Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
Do they actually want to be on the cover? I remember LT turned down the Madden cover awhile back and appeared on Gameday. Manning already had Fever. Peterson got beat fair this year after pulling off some upsets according to his seeding. EA really isn't about always putting the biggest names on their covers. In all sports their have been big names that have never graced a cover. They gave every team a shot for the cover. Who else was going to be on it for Cleveland? Joe Thomas? Joe Haden? Colt McCoy? A picture of their punter after that great run against the Saints? Hillis was easily the Brown's player that garnered the most spotlight last year. Looking at the teams who fared poorly last season, it seems like they picked the players who were talked about mostly last year (besides the two 15 seeds maybe). Is Steve Johnson really more known than Lee Evans? Is Suh really a bigger name than Calvin Johnson? No disrespect to Hillis, but it's sort of laughable for him to be on the cover when looking and some of the current stars who have yet to grace the cover. Let's see: there's Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, LT, Adrian Peterson, Aaron Rogers, and many other household names that haven't been on the cover.
Honestly, Peyton Hillis being in the running for the cover seem like a prank to me.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
Yeah, but look at the people who were on the cover before he was. You have Vince Young who wasn't in the league that long, but he lead Texas to a National Championship, he was a high round draft pick, and he was the Rookie Of The Year. The year before that you had Shaun Alexander; the year before that you had Donovan McNabb, then Ray lewis, then Micheal Vick, then Culpepper, I think you get the idea. I'm not saying that those players were better , or bigger stars, than Favre, but they were all household names with a lot of notoriety. Hillis isn't.
Honestly, I think that people are voting for him because they think it would be hilarious for him to be on the cover.Comment

I suspect that's what was happening until now. Now I think VickHate™ has taken over in the voter's minds.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

I understand that there are big name players that don't get the cover, but look at other sports titles. The player on the cover is usually someone a lot of people would recognize whether they actually follow the sport or not.Do they actually want to be on the cover? I understand what you are saying, but besides Ray Lewis, any of them HOF worthy like Favre?Yeah, but look at the people who were on the cover before he was. They weren't elite players, either.
Just saying.Comment

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
They were elite. Elite doesn't necessarily mean a future Hall of Famer. Hillis has just come onto the scene. Rogers, Peterson, Matt Ryan aren't necessarily future Hall of Famers. They may be Hall of Famers when it's all said and done, but it's premature to say that about them now. That being said, they're all bigger household names than Hillis.
I have nothing against Hillis , and voted for him in favor of Vick as I'm scared of the curse, but Hillis actually being on the cover just seems like a big joke to me.
This is EA's way of giving the fans some control over who's on the cover, and Hillis, who before this year was virtually unknown, gives people the impression that they control more so than seeing a perennial star on the cover like every other year. At least that's my theory.Comment

Some of those players burned out before the faded away.Comment

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
If Hillis wasn't well known why the heck would he be leading the voting?
You guys crack me up. Dude was an absolute stud last year. Vick had a great year too and nobody is going to debate that.
Madden would get way more pub (both positive & negative) with Vick on the cover and I'd put money on it selling better.
Whatever, go back to looking up stats and supporting your important argument over a message board.

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
I could care less who is on the cover EA. Just make a decent game and quit with all the WWE gimics. I mean really . Battlefield 3 is showing us 12 minutes of gameplay and we getting these stupid ideas like vote for the cover. Seriously? Show us the game!Comment

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
ESPN just put this article on their front page:With the Front Page Headline "Vick thrilled to have chance at Madden 12 cover" and the article headline "Michael Vick hopes for Madden cover". Which pretty much confirms that he's behind right now, and apparently they want to try and get him more votes before this ends. They only mention Hillis briefly in the article.Code:http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6425042
