    Sharks announce new GM

Doug Wilson has stepped down as GM of the San Jose Sharks for personal reasons, and in his place steps in Zach Gardener, who has been serving as a Gm in the European leagues for 13 years. The move has been questioned by many, but the Sharks ownership is confident in his ability to help the Sharks finally win a Stanley Cup. The newly appointed GM released the following statement today:

โ€œI know that many are concerned about my relative lack of experience in the North American leagues, but Iโ€™m confident that I can keep this team in competitive shape for years to come. We have a strong group of core players made up of veterans and young players alike. However, I will be looking for ways to improve during the upcoming draft and offseason. This upcoming season Iโ€™m hoping our team can shake off past failures to finally win a championship.โ€

        Sharks, Bolts swap โ€œDโ€

        SJS Gets: D Paul Ranger
        Age: 25 Height: 6โ€™3โ€ Weight: 208 lbs
        Contract: RFA Handedness: Left

TBL Gets: D Marc Edouard Vlasic
        Age: 23 Height: 6โ€™1โ€ Weight: 200 lbs
Contract: 3 years $3.100M Handedness: Left

Zach Gardener made his first move for the Sharks on draft day with the Tampa Bay Lightning, sending defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic to the Bolts in exchange for Paul Ranger. When asked by the media about the trade, the Sharks GM commented:

โ€œBoth Ranger and Vlasic are talented defensemen, and while it saddens me to have to let Marc go, I believe we gain more size and experience on the back end with Paul coming in.โ€

Gardenerโ€™s first task now that the draft is concluded will be negotiating contracts for RFAs Devin Setoguchi and Paul Ranger. He will also need to decide what to do with pending UFAs Evgeni Nabokov, Manny Malhotra and Niclas Wallin.

          Sharks Resign Key Players

The Sharks made a bold move during the resign phase, opting not to resign franchise goaltender Evgeni Nabokov. Manny Malhotra was also let go. The Sharks did however resign a few key players, including:

          Devin Setoguchi
          2 years $2.910M

          Paul Ranger
          2 years $2.965M

          Niclas Wallin
          2 years $0.900M

          Jed Ortmeyer
          1 years $0.675M

          Scott Nichol
          2 years $0.570M

          Others Resigned:
          Jay Leach
          Ryan Vesce
          Joe Callahan
          Brett Sterling
          Derek Joslin
          Matthew Jones
          Steven Zalewski
          Julien Demers

Re: San Jose Sharks (NHL 11 BAGM)

Former Captain, New Goalie Join Sharks

            SJS Signs:

            Jose Theodore
            2 years $1.990M

            Owen Nolan
            1years $0.590M

38 year old Owen Nolan is rejoining the San Jose Sharks for one last attempt at the cup. Nolan spent his best years captaining the Sharks, and is one of the highest scorers in franchise history. He has never won a Stanley Cup, and this may be his best and final chance. His presence in the locker room should bring leadership and stability to the Sharks in the upcoming season. GM Zach Gardener had this to say:

โ€œWhen I looked at the free agent pool, I was looking for a gritty veteran to shore up our bottom six forwards. Owen has all of these traits, and I expect his presence on the team to increase our chances of winning a championship. He has never won one before, and now near the end of his career, weโ€™re going to do all we can here in San Jose to get him a cup ring.โ€

Also signed today was goaltender Jose Theodore. After electing not to sign Evgeni Nabokov, the Sharks were left without a starting goalie for the upcoming season. With this signing, they hope to eliminate that problem. The Sharks GM released this comment:

โ€œObviously it was a tough decision to let Nabby go, but we are transitioning in to a new era here in lace, and while our top goaltending prospects are developing, Jose will be our goalie. He is coming off of a solid season of 30 wins and only 14 losses and is also a former Vezina and Hart winner. We expect him to mentor our young backup goalie, Tomas Greiss as we work him in to a bigger role.โ€

                  Sharks Season Preview

Last year, the Sharks had yet another fantastic regular season followed by a disappointing playoff performance, being defeated by the eventual champions Chicago Blackhawks in the conference finals. This year, the Sharks need to forget about years past and start winning in the playoffs. Joe Thornton has been appointed the new captain after Rob Blakeโ€™s retirement, with Owen Nolan and Dan Boyle serving as alternate captains.

                  Offense:
Scoring shouldnโ€™t be a problem for the Sharks this season, as their lineup features talented snipers Setoguchi, Heatley and Marleau along with playmakers Thornton and Pavelski. The Sharks also possess power forwards Owen Nolan and Ryan Clowe. The bottom six will provide grit and checking with players such as McGinn, Nichol, Ortmeyer and Mitchell.

                  Defense:
Dan Boyle emerges as the definite #1 defenseman for the Sharks with Rob Blakeโ€™s retirement. He will have a new defensive partner as well, as M-A Vlasic was shipped to Tampa in exchange for Paul Ranger. The second pairing for the Sharks features Swedish bruisers Doug Murray and Niclas Wallin. Kent Huskins and young Jason Demers will patrol the San Jose blueline on the third pairing.

                  Goaltending:
Probably the biggest question mark heading in to the season, Jose Theodore and Thomas Greiss will stop pucks for the Sharks this year. Theodore has the talent, but consistency is always an issue. Thomas Greiss is still young and inexperienced. one will have to step up if the Sharks are going to make any significant progress in the playoffs.

                    Sharks Conclude Disappointing Pre-Season

The Sharks ended their pre-season 1-3, and while they hope to do better in the regular season, the biggest news was that checking center Scott Nichol has suffered a concussion after recieving an elbow to the head from Ryan Getzlaf in the Sharks 4-3 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. Nichol needed help to get off the ice, and Getzlaf was assessed a minor penalty on the play. Torrey Mitchell will center the fourth line with Jed Ortmeyer and Georges Laraque on his wings.

Yeah, after every space there's 2 of these faces

Like say your talking about this.

Pavelski got two goals and an assist to help lead the Sharks beat the Ducks

Thornton and Heatley also recorded points.

That's what's happening, and while you're writing has been pretty good that just kills it and isn't easy on the eyes when there's a lot of them on there.
