Re: NCAA Football 12 - Pre-Order Nike Pro Combat Bonuses and Enhanced Tackling Engine
I'll say one thing and thats it.... thats how business in america worksIt's principle, I should get the same game whether I buy it from Amazon/Best Buy/EB/wherever else. I'm not talking about buying it before the street date either. The fact that EA struck a deal with EB to make both companies extra money is sickening. EB hasn't done anything to earn my business other than trying to pay off EA. And why should I preorder a game I know I'll be able to get on release day guaranteed?Last edited by AndrewGW88; 04-22-2011, 11:39 PM.Comment

I know thats how business works in America, but that doesn't make it OK or mean I should just shrug it off. Not even about the jerseys honestly it's just principle.
Nothing bad gonna happen from me not going to break any rules don't see why this should be locked.Comment

So i guess you never bought anything that said, "BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED." You are getting the same game. The game is not different. Not buying it from Gamestop is not going to impact the game. You just don't get the exclusive of having the jerseys. This attitude is exactly why they can get away with doing things like this.

You seem to hold a gripe with EA and Gamestop because they are big businesses. What is so sickening about a company making a deal with another company who sells their product and does what they ask by not releasing it early and happens to be the largest retailer for that product? Thats business. Best Buy will have the exclusive to sell the HTC Flyer Tablet. On their website Best Buy also sells a "Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy - Best Buy Exclusive Edition" dvd. So quit acting like this is some unusual practice. Other video games charge money for extra things. Call of Duty charges you $15 for new map packs.
And to answer your last question, to get the pro combat uniforms duh! Thats why they offer them, to get you to preorder. You say you know you'll be able to buy it on release day so whats the big deal putting $5 down now and paying $5 less than you would on release day? I know your answer will be principle but in the real world that answer is meaningless.
Mom & Pop stores will break the release date and sell early because they dont care about the release date, whatever gets them more sales instead of you going to the big chains. How is that any better than a company following the release date and even offering an incentive to buying from them. The Mom & Pop stores that break the date and the ones who are wrong and unethical because they are breaking an agreement. But since that benefits you & me by getting the game early, we dont care. But i'm sure it bothers EA when stores do this, that is why they have gone to greater lengths to discourage this.
And in all reality, you probably can walk into a Gamestop on release day without preordering the game and buy it and end up with the codes. I know when UFC did the preorder for the extra fighters i didnt preorder the game but went to the Gamestop by me on release day, bought the game and the codes were there anyway. But thats a risk you take depending on how much business your local Gamestop does.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 12 - Pre-Order Nike Pro Combat Bonuses and Enhanced Tackling Engine
and i keep seeing people say "i'm not a fan of Gamestop" or displaying dislike with Gamestop and i dont understand why? Is there a personal experience you had? Is it because they don't sell the game early? Is it because they are a big chain? I've bought many games and sold games to Gamestop and i've never once had an issue with them. Its not like they are selling games for more money than other stores. They are pretty accessible with many locations and if there isn't one around there is the option to order online. Maybe you dealt with a jerk employee but that speaks more to that employee (maybe he/she was having a bad day, is not a nice person) than the company itself. I'm just curious as to the hatred towards Gamestop. And that isn't directed at any one person, i'm just curious.Comment

not that i dont like all gamestops, just not the one where im around. ive had to bad experiences with them, First was Call of Duty i bought i and hey it had no disc in it haha and it was sealed, they wouldnt do ****. and 2 i bought ncaa 11 at midnight, and took it home and the damn game didnt work. Neither time did i get a replacement game i was really pissed. So im preordering it from them getting the codes, then going to take the preorder off and get it from walmart with my discount there.Go Bucks!!Comment

