Anyone else more proud of getting 4 bbs than 4 HRs in a single game?

I'm *finally* getting a couple walks a game, and it feels like I'm a friggin' pro. My HR numbers are garbage, but at least I'm getting my eye.

Yes. My goal every game is to try and get at least 3 walks a game. And to strike out less than 10 times a game

Yeah, I'm the same way. I just recently walked four times in a game( first time ever in the show). I was jumping up after each walk, pumping my fist. I've been able to walk in other games like 2k and mvp but have always had a hard time with the show. It's nice to drive up the opposition pitch count. My first 10-15 games the opposing pitcher would average about 60-75 pitches against me, now the last 5-6 games it's more like 90-115. Makes a big difference.

        Definitely.

I walked 7 times in a game last night! It's very rewarding.

The day I draw 2 walks in a game I"m celebrating. If I draw FOUR?!!?!?!? All of OS is celebrating!

I"m trying....slowly :P I just can't get my head to accept taking called strikes...

Holy crap, I'm up to 5 walks in a game. I'm delirious with happiness, despite the fact that I've struck out 11 times so far.

@heroes -- Up until today, I never thought 7 walks would be possible. Now... it's conceivable, if highly unlikely.

Sigh. Make that 12 Ks for the game, 5 bbs. I'll take it, I guess. Damn my chasing heart.

What I usually do is look at the starter I'm facing and his ratings under the select screen. If his base on ball rating is low I really try and work the pitcher. If he is a pitcher that is prone to losing control as he gets tired coupled with the confidence meter sinking I really try and work his pitches. That usually helps me achieve walks.

What I love about this game is that that's not always a guarantee.

If the pitcher has a high rating for throwing strikes I'm usually in there attacking. You're not usually going to work alot of walks against say Roy Halladay. You might as well go in there looking for your pitch. Most of the time he hits both sides of the plate well. You have to go to opposite field against him.

Yea, I would find it a great accomplishment to get 4 walks as opposed to 4 HRs in a game. I have yet to walk even once but I am only ~5 games into my RTTS.

                  I must be a loser because I've never had 4 bb's or 4 HR's in a game.

Yep, that's pretty good. I usually walk about 2x/game. Any more than that for me leaves me turning my PS3 off feeling pretty good. I think your mindset going into a game makes a difference. There's times when I go into a game feeling hurried and wanting to get it out of the way. Other times I go into the game thinking I'm gonna take my time and even let the batter do his animation thing outside the batters box after every pitch. I know that sounds weird but that's when I play the best, hit the best, pitch the best, and draw the most BB. I'm sure someone knows what I'm saying. Oh and go buy yourself a pack of Big League Chew lol:wink:

Yeah, I love drawing a walk because it feels like a freebie or something even though it is work to get a walk. One of my best games recently was drawing 6 walks off A.J. Burnett in 5 innings, I got some hits as well and was able to put up some runs. Anyone can hit a HR just by swinging all game but putting up good ABs on a consistent basis is what it's all about. The more runners you get on, the more runs you can score.

I few days ago I played a 13 inning game where I drew 12 walks. The other team threw 245 pitches and 108 were balls. It was awesome! I have had a 8 walk game since, but other than those 2 games I average around 3 and on my teams excel stat sheet that I keep I have my goal of 3 BB's and 6 K's and where I am at. The 6 K's thing is a pipe dream lmao...

I was a total free swinger when I first bought a PS3 and this game a month ago... but I walk between 1 and 3 times per game most games and hit a lot of homeruns on veteran analog hitting. I started at rookie and eventually was able to stop swinging at everything. It's an extremely tough habit to break but I feel so great now that I've done it. Fielding is still a challenge but I'm enjoying the game very much overall.

MLB avg is about 3 BB and 6 SO per game. I try to beat that, esp. the BB end. I've better luck with SO so far.

The walks have always been in this game, even in previous years, people just havent had the patience.

Thru 11 games in my Tigers chise i have 41 walks, good for 7th in the league, and above the MLB average.

Will Rhymes (whos not hitting) has walked 9 times himself alone!
