Re: MLB 11 The Show Rosters - Operation Sports Full Minors (Opening Day Set)

Whats the importance of doing the 25 man roster and then adding back the 15 players?

Do you have to do it to be correct with Real Life teams?

Rule 5, injuries (the callups), and all that jazz use the 40 man roster. You don't have to use the real 40 man rosters. You could set whatever 15 you want.

Well here is my situation and I want it to be correct.

I have gone to 3/30 and set all my injuries manual on the day they was actual injured in RL. I want the same rosters that the 40 man are for the RL teams. I want them to be authentic to RL. Do I need to call up the players that was called up to replace them on the 40 man?

        Sorry Newb here.

Edgar Gonzalez on the free agent list can replace one of the duplicates of Leslie Anderson on the Rays.

            Knight?
When you enter Spring Training, the CPU will convert ALL players on your 40 man roster to the MLB level.
All 40-man players HAVE to be at the MLB level to be available for Spring Training.
Before you choose "Exit Spring Training/Enter regular season", you have to reassign which (15) players on the 40-man roster to send to AAA/AA, or else the CPU will do it for you.
Unfortunately, the CPU will not trim the team down to the 25-man roster that you had before entering Spring Training.
Instead it will use the game's logic to decide who to keep at the MLB level, as well as the rotation, pen, lineup, and bench.
That's just the way it is.

The easy way.. if you plan to skip Spring Training for year 1, just trim the 40-man down to 25 before entering Spring Training.
That way you go into it with 25/25 and not 25/40. Simulate through Spring Training. End Spring Training. Enter regular Season. NOW you go through and add those additional 15 players BACK to the 40-man roster.
Lineups, rotations, etc. should be just as they were on the original roster file (Assuming you had selected MANUAL for those decisions ahead of time).

Anyway... I actually have a question myself.
When simulating through Spring Training games with only 25 players and no 40-man invites then are you robbing those 15 guys of any kind of "progression" experience?
Any do you burn out your regulars by having them start and finish all those Spring Training games?
Obviously in real life it would be asinine you roll out your 25-man squad to Spring Training and play them full time.
But does the game's logic engine recognize this and "penalize" you for it in anyway?
            Take one pass it on

so knight's work in getting lineups and rotations right for the minors is all for naught? or does it keep the lineups and rotations regardless of the extra guys being in the majors?

can't believe i never noticed this

                It does not.

If there are extra guys in the majors the lineups get reshuffled. That's what we are trying to explain.............................

i know it shuffles them once you advance to regular season - what happens to the AAA/AA lineups during spring BEFORE You advance?

Nothing. AAA/AA doesn't really exist until the regular season in the game.
HOWEVER...if you don't reassign the players from the base set with the lineups/rotations in place to the same levels...it will reshuffle.

Yes....it is a bit of a pain in the rear end.

First off, thank you guys who put so much work into these rosters! It greatly improves my enjoyment of the best video game series ever created.

With that said, this may be the most confused I have ever been when reading a thread. I have downloaded Owl's 25 man rosters, but where can I find a list of the 15 players that I need to add back to the 40 man? Also, just to clarify I need to do this AFTER I enter the regular season, correct?

I used this roster set and its awesome, but when i sim till the start of the season i saw santana and wainwright in the mlb team. So would i have to fix the lineups and rotations manually after ST? I dont care about guys on the dl to start the yr if they scheduled to come back in a few weeks. Its just the guys out of the yr

The roster and franchise are two different things. The roster file has 25 men at MLB level, and the correct 40 man rosters.

When you begin franchise with the roster file, (not the modified roster Hustlin released) the spring training rosters are 40 men on both the MLB roster and 40 man roster. If you choose to go the route I took, you need to cut this down to 25 men on the MLB squad second from last day of ST - those men REMAIN on the active 40 man roster (just as in real life - you will use an option to option them down to the minors)

Also remember that done correctly, both the 40 man and 25 man MLB roster will have more than 40 or 25 guys respectively as DL assignments don't count against the total.

Thanks to all who worked on these...tremendous stuff. Also a great idea to set up a franchise once (turn off auto-saves) and then re-save your franchise another name....that way if you ever want to start a new one you always have a base file so you don't need to set-up for opening a day more than once.
I have a file with them removed along with lefties corrected, but the plan is to release another set at the end of the week with pitch edits.

                                Indeed. But totally worth it!

Like I said, it will take about 3-4 hours to do everything EXACTLY. Last year I distributed the Franchise file saved at this point, but this year SCEA says no soup.

Thanks again for the time invested in these mate.
