Create a play - practice mode was my #1 addiction during those years.
I wish they would bring back this feature in future and further enhance it (trick plays, special teams, more routes, DL stunts, etc etc) and tie it all in across all modes. Think about online h2h, how cool that would be. Or in franchise mode where different coaches you hire give you perhaps different sets of creation tools specific to those coaches and you can unlock more as your coach is also dynamically performing (ratings etc).

So with practice mode being available in the franchise hub, we can almost certainly just make individual formation substitutions there, that will carry over into games. In Madden 11, if we made formation subs during any franchise game, they were permanent and were the same for following games.

Even if they didn't add back the pregame formation subs from past Maddens, using practice mode for this should be work well. I would think we can even take Gameplans into practice mode and make individual formation substitutions in them too.

Man, I just got myself hype again thinking about this! LOL

      Can't wait.
I didn't even consider that -- you could very well be right. I barely make any subs in-game b/c of the way it is now, not to mention I use Ask Madden.

Also, you're pretty pessimistic about it all! Relax, with adembroski testing the franchise mode extensively and Josh's knowledge about creating a great franchise mode with the work on HC 09 you can be sure this is in good hands.
The thing is, as I just posted, around 80-90% (rough guesstimate, based on actually researching) of total transactions throughout the reg. seasons are Cuts, signings, and practice squad additions. Only two trades happened in 2010 in the reg. season. Only one of those had an impact, the Marshawn Lynch trade, and that trade wouldv'e been a draft-day trade if the Bills would've pulled the trigger and gotten more than a 4th round pick for him. The other trade was Mike Bell for Jerome Harrison, and as far as I know, neither had even a small impact on the field in any way. Both will probably end up being cut this year. So I think it's a good thing they don't add that option anyway, especially if it won't work correctly.

Online h2h there'd be a big surge in madden school type sites, all promoting their custom formations and plays, could be monthly EA blogs, competitions for best play designs etc. Could get some former HC involved. h2h would open up a world of more fun, bragging rights about how good they are at play design, and lead to more general innovative madden thinking by the consumers.

Other features of players were always editable. I remember changing the equipment for every player in franchise just so they could have what they wear on sundays. So i'd think it's still in, just with ratings added. I hope the ability to edit ratings and traits in online franchise is locked though, or only limited to the commish. Gonna have to see how that goes, if it's available.

I don't think the Height and weight were editable, but I'm not sure. At a point in time, Im certain at least the weight was, but as for last year, I don't know, I stopped playing around the end of August.

With the dynamic player performance and the dynamic gameplans, any chance we'll see quarterbacks, or other positions for that matter, get benched for poor performance?

I think I already know the answer, but this is something I've been hoping for for years.

The Madden 12 team has posted a video letter to us franchise fans:

Nothing really new there, just another targeted outreach to the franchise fan base.

That is a good question, but I think it would happen over time unless the guy doesn't have a "QB of the future" or "Franchise QB" role.

Say Alex Smith struggles right out of the gate this year in Madden, regardless of the cold streaks. If he goes on two 3-week cold streaks, or is just wildly inconsistent, will the 49ers be able to recognize that, bench him, go with the "QB of the future" in Colin Kaepernick, and cut their losses in the offseason and move on (as mentioned by the improved "Cut Dead Weight logic" and revamped team re-sign) and if so, AT WHAT POINT?

Or, if a guy like Jay Cutler continues to struggle and loses his "Franchise QB" role in Chicago after a year or two. Will the Bears possibly bench Cutler after a while and see what they have in Caleb Hanie, try to ship Cutler out-of-town, and possibly draft a QB if they realize Hanie isn't the answer? Will they sign a "mentor-type" stop-gap QB to compete and eventually mentor if they feel they have a diamond-in-the-rough with Hanie?

Also, if Cutler IS traded to say, the Raiders, can his play allow him to regain the Franchise QB role?

I like the all new hubs a lot because I think it gives the game a more simulation look. However, I'll believe all of this news when I have the game in my hands. Idk how many times (excluding last year) that they've been saying that the teams are going to draft players and sign players that they need and it's never happened. Also, I'm hoping that the Madden team has been and will be perfecting Franchise mode and tuning it so there are not bugs that completely ruin the game.....
Let me just state upfront, that I am NOT directing this post solely at Champ but just using his post to address a repeated theme that I have noticed about Madden 12.

I fully understand being pessimistic or even down right doubtful about the implementation of Madden 12's gameplay controls, animations, ratings and presentation areas, considering next-gen Madden's 6 year track record.

However, I do not understand feeling the same way about Madden 12's franchise upgrades. ALL those people out there that keep claiming they are basing their extreme pessimism on track records, should be extremely optimistic about Madden 12 franchise. Considering Josh Looman's track record of creating next-gen HC 09 along with the hardcore football gamer track record of OS's own Adembroski, personally playing/simming through multiple franchise years of Madden 12, in house.

I think a lot of people are overlooking the HUGE difference it will make having Adem on the Madden team. I can't speak for the future but THIS YEAR, he has personally dropped tons of info on here, that has me convinced "It's morning in Madden".
