Agreed, especially if him and his back up are similarly rated.

I think this gets to an issue/question about these streaks.

      How rigid are they?

Ok, they reset after 3 games. But do they all last for 3 games? In other words, does one good (or bad) game set a hard template for two more games, or do they instead last for up to, but not more than 3 games.

If they vary in duration, then keeping in your starter with the hope that he may turn things around before the end of the game not only makes sense, it also offers some possible chance he won't suck again next week.

Otherwise, why not just identify your cold players and bench them until the streak is over, once three games are up?

Practice Squads didn't make it in? Not complaining, just asking to clarify!!!

Undrafted Free Agent Period after the Draft?
        1. Yeah somewhere it mentioned, a viable strategy is sitting a guy and having him "watch and learn" because usually rookies haven't matured and adapted to the NFL game yet, so sitting may be the thing to get a QB out of his "aggressive when it comes to throwing into coverage" trait, or how he reacts when under pressure.
        2. Id have to think the progression is the same.
        3.No practice squads.
4.I doubt that would be in, since its a period before it. But im pretty sure teams will fill out their rosters to the 75 max before their first preseason game.

Everyone quote the last part of what this guy said. Because this defeats all strategy that would be needed for these hot/cold streaks.

this is just about everything i wanted fixed over the last few feature announcements.

The few other things are gameplay related and sadly, there has been no mention so i believe they havent been adressed(LB INTs with 60in verticles, pass flight trajectory).

This is looking like the best installment in a while.

Also, do you think there will be a mass rating editor? For example, can you can raise all player's speed by 5 points or 10%, something like that?
I'd have to think it's not that cut and dry. I mean, Peyton Manning had that horrible stretch of games, but you knew he'd bounce back. If that happened in Madden, I wouldn't think his rating wouldve dropped TOO much, and plus, it was only a string of 3 games. That's probably a starting point for how they came up with their benchmark of a 3 week limit. Also, a QB with the role of Franchise QB would have a longer leash, i'd think, than a stop-gap. For example, I can't see the Panthers pulling Cam Newton because they'll want him to learn through his mistakes, but I could see the Raiders pulling Jason Campbell. He's a stop-gap, and they've done it before. The question is, if it is INDEED in, will it be realistic? I don't wanna see Brady get pulled for Brian Hoyer because he's had a string of 2-3 INT games. It could be the result of having the Ravens, Steelers, and Bears scheduled back-to-back-to-back.

Exactly. This situation should fit perfectly with teams with stop-gap QBs or lower rated ones, ala the Cardinals, Seahawks, Raiders.

Also, it'll be interesting to see how Tim Tebow develops in Franchise mode He has to have his own throwing motion, and it would be cool to see if he could progress out of his tendencies and traits, or if he's considered the QB of the future, or the franchise QB.

Possibly, but that really isn't as potentially dealbreaking as it sounds. I'd take Tom Brady on a cold streak OVER Alex Smith on a hot streak anyday, because Brady will more than likely bounce back.

Also, if you're willing to try to get around a feature like that, by sitting everyone on cold streaks, instead of assessing the situation, that's pretty indicative of you're stick skills and general football IQ, I have to think

They haven't even talked about gameplay yet, just Franchise and SS. But, looking at NCAA Football gameplay, there were no LBs with Superman abilities from what I saw, and it was the early builds, so Im thinking the occurrences have been reduced.

Um, no. You don't understand my question.

I don't control all 11 players on the field, and I'm taking a wild guess no one else does either.

So, let's say I'm not controlling my #1 CB, who is an 88 OVR (I like to control on the line). He has a lousy game. I have a deep CB corps and now, going in to next week, my dude has the frost icon - he's cold. His OVR is now more like a 78.

Now, purely from a depth chart perspective, his OVR makes him my #3 corner.

If his cold streak is rigid, then I should play him at the nickel until his three weeks are up.

But if the streak duration is itself dynamic, maybe based on some player attribute (maybe some players are more streaky than others), I may play him as a #1 next week anyway hoping he snaps out of it fast.

Or, if I'm decent playing user controlled corner, I can take him over and try to force him out of it myself, even though his OVR at the start of the game is low.

But, if the streak duration is fixed, and no user control will make a difference, I should just stick to my preferred control of a DT and drop him on my depth chart.

Now, I actually think streak durations will probably be variable, but no more than 3 games. But I have not seen that made explicit anywhere.

                        So that's why I'm asking.

Will these additions be in ONLINE FRANCHISE???

I hope ONLINE FRANCHISE doesn't get left in the dark this year like the past 2 years... I have ZERO desire to try and play the CPU 16 times a year, and try to find a "realistic" slider set and all that crap... I would much rather play in a respectable online league...

Can't wait til E3 so we can hear about the Dynamic Player Ratings...let's say a QB tanks one game, causing his ratings to dip. He comes back next week with his ratings a pinch lower. If I take that QB and play methodically, putting together a 120+ QB percentage the following week, does that stabilize the cold streak? Or is the cold streak in effect for 3 weeks regardless? Interesting...
