OS Interviews EA Football GM Cam Weber

Cam Weber is a popular guy these days. With the first hands-on impressions of Madden 12 hitting this Thursday -- and NCAA Football last week -- , as well as the news and rumors swirling around Madden, people want to know about the "new" guy heading up the digital version of the most popular sport in America. So we caught up with Cam and asked him some questions about the present and future of EA Sports football.

Well. it all sounded good. The new GM appears to be listening to sim gamers, and adding the new core gameplay team should help a lot. Guess we will see in a few months.

Sounds good, I just hope it actually plays god. Anybody can make something sound amazing, but not everyone can make something amazing.

Sounds good. I'm really hoping for a fundamentally sound and fun sim football experience that i can play competitively online and not have to worry about exploits.

Rather have strategy come into play online, where every online game against a new opponent feels like I'm going up against a New coach, with a new strategy, and i have to play accordingly. That's what makes videogames fun for me. When playing online competetively is a challenge but fun at the same time.

Just a cautionary note. Don't know how much impact he will have on 12 since he came in Feb and it's now in alpha.

I do like the direction it's taking.

" On top of that, it is critical that we deliver compelling depth modes. Whether it is providing a rich and deep Franchise/Dynasty mode or Superstar/Road to Glory mode, we need to continue to continuously invest in making these modes as deep and as realistic as possible.
                • Weโ€™ve focused heavily on our depth modes as well -- with numerous additions and improvements to our Franchise, Superstar, Dynasty and Road to Glory modes. Also, we continue to deepen our online experience across both franchises with unique new modes and functionality for our consumers to compete with friends and other members of our communities."
I cant wait to see this info

Yeah I liked everything he's saying, but most people at EA know how to speak to the media to make it sound good. I'll be interested to see what next year's games will be like(seems to be always the next year with EA).

That was a good interview. Got me pumped up.. I still think online games won't change too much as long as were forced to play on all-pro. They may cut out the glitches but the AI is still going to take a hit if its on all-pro. Its nothing sim about all-pro. Never has been..

Re: OS Interviews EA Football GM Cam Weber

Normally these interviews sound media driven. I can honestly say that I didn't get the impression of that. he knew who he was talking to and the expectation and other than unrealised info about the games. I feel like he was truthful and upfront with all the info and ongoings. Honestly this is what we want this type of person. I remember reading on here someone saying that we need to get the guy in charge of FIFA or people from there to get NCAA and Madden to where FIFA is . Well we got it . Now we OS must be patient and wait , not jump to conclusions or make silly threads when we don't know what's going to happen.

I read a lot of the other interviews with this guy, but OS seemed to get the most out of him. I like how he finally elaborated on what he meant by the "doubling" of the development team, which he was really referring to the core team that may have been quite small.

After this interview, I'm more confident in the direction that Madden will go in the future with Cam Weber at the helm.

I like that he outlined His plan as the Leader.
Both sides have always lacked in laying out the Vision/Plan for each series.

The only thing I would say is I wish He would really just lay out were the games are right now in light of HIs Vision.
Enough with the hush-hush, marketing strategies etc...etc... etc...
He rolled out The New Vision, now be honest and let the gamers know what they will be getiing in July.

The worst thing to do (as done since being on Next-Gen) is Market and build expectations that we're getting something New and Innovative then find out that very little was changed.

I think part of the skeptism as noted above has to do with how the same Marketing Strategy is being used although there is a New Leader who seems to have the Plan the community has been craving for.

In a nutshell, the worst thing that could happen after saying all the things the community wanted to hear, is come July and August, the games released differ little from last years versions.
                          Especially as far as "Gameplay".

Can't wait to rent and see what the Truth is come July!!!

I like what he said though.

Look...all i know is, if this guy can get get Madden and NCAA to move, look, and be as fluid as FIFA, I will buy both games every year without question. We will have to wait and see.

I think you need to be a bit more realistic. We won't know this person's impact until next year at least with only being there for 6 weeks.
