I wouldn't say it's THAT complex. I mean, if Chris Johnson is getting shut down by the Steelers D at the half, and his rating drops, I don't think the Titans consider putting in Javon Ringer. I think they start passing more. Conversely, you could use you're point if, say, LT was struggling. Would the Jets end up going with Shonn Greene? DPP is also interesting because if teams use a RB by committee (There was a point where every team had a true "feature back" but that isn't really the case anymore), we could possibly see teams like the Giants, Jets, Patriots, and Chiefs go with the hot hand, like they do in real life, and let a guy take over the lead back role, or at least get the lion's share of the carries if one guy prospers while the other takes a backseat, and continues to struggle.Senator, I am somewhat surprised that people are not being more imaginative about how DPP being added will potentially, naturally create realistic situations like you mention in this post. I guess 6 years of lack luster franchise modes has stifled people's creativity, somewhat.
Streaks temporarily affecting ratings and consistency constantly fluctuating ratings, naturally creates realistic opportunities for players to be benched or start, based on their performance. In Madden 11 franchise, the CPU teams started the players with the highest OVR. So in Madden 12 when players on a CPU team hit streaks and/or experience substantial consistency fluctuations that affect their OVR, that will create the conditions for weekly depth chart rotation of CPU teams. It could potentially even cause players to be benched during the games if player streaks can actually begin and change, in games, instead of just week to week. In that case, player streaks could affect OVR during games and cause in game depth chart rotation IF the CPU team auto updated their depth chart each quarter or at the half, instead of each week like Madden 11.
In the real NFL potential can keep players on a team but performance is what keeps them on the field. Player Roles and DPP should reproduce that with Player Traits reproducing individual player habits, whenever they are on the field.
Can't wait.
Man, putting together possible real-life NFL scenarios when thinking about DPP and applying them to Madden is mind-boggling. DPP could be Madden's first, TRUE innovative feature. If it works like it should, and COULD, expect other EA titles and even "that other guy" to piggyback and copy it.
Looks like with DPP, Dynamic Gameplans, Player Traits and Updated Player Roles, every player and every team will have an identity and personality, and they'll really shape the whole of a team.Comment

they give the Future star to a few players usually players in their 1st and 2nd yearImage of all the Roles from Madden 07. I counted 29, just from Madden 07. So couple that with the new ones, and probably the removal of Team Distraction (depending on if Morale is in the game), it is over 30+ roles.

link to the forum I got it from: http://www.maddentips.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58672
Personally, I like the idea of Ist Rd Pick, Injury Prone(Not so much the 1-yr deal part), Future Star(Applies to Cam Newton perfectly), QB of the Future (and the quote, "...and is a prototypical QB), Underacheiver, Shutdown Corner (Since it doesnt focus on INTs, but Catches allowed), Deep Threat, Defensive Enforcer (Ray Lewis
), Team Distraction( If morale is in), Return Specialist (Would make Devin Hester and Josh Cribbs FEEL like Devin Hester and Josh Cribbs), and Clutch Kicker.
Future Star fits lots of people imo
plus players can ONLY have two at a time
and too be HONEST Cam Newton should get 'Project Player" and "QB of the Future" lots of RAW Talent and the teams Future at QB
Vince Young had 1st round pick and "QB of the Future" and he isnt PROTOTYPICAL so im guessing Cam will too
so the Devs. will have to decide which ones they get etc.
Reggie Bush , Lendale White , Michael Huff , Steven Jackson , Ronnie Brown and i think 2 more people one was a LB for the Bengals from Georgia a White dude at LB but he ended his career after a injury so pretty much all the "Fututer stars" bustedddd
only Jackson has panned out since
and Morale is part of it , thats what the Dynamic Player Performance is their Confidence etc. if they are doing Crappy or the team is im sure some players will get this role and want trades and they also make the rest of your team play worse tooLast edited by TLF; 05-17-2011, 01:20 PM.Comment

"OS: So I know you guys are keeping “dynamic player progression” somewhat under wraps until around E3, but can you talk about how it affects Franchise mode at least?
Looman: Yeah, dynamic player performance as a whole is a gigantic new feature for the whole game, but I can talk about the aspect that is exclusive only to Franchise mode. There are going to be two new traits that sort of define how this all works. And I know when people first read about it they’re going to think this is not that big of a deal, but it really does change Franchise mode more than any other feature we have ever added to it, so it’s really a huge deal. There’s two traits, confidence and consistency, that play a huge part in Franchise mode now.
Players are going to be rated anywhere between one of four levels of consistency. So Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are going to be at the highlest level of consistency. Guys like Cutler or Tarvaris Jackson -- guys you never know what’s going to happen with when you turn on a game basically -- will not be as consistent. So week to week, depending on their performance last week, their confidence is going to be updated. Let’s say Cutler throws for 400 yards, three touchdowns and has the highest confidence, when you get to the next game he is going to have a huge ratings swing.
Now, let’s say in our default rosters he is an 85 overall. If his confidence is really high, his ratings could go up to a 90 or a 92. If he has a bad game the week before, his rating could drop down to a 75 or a 73. The key thing to remember about this is that, regardless of whether they are hot or cold, every player’s ratings no matter the confidence level will change every single week. You could have a week where your starting corner is three points less in overall than he was the week before, while the corner opposite is two points higher. You know, the cool thing is that when we talked with the marketing team about this on how to present this, I think the tagline I said was “any given Sunday” because every game you play you are going to have a guy who is having a bad day. He might be struggling a little bit while another guy is playing better than expected, so every franchise game feels different than the game before.
So it really sort of lends itself to the strategy of drafting guys and signing free agents because it’s really up to you if you want to decide to draft an 80 overall guy that is really consistent, which means basically every single game you’ll get the same guy -- he could be a 79 or an 81, but he’ll typically be around 80. Or do you want to go out on a limb and sign or draft a guy who is really inconsistent, but has the ability to have a wide range of ratings and swings. So he could start as a 70, but you may get the 80 guy or you may get the 60 guy. Either way, we try to really be careful that the ratings swings don’t break the game. We kept our eye on the most inconsistent guys on a cold streak because we wanted to make sure you could still play the game with them, and really make sure it’s not so drastic you can’t complete a pass. But we also wanted to make sure it is noticeable so that if you’re playing with a Cutler, you don’t know what’s going to happen every week. You go into that week, you could get the good Cutler or the bad Cutler."
In Madden 11 the CPU teams auto updated their depth charts weekly and sorted the depth chart by player's position OVR rating. So, if Madden 12 CPU teams do the same thing, DPP will allow for weekly depth chart rotation for CPU teams in franchise.Comment

