezing problems on MLB 11 or any other verson that I can think of. Did you check your disk to make sure it isn't scratched?

Just exchange the copy you have for another. Could have ended up with a bad disc, it happens on occasion.

Do you have any friends that can lend you their copy? Could be the physical disc itself.

Or, how about a gamefly rental?

I'd definitely look into whether or not the disc is the cause.

I had the same exact problem with my copy of MLB 11. However, I fixed it by deleting all the saves and game data from my PS3. The commentary hasn't cut out since. I think the game data was corrupted, especially since the commentary didn't start cutting out until my power went out one time I was playing my Rtts, thus causing my system to shut down improperly. If you have any important saves, I would just delete your game data first before deleting any save files and see if that works.

Hopefully, this fixes your problem as it did mine.

Edit: Oops, didn't see that you already tried deleting the game data. In that case, I dunno what to tell you. Like I said in my post, I deleted everything (game saves and game data) and it fixed the problem for me.

              Re: Goodbye, MLB 11...

Let me answer these in order:

              1. Could be the PS3. But I have no problems with any other game. I do use it frequently (Netflix, MLB.tv, some web browswing, and games of course). It's a fat 80 GB I got in January 09. Could be the disc, too.

              2. I was ready to just use the Music Mode, but even that was cutting out (and subsequent freezes in load screen). Disc is perfect, no scratches, nicks, or smears.

              3. Could be the disc. I have to find my receipt, which I'm having trouble doing. Sucks, because I ALWAYS save these things. Figures the one time... I'll try to trade it in but it's been over 30 days so they'll probably screw me over. I did put $5 to reserve the game so maybe they have record of that.

If I can trade it in for another game disc, I'll go that route. If not, I'm just gonna accept my loss here (trade in for credit or cash, though it'll be fishy if I try to exchange for same game beforehand) and go back to MLB 09. Just really disappointed right now about this whole saga.

              Thanks all!

That sounds a lot like my fat 60gb ps3 before it YLOD'd.

Hate to say it, but same here. I thought the same thing at first too, because it was only NHL 09 that was having trouble. After a week or two it was time for a new ps3.

It sounds like my 80gb fatty with mlb 10. It died about 2 weeks after I picked the game last year and then it ylod. It really sucked too because it was backwards compatible and my slim is not. I sent it in to be repaired and was told the mb melted down.
Good luck and hope its not that but...

It might be your PS3 failing to access certain points of your hard drive. Try and rebuild your hard drive's database.

I had this same thing happen to me, except the voice wouldnt come back on, and at the end of the game, it wouldnt load the next screen. It would just sit at the end game screen.

Turns out, that my laser needed to be replaced. Cost me 100 bucks to replace it. Game and my system have played great since.

I had this happen to me last year with MLB 10. Logic says that this is an issue with your PS3 but that's not supported from my testing. I tried MLB 10 in two PS3s and it had the same issue with both systems. And neither of those PS3s have had any other freezing issues like this with any games. Same PS3 this year with MLB 11 and there's been no freezing issues for me.

I don't know how helpful that info is, but from my experiences, I wouldn't go run out and drop $300 on another PS3. Though at the same time, I never got that fixed and it did pretty much ruin the game for me. I ended up just restarting the game as soon as the audio would cut out.
