Hitting the pitcher
I hit the pitcher about 2 times a game with a grounder up the middle. It starts to get annoying when every time it happens the ball bounces right to a fielder so he can throw me out. If the ball would have got through it would have been an easy single. Plus everytime the ball hits the pitcher it goes to the cut scene of the staff checking him out and him limping around, but hes never hurt. I dont even get a hurt pitcher out of the whole thing, just an out. Anyone else having this problem?Tags: None -
Re: Hitting the pitcher
Yeah. I'm losing 2-3 hits a game. They are hard hits/line drives that would easily go through for singles up the middle. The P interface is tight this year with regards to balls in the vicinity that get knocked down by being hit near the P; ironic compared to the complaints about other fielders getting balls right through them or under their glove so close.
Not much to do about it unless they decide to patch, but don't think too many have stated this or requested a change. You can always adjust sliders and pick up hits other ways. I understand the annoyance, but it happens and not much to do about it.Last edited by aktransplant007; 04-26-2011, 05:44 PM. -

I'm not sure what the end result is supposed to be (1 or 2 years down the road). I think it hits them too many times. I don't recall seeing that many hits in real life. They somehow need to find the happy medium, because I don't think you'd be happy right now if the guy was injured every time.
There clearly were some 'tweaks' to that system in the most recent patch. I think the pitcher handles more balls in that area now, which should reduce the number that ricochet of him.
It does seem that nearly every ball that ricochet's off him is fielded cleanly and you end up getting thrown out.Comment

Re: Hitting the pitcher
the thing is in the 60 or so games I've played since I bought the game, i've hit the opposing pitcher at least 100 times... and yet their balls magically go through my pitcher for singles.... makes no sense.
Some times this game is bull****, in this sense and the slow mo animations in the outfield that once again seem to not affect the CPU.... But hey I love it and thats why I bought the ps3 and its why this is the only game I own.Comment

Re: Hitting the pitcher
Yeah, I can see your complaint. I think it is something that is progressing in the game. What I mean is that two years ago the ball never hit the pitcher, then last year it hit him, but there was no 'result' in game (the commentary never mentioned it, and he didn't 'limp' around etc..), now this year it hits him and then he limps around etc...
