25 New Plays Coming to Madden NFL 12 - Play #20: Sugar Blitz

Over the next few weeks, EA Sports will show 25 new plays that you will find in Madden NFL 12.

To be clear, there are more than 25 new plays in the game. Each day, a new play will be accompanied by a screen of the play art and a brief description of why the play has been added to Madden NFL 12.

Play #20 features the Sugar Blitz.

Sub 2-3-6 Even Sugar Blitz – Sub 2-3-6 Even – is a defensive set in which the two outside linebackers will align in a three point stance. This gives the defense a four down linemen look with two athletic speed rushers coming off the edge. The Sugar Blitz is a play in which the middle linebacker and strong safety will align in the left and right A gaps in order to blitz.

The Bills used to have a "Sugar Rush" when Fewell was there, but they would used 4 linemen (sometimes DEs) in a two point stance. Hopefully a package option will be added to ALL the defensive formations for 4 defensive ends.

They are putting out a lot blitz plays in this year for madden12. I'm really hoping the DBs and safies do a lot better on coverage. But this play does look pretty sweet and all. This might be a play worth putting into the custom playbook once the game comes out.

They are putting out a lot blitz plays in this year for madden12.

Clearly, they know their fanbase.

90% of the guys you play online just blitz their *** off and play bump man all game.

i like this play, i think i may even have to incorporate it into my defense that i coach. I'm always getting new ideas when i watch 3-4 teams like NE, Pitt & NYJ and some of these plays theyve been showing have had my mind working on new little wrinkles to add. I'm glad defense is finally getting some love from NCAA & Madden this year. Hopefully not every game is a big scoring one if you wanna play longer quarters.

Cool blitz. I'd love to see it in action and how the o-line will respond.

Edit: I'd like to see them duplicate both offensive & defensive plays in similar formations/fronts. This will only be in the 2-3-6 even set. It should be in ALL 2-3-6 sets.

I was hoping they would incorporate the hashmarks into the screen so that you can see the different techniques that the corners are playing, like NCAA is doing.

I can tell you for sure that either 1 of 2 things WILL happen if just the OL is blocking with no help.....

1. either of the a gap blitzers will come untouched
2. A LB (DE spot) will come untouched...

I love the new plays but I have to question why they are adding more plays? Wasn't the entire point to last year's game was that they were TOO many plays? So now instead of having 300 plays (which was the original complaint last year), we have 325?

I'm not trying to be funny, I'm just questioning the logic behind adding yet more plays.

I like, reminds me of (Madden 11) Nickel (forgot the plays name) but both the MLB and ROLB blitz, and if you pinched your LB's they lined up nearly exactly like this. Re-blitzing to get the correct angle was important.

They can keep the new offensive plays. Just duplicate many of the current plays over different/similar formations so that I can run them from different looks. For example, there shouldn't be a run play in I-Twins that's not in all other I formations.

We need ALL the new plays on defense since it's obvious they still haven't tiered the play calling. And defensive "plays" need to also be duplicated over similar fronts... 4-3 over, under, normal, stack, ect.
