Re: Franchise Blog by Josh Looman

Wow, very very impressive list. I loved Head Coach, but after a while I couldn't get over not playing the games myself. I guess I am not a coach mode kind of guy, so it disconnected my immersion into the game.

There will be some gameplay issues that may never be fixed in this series, and since no game is perfect and w/o bugs, I am sure all of these features will not be perfect either from the jump (NBA 2K & The Show needed patches for franchise items). That being said, I can overlook these things knowing that franchise mode is feature rich and engaging. It's been a long time coming, can't wait to jump into it.

Awesome work Josh, AJ and whomever else is on the franchise team! Very glad to hear it will be built upon year after year. The absence of this philosophy has been one of EA Sports and Madden's biggest issues.

I don't have much time this morning or early afternoon to deeply analyze this blog, but I just skimmed it quick and I must say that this is an automatic day 1 buy for me. I'm even more excited now than I was when the general franchise mode upgrades were released a few days ago. I am absolutely blown away by what they've done this year. Kudos to Josh Looman and the rest of the Madden team.

New Player Portraits for Draft Rookies

Rookies now look just like the real NFL players with a new portrait system that removes the cartoony look in Franchise screens.

We tried to add as many portraits as we could so that the way the rookies look in the menus no longer ruins that immersion factor for you.
They should just go out to the community for this. Have people take a picture (head shot like used for Tiger woods) and if you want your face in the game send it to an email address. You won't get paid, may get a mention in the credit and they can use your face for any EA sports game they see fit.

i agree 100%. I love the randomized names for the rookies. I only hope they have it tuned properly. I don't want to see Jamaal Shebazz as a white kid from Iowa. Hopefully the names are realistic with the player. Otherwise I am stoked.

If this game turns out to be a flop for whatever reason, then Madden and EA will never get it right. I have a hard time believing that it could get any better than this.

2 - How much of this, if any, applies to online franchise? If that can't be revealed right now, when can we expect that information?
                        1) I still believe we will be able to expand the free agency clock to allow for multi-user franchises, offline and online.

                        2) Probably can expect this info July 25 when the Online Communities feature is scheduled to be released. http://www.ea.com/madden-nfl/1/feature-playbook

This year, players are automatically placed on IR and that opens up a roster spot for the team to sign a replacement for him.
                            Love this

I glad to hear about Trading Draft picks
What about the limit on draft picks?
I hated that the limit was 10. It should be unlimited or at least 15. I am the type to trade down quickly if I feel my player is not there.

Last year, if you imported someone who in your mind was a sure top 5 pick, he could enter your franchise as an 85 or a 65 overall player. There was just too much randomness in the system.
Now he enters the game every time you import him between an 80-87 overall if he***8217;s one of the best players in the import class.

                                Awesome..
