Re: Madden NFL 12 Franchise Mode Details, More Coming Monday (IGN)

I think I also remember somewhere that player progression would kick in every four weeks of the season.

So, if a player gets on a hot streak, even for three weeks, and then resets, his stats will still have gotten a boost for that four week time frame. So, there might be some player attribute boosts. So, I'm just guessing, maybe an elusive back on a hot streak might get a little boost to acceleration and juking, for example.

The player progression incremental changes would have to be smallish, I think, so you don't get too wild swings, but probably also be influenced by player's age or year as a professional.

So, if a second year player with a 77 OVR gets on a hot streak, that could move him to maybe low 80's by mid season, and maybe earn a starting job, depending on who's ahead of him?

The question for me then is how this would influence player potential rating, or if maybe potential rating is just scrapped altogether.

If I had to guess, they won't scrap it outright, but they might make it more changeable based on performance based on this dynamic player performance feature.

Just a guess, but I'm wondering how this new information will interact with progression and potential.

I second that question. It's important for franchise mode to work properly that 4-3 defenses aren't drafting/signing obvious 3-4 players and vice versa. Additionally will CPU controlled teams force players into new positions depending on the system e.g. turn a 4-3 DE into a 3-4 OLB like the Texans are doing with Mario Williams this year.

A quick follow-up to the topic of overall ratings; will, say, Vick be a 91 overall on all teams regardless of their system (run heavy, west coast etc.) and will a 84 overall 3-4 DE also be 84 overall in a 4-3 system like in previous Maddens?

You do understand player roles and attribute changes differ from week to week and season to season, right?

So if a player has "playoff performer" as a role does that means he gets a ratings boost in playoff games?

If a play has "fumble prone" as a role does that just mean he has a low carry rating, or does it mean his fumble prone role lowers his carry rating even more?

I'm a fan of them adding roles and it's good to see them actually do something right. What I don't want to see is players getting ratings boosts (or having their ratings lowered) just because they have a certain role. I like the roles like Mentor/Franchise QB more because they seem to be more about off the field.

To go further into what I was saying:

I understand Brady has had some clutch playoff moments...but his stats are actually worse than the regular season.

                  Reg Season:
                  Qb rating: 95. Completion: 64% Yards/game: 240.
                  TD%: 5.5% INT%: 2.2%

                  Playoffs:
                  QB Rating: 86. Completion: 62% Yards/game: 232
                  TD%: 4.4% INT%: 2.3%

He gets worse in every category. Hopefully his playoff performer role doesn't mean it gives him attribute boosts in a playoff game. Hopefully it just affects his confidence and consistency, making him less likely to have severe rating fluctuations since he doesn't get "rattled" by big pressure situations. Otherwise it's basically just recreating the "robo qb" thing where all of a sudden a QB becomes unstoppable for no reason.

Those Playoff stats are still pretty good.

I'm no expert of course, but someone told me playoff teams play better defense.

There's a slight chance competition might be stiffer in the playoffs.

Not impressed, but very glad that they are bringing back the aspects of franchise that made it appealing and enticing.

I'm not putting down his playoff stats, I'm just showing that he doesn't become more accurate. My question is about how the playoff performer role is represented in the game. I'm hoping "playoff performer" doesn't mean something like +5 to accuracy +10 to awareness.

I haven't bought the last 3 Madden's, but this info has me leaning toward purchasing it this year. We'll see if the rest of the info can make it a must buy.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Not to be an alarmist, but a few things:

                              1) Why would someone sign a FB to a 3 year contract at 39 years old?
                              2) Why is Cle. bidding on Rogers when they just cut him?
                              3) Why is Cle. bidding on a starting caliber LT that is 10 years older than Joe Thomas? To play RT, maybe but I doubt the AI is keen enough to do that.

Not a big deal, just a few things I noticed.

I like the 75 player limit though.