I agree with your thinking. As long as the auto-updates are in there weekly, this will be a huge win for realism and depth of play.Arsenal FC

I personally think too many expectations were placed on Bush. His "failure" set the value for RBs in the league, especially specialist-types. Huff is by no means a star, but he's a good safety. He lost his job, won it back, and it seems he's gonna move on with a better team. Brown has had a good career too, just injury-laden.
And if the Confidence is tied into them, then the question is will it be static? Can we expect to sign guys with a 3-star confidence rating? Will an underachiever come with a 1-star confidence rating if im planning to try to unlock his potential?Comment

A lot of this is Madden finally catching up to 2K franchise modes, a lot of this is Madden going above and beyond and adding things I wanted in a franchise mode, and then some. Either way, I'm looking forward to it.
As long as the CPU AI isn't jacked up like it has been the past couple years it should be great. Because I haven't played a Madden game yet where player ratings matter, the game is always pre-determined one way or another by a difficulty slider, not by the players on either team.Comment

However, I don't want to see a different RB for the Cowboys starting every week because they had a good game. If Felix Jones has one good game over Marion Barber, and he's already the starter, then next week Tashard Choice outplays Felix Jones, Choice shouldn't immediately become the starter. It should take a string of good games by one (or two guys, if its a committee) guy, along with the top guy struggling, to bring a change in the depth chart.Comment

and his system in College was a Run Heavy , Read Option Offense
that means he can PA or hand it off to the RB , then if he didnt hand it off he has 2 choices scramble the opposite way for a Run or throw it
he DIDNT have Progressions like other QB's where they have to go through their reads
im not Hating im just saying his Offense in College isnt a NFL one and he has a good deep ball , but accuracy and being a QB (reading a defense , audibles etc.)
is what mattersComment

Play Madden 10 on All Madden. Adrian Peterson is an absolute GOD in the open field, against any team, any player. You could exploit that "close" formation they used all day to tear up a defense. And that was exclusively based on his high all-around ratings.A lot of this is Madden finally catching up to 2K franchise modes, a lot of this is Madden going above and beyond and adding things I wanted in a franchise mode, and then some. “Very disingenuous — has a fake smile, comes off as very scripted and has a selfish, me-first makeup, Nawrocki wrote. "Always knows where the cameras are and plays to them. Has an enormous ego with a sense of entitlement that continually invites trouble and makes him believe he is above the law — does not command respect from teammates and will always struggle to win a locker room . . . Lacks accountability, focus and trustworthiness — is not punctual, seeks shortcuts and sets a bad example. Immature and has had issues with authority. Not dependable.”
these are the things that i meanComment

Yeah, true. I personally think it was strictly a work-ethic thing with Russell - When you're repeatedly told you have the best arm anyone has seen in years, possibly EVER, it gets in some guys heads and they create a feeling of entitlement. Thats probably why he held out so long and got so lazy - he tried to get by on talent, and he probably had been doing it his whole life/career.he said that about Jamarcus Russell too
and his system in College was a Run Heavy , Read Option Offense

But, for every JaMarcus Russell, there's a Tom Brady or Tony Romo, who all the scouts will miss on. No one gave Brady a chance, yet he came into the Pats organization and told Robert Kraft, man to man, face to face, that he would make him look like a genius. And this was a 6th round FLIER we're talking about.
I can't imagine, in his rookie year, that Brady wouldve have anything more than a C or B potential. He still doesnt have the STRONGEST arm, but he's probably one of the most accurate QBs ever, and he's always been accurate. He was put in the right system.
And something funny I read in a forum: It was either Tom Brady or Tim Rattay for that pick. Lol to think of what could've never been.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 12 Blog - Franchise Mode in Madden 12
I disagree and that's exactly what I would want to see IF the Cowboys RB committee became that flux. For Felix Jones's OVR to become high enough to take the starting job from Marion Barber, that means the game considers Jones to be the better back, at that time. However, I don't want to see a different RB for the Cowboys starting every week because they had a good game. If Felix Jones has one good game over Marion Barber, and he's already the starter, then next week Tashard Choice outplays Felix Jones, Choice shouldn't immediately become the starter. It should take a string of good games by one (or two guys, if its a committee) guy, along with the top guy struggling, to bring a change in the depth chart.
Any real coach in the NFL ultimately decides their depth chart by which players give them the BEST chance of winning. So if it only took one week for Jones to become the Cowboys BEST OVR RB, it should only take one week to make the depth chart change.Comment

I'm a franchise nut, but I'm surprised at how much they're really pushing franchise this year. Maybe I'm a little jaded, but to put a letter like that up? I think I'll actually take a chance on Madden this year with those improvements.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wejQIqaZepM
