I've done it a lot by accident in practice and it seems like a pretty useful move but I need to know the controls for it so I can pull it off consistently

Y + Away from the basket. Go into practice mode and it tells you how to do all of the moves. As well as the instruction book

Size-Up-hold LT push up on LS. I suggest practicing all the different size ups and all the different ways you can explode out off them. A lot of hidden variety in these moves if you experiment a bit. The stepback move here, judging by the smoothness of it, seems to be one of the sig stepbacks that can be assigned in edit player. To pull it off just move the shot pick away from the basket.

Y + Away from the basket.

This or while runnig paralel to the basket, push the shot shick away from the basket. So from that view, push right on the right analog stick while in motion/running.

yea i was gonna say, the shot stick is easier.
