I think that makes it even worse. It sounds like a tweaked version of "weapons". Just a way to boost overalls.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 12 Franchise Mode Details, More Coming Monday (IGN)
To be honest the "player roles" thing scares me. They say there are 20+....OK..well there are 52 people on a football team so that means basically each role will be doubled on a team? Obviously you control what role you sign but from the roles they have shown there isnt much room for just regular guys. It's either stud, projected stuf, old guy, or flop.
Also, I would prefer more of a team chemistry aspect. What do these player roles even mean? If my guy has a role of "Franchise QB"...So what? does that mean he will automatically be good? I guess I just don't really seee the direction that these roles are supposed to take the game. Sounds like a gimmick to me.
And Franchise QB doesn't mean the player will automatically be good. It just means that that team is putting all their faith into that QB and it will be hard to take him off that team. Basically it's the same way David Carr was Houston's franchise QB or Alex Smith was San Fran's franchise QB.
Also, read the article again. It's not a "gimmick". Not every new feature EA implements is always a "gimmick". Player Roles has a big effect on how the CPU AI operates their teams and also helps give more character/liveliness to franchise. I don't even see how it can be argued that this is a bad addition.Last edited by BlueNGold; 05-15-2011, 11:19 PM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. Re: Madden NFL 12 Franchise Mode Details, More Coming Monday (IGN)
Online franchise can't quite work the same way as online dynasty does. The two particular events preventing this involve more live elements, that being the NFL Draft and, specifically for Madden 12, free agent bidding.
To elaborate: every action in NCAA's online dynasty can be broken up into discrete steps that doesn't require each player to be online simultaneously to perform; for example, recruiting is broken up into five stages in the offseason, each team puts in its plan independently, and then the game runs the results. This can't be done for the NFL Draft; all the players must be allowed to be present simultaneously to do it due to the dynamic nature of the event. Same with the new free agent bidding system. To Madden's credit, one of the things the existing online franchise does in fact have is a draft mechanism where all players can join and leave as they please while the draft operates.
In short, it's a separate but related set of technical challenges that's different enough for it to be its own game mode. Not to say I wouldn't like to see it done, however, I absolutely do.
A process of user customized auto drafts, if they are not there for the live draft and setting the free agents bidding period to last for a set amount of hours or days. I personally believe this is one of the reasons they have adopted an Ebay style bidding system, to account for online Commissioners to having a way to manage multi-user free agency.
I fully expect them to announce at some point that the full Madden franchise can be used online this year.Comment

On the larger issue of player roles, not every player will be tagged with a role, per se, at least if we are to use past Madden games as an indicator. At most ten guys per-team would get roles. Roles might be a bit of a misnomer, it's more like player bonus traits on top of the existing ratings system. It provides a bit of an RPG element to roster management. It is not, however, what NBA 2K defines as player roles, where you tell players on your team their actual role as "starter", "sixth man", "rotation bench player", "developmental player", etc.Comment

Pretty sure it doesn't boost overalls (and neither did weapons). Like I said above, it affects the CPU AI team logic and it gives players meaning.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Not every player on every team gets a role:
And Franchise QB doesn't mean the player will automatically be good. It just means that that team is putting all their faith into that QB and it will be hard to take him off that team. Basically it's the same way David Carr was Houston's franchise QB or Alex Smith was San Fran's franchise QB.

I don't know if you are stating this because are actually concerned or if you are just trying to find something to hate on. However, FYI, according to the info that is out there for anyone interested to read, Player Roles don't appear to be for ALL players but Dynamic Player Performance(DPP) is for ALL players. The part of DPP that has been revealed at this point, is consistency and confidence for ALL players. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/116/1168180p1.html

Re: Madden NFL 12 Franchise Mode Details, More Coming Monday (IGN)
usually a few would like maybe anywhere from 10 to 15 players
and yes they Boost ratings at certain times of a game , whether it be good or bad etc.
Hines Ward for Example was a Go To Guy in Madden 07 , which is basically a possession or outlet guy , he Expected to average 3 catches and 2 1st downs a game
if he fails that requirement , at the end of the season he Lost it etc.
Mike Vick has the "Project Player" he has LOTS of RAW potential but it still isnt Completely tapped into yet
Fan Favrite was popular it was on Manning , Favre , Faulk people who have been with teams for over 5 years
and Pass Rusher Roles would lower the rating of the Linemen they went against and increase the ratings of their DB's when Blitzing the QB
not all players had them and players can have 2 at a time still , i hope LOLLast edited by TLF; 05-15-2011, 11:43 PM.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 12 Franchise Mode Details, More Coming Monday (IGN)
I hope they cover this on monday's blog. In Madden 11 when you did a fantasy draft teams with 3-4 schemes would draft 4-3 scheme players. Also the other way around. Also they need to allow player position switching depending on scheme. Like cpu or user should be able to make a DE stand up in a 3-4 from the draft. Like the draft prospect could have 3-4 olb or 4-3 de positioning grade, 3-4 de or 3 technique grade, etc. This is greatly needed maybe player roles would affect this need feedback.Comment

And you're whole lame attempt at "fixing my post" was troll-worthy IMO considering I answered your question but instead you resorted to that.