Re: NCAA Football 12 - Pre-Order Nike Pro Combat Bonuses and Enhanced Tackling Engine
those gripes are understandable but again if you bought a sealed Call of Duty game with no disc inside is that their fault or the company that made the game and shipped it to the store that way? Same for the disc not working for NCAA 11. Although not getting a replacement is on them and i dont understand why you wouldnt get a replacement for NCAA 11 because i've taken back games that skipped or didn't work properly and as long as i had my receipt i got a replacement. I can understand them not replacing the Call of Duty issue though because theres no way for you to prove to them that you didnt go home, take the game out and go back and say there was no game inside so that one is a little trickier. But those same problems could have happened had you bought the game at Walmart.not that i dont like all gamestops, just not the one where im around. ive had to bad experiences with them, First was Call of Duty i bought i and hey it had no disc in it haha and it was sealed, they wouldnt do ****. and 2 i bought ncaa 11 at midnight, and took it home and the damn game didnt work. haha yea thats tough situation. Aside from opening it right in front of their face its still hard for them to know you didnt take the game out yourself. I know you didnt because i believe you but just playing Devil's Advocate here and explaining their side i guess. But yea i'd just avoid buying from that particular store. Maybe just order online and have it shipped or if you dont want to pay shipping then i guess do what you said you were gonna do. I just hope for you the same thing doesnt happen this time at walmart haha oh the irony that would be.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 12 - Pre-Order Nike Pro Combat Bonuses and Enhanced Tackling Engine
haha im the electronics guy there so i would deff. double check myself before buying trust me. when we get them in like a week early im the one in the back reading the guide and the stradegy book haha and pictures on the back of the case, like i did with nascar, last monday i was playing Mortal Kombat at 8:30 on the big screens showing people the game so they would buy it at midnight, they watched i had tons of fun. I hope i can do that for NCAAGo Bucks!!Comment

Re: NCAA Football 12 - Pre-Order Nike Pro Combat Bonuses and Enhanced Tackling Engine
This analogy is beyond terrible. If I buy a toy that needs batteries it's understandable because it's two separate companies, one that makes the toy the other that makes batteries. Thats not even close to the same as a company giving you a code to donwload DLC or unlock something already on the disc. It's more like if I bought a 12 back of AAA duracels but found out there were only 11 in the package because I bought them from Walmart instead of Staples.
I hold a gripe with EA Gamestop because I don't like seeing companies nickle and dime people. Or use shady tactics to drive business to their store. If Best Buy does it shame on them too. And I don't play CoD but the whole map packs thing falls into the exact same category. The people behind CoD might be worse than EA when it comes to this sort of thing. If your point is "well everyone does it so EA's not bad" then just stop. You seem to hold a gripe with EA and Gamestop because they are big businesses. First I haven't decided whether or not I want to buy the game, so I'm in no hurry to reserve a copy. Second I have never been in a situation where I was unable to find the game on release day so preordering is unnecessary. Third I have gift cards to other stores that sell the game and I can basically get it for free. But if I buy from those stores I won't get the same game I'll get if I buy from Gamestop. Disgustya. And to answer your last question, to get the pro combat uniforms duh! Thats why they offer them, to get you to preorder. Irrelevant to me. First off to my knowledge there are no mom and pop electronic stores in my town that sell new xbox 360 games. Second to pretend this is about the street date is ignoring the fact that this is a gamestop exclusive deal, not a deal exclusive to all sites that generally honor the street date. Trying to frame this as a reward to gamestop for adhering to the street date and customers for doing the same is just lol.Mom & Pop stores will break the release date and sell early because they dont care about the release date, whatever gets them more sales instead of you going to the big chains. Yeah obviously. I can also walk into walmart on release date and buy it w/o the codes. There shouldn't be codes though, scummy business tactic. And in all reality, you probably can walk into a Gamestop on release day without preordering the game and buy it and end up with the codes. I don't think you will get the codes unless you actually buy (and pre-order, of course) the game from Gamestop. I could be wrong though.not that i dont like all gamestops, just not the one where im around. ive had to bad experiences with them, First was Call of Duty i bought i and hey it had no disc in it haha and it was sealed, they wouldnt do ****. and 2 i bought ncaa 11 at midnight, and took it home and the damn game didnt work.
