Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
I don't think people voted for popularity not in Hillis's case anyway. I really think people wanted to see if a guy like Hillis could win this thing. He's a underdog and a Brownie at that. IMHO, millions upon millions of people wanted to see him win just for the sake of seeing if he could do it, to see if this thing isn't rigged, or whatever reason they had.
Plus as many have already mentioned, Vick...as much as people like/love him there is just as many people that hate/dislike him if not more. I mean if people really think Hillis is more popular than Aaron Rodgers then they need to quit smokin' that good stuff.Originally posted by WatsonTigerOne out of 7 billion, and we still tagged your ***.Comment

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
i disagree, hillis is more than deserving of the cover and i doubt this was a browns and razorback conspiracy against vickComment

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
Where did I say it was a Browns conspiracy against Vick. And technically it was since they kinda wanted their guy to win it no? And Hillis is "more than deserving"? Give me a break.
I want to be clear that I couldn't care less who won the cover (Vick would have been more entertaining to see) but the Hillis is amazing, all-time, shoulda got the cover even without a tournament-esque stuff is far off base to me at least.Comment

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
I don't think he deserved anything. Why does he deserve to be on the cover any more than Vick, Aaron Rodgers, AP or even MJD? He had one break out year.Originally posted by WatsonTigerOne out of 7 billion, and we still tagged your ***.Comment

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
Seriously, I could probably name drop 40 players that are more popular before dropping Hillis's name out of my mouth. Most have continued to do what they do at a elite/very good level for a long time.Originally posted by J-SKImy theory is this.....payton hillis IS in fact very popular and yes he is in the top 20 especially in the eyes of white america. he is the first really good white running back in a very long time and although makes no difference in my eyes i know of people who love him just for that. if rogers was as popular as some people think, than rogers would probably beat out hillis and go on to win especially since he won the superbowl.....however IMO rogers isn't that popular outside of the green bay nation.Originally posted by WatsonTigerOne out of 7 billion, and we still tagged your ***.Comment

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
Had Josh Cribbs been on the ballot instead of Hillis, nobody would be talking about him. As soon as the Browns last game was over and ESPN moved on, he disappeared off the planet until the cover contest started up.Comment

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
its not about who has been the best player for years etc.....than tom brady or payton manning would be on every cover, its about the next great thing it always has been. nothing wrong with iphone 3 but millions of people went and got the iphone 4. bottom line, the "break out" players are the ones that make this sport so exciting...the miles austins, the payton hillis, the woodheads, and yes the vick's is what people are talking about. not tom brady who won his 5th or whatever mvp or ap who has been a dominating running back since pre-school.Comment

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
Just because, a player has a break out year doesn't mean he's now a top 10 or even a top 20 in terms of being nationally known, a household name or popular than a player that is on a more popular team and especially if that player has been doing it longer than he has.
Sure he'll now become more popular now that he's on the cover of madden but, I wouldn't put him in the top 30 at the least. I mean really there is A LOT of really popular players. Think top 10 or top 5 at each position(the elite) and put them all in front of Hillis plus more than that and the names pile up over him.Originally posted by WatsonTigerOne out of 7 billion, and we still tagged your ***.Comment

Re: Hillis Ahead of Vick For Madden NFL 12 Cover
Yeah, and I'm bored. And I don't really care about the cover. I've just become less and less of a Hillis fan as the days have gone by and reading these threads.
EA ruined Peyton Hillis for me!!!Comment

How does longevity not have to do with popularity? Popularity begins with how good you are and how long you can do it when it comes to sports.its not about who has been the best player for years etc.....than tom brady or payton manning would be on every cover, its about the next great thing it always has been. nothing wrong with iphone 3 but millions of people went and got the iphone 4. bottom line, the "break out" players are the ones that make this sport so exciting...the miles austins, the payton hillis, the woodheads, and yes the vick's is what people are talking about. not tom brady who won his 5th or whatever mvp or ap who has been a dominating running back since pre-school.Originally posted by WatsonTigerOne out of 7 billion, and we still tagged your ***.Comment
