I don't get it. This is a good thing. Madden blows and has blown since 2005. Madden 04 was the last good football game they made, everything since has been ****ty. And this guy was one of the reasons why the games are so bad. It's good he left, maybe they'll get somebody like the guys that make FIFA or NHL to take over Madden and actually make it a quality game. Madden's only around still because they're the only football game. If 2k was still in the game, things would be quite different. People would realize how terrible Madden is and how much it does not represent football. But people have been forced into accepting Madden because there's no other option.

Re: Madden Creative Director, Ian Cummings is Leaving Tiburon
Glad someone else feels the same way, just see my post on the page before this. Ian was great with the community, so of course people aren't gonna like that he's gone. But, he never contributed that much to the actual gameI don't get it. This is a good thing. Madden blows and has blown since 2005. Re: Madden Creative Director, Ian Cummings is Leaving Tiburon
Like I said in the poll thread:
Looman is good, but we need some new blood in here. Hell, make this an opportunity to reel in some of the guys from the Backbreaker game and try to get their tackling system into this game. Or go after some of the guys from the NFL/All Pro 2K games,
I know the Backbreaker tackling type implementation would take more than a year, but just a start of it would be better than what we've seen since the start of this franchise on the newest systems.Comment

Re: Madden Creative Director, Ian Cummings is Leaving Tiburon
That's exactly what I was getting at. Who cares if he was great at interacting with the community, him and the other guys in charge never did anything to make the game better. It was always adding bull**** like extra crowd animations, or making the helmets shinier, or a new "feature" like locomotion. How is running a feature? And even that was stupid, I mean I've never seen a person run full speed sideways.
This will either allow new people to maybe create a new engine or fix the current one, or Madden 12 will just be like ELITE 11 and not come out lol.Comment

Re: Madden Creative Director, Ian Cummings is Leaving Tiburon
I don't really think Ian is totally to blame for anything about Madden, I'm sure there is stuff behind the scenes that may have kept certain ideas from being followed up on (budget, time frame, etc...), but I think this is still a good thing.
If the sales are slumping, the development team is falling apart, I can't think of a better reason for EA to finally really go after a good team and pump some money back into the franchise to get it back to the glory days. Anything to break the year in year out cycle of Madden being PAINFULLY stale.Comment

Meh, don't really care. Ian didn't do that much imo. I didn't like the direction the madden series was going anyways. I'm still looking forward to ncaa.Comment

Guys, this is your only warning. You're allowed to not like the direction of Madden, but express it in a mature manner (ie no name calling, bashing or blind hate comments) or there will be consequences.Comment

good news madden been the same game for the past 3 years thats enough time for him and his crew to change it they've fixed things that should have been fixed in each installment or shouldnt have to been fixed. I'm sure a change of leadership and crew should help this game get back on trackComment

Re: Madden Creative Director, Ian Cummings is Leaving Tiburon
- That's quite literally not true, speaking as someone who tolerated M09, loved M10, and liked M11
- It's an annual video game series centered around American football; the sport doesn't exactly evolve from year to year, just what are your expectations?

Re: Madden Creative Director, Ian Cummings is Leaving Tiburon
Not to defend him, but he does have a valid point if he means that though they add features, the core elements of parts of the game are bad.
For instance, if you are good at timing you can pretty much run slants up the field. And the fact that there is no defense at all online.Comment

ah who cares Madden has not been good since 2005. Ian will go with 2k and make a Real NFL Game. Only Good Football Game EA Has is NCAA. and ian will be apart of that team i think witch will be huge for NCaA.Comment

Re: Madden Creative Director, Ian Cummings is Leaving Tiburon
We meet again, lol
The intricacies of the sport have not been tapped into yet. It's not so much the actual game of football where the issue lies. It's that the offline modes offer minimal replay value. Sure, the NFL is the NFL. That's a given. Personally speaking, I love Madden football. I do. I have played and bought every game since I was old enough to afford my own copy. That said, the effort on keeping the player interested off the field was minimal at best in Madden 11. Unless I like collecting virtual cards, there wasn't too much for me (not bashing those who enjoy MUT, just not my cup of tea). I want nothing more than Madden to be the king of sports games again, because the NFL is my bread and butter.
Unfortunately, this year is a bad example. There is no offseason. Any other year, this is my favorite time of the year. More than kickoff weekend, more than the Super Bowl, more than the December push for the playoffs. I live and breathe free agency and the NFL Draft. I'd love to see more emphasis put on these parts of the season in Madden. These two events shape the entire next season, and there are no pads involved.Comment
