Ok, I am going to try to articulate what I am saying in a way that HOPEFULLY doesn't make me sound like a football ignorant. LOL

I am a Redskin fan and just off the top of my head, they rotated Safeties Reed Doughty, Kareem Moore and Chris Horton almost weekly, when that positions was in flux. Also, the same thing with LB when Antonio Peirce was lost to the Giants, DT before they acquired Haynesworth, CB interchanging Smoot and Rogers when Shawn Springs was the #1 corner and with the #2 WR position for the 2009 season and a portion of 2010 before finally settling on Armstrong.

My point being, positions in flux without a solid OVR dominant player, can rotate weekly during a season. This is rare with NFL QB's but in the other positions, is quite common because the NFL is a performance based league.

Also, I don't think streak would cause this to be overdone because if a player won or lost their a starting positions because of a streak, that could last up to 3 weeks before a position change would take place again. Plus like I said in another post, bench players would have less opportunity to get on streaks so a starters performance and consistency would have the most control over them keeping their starting position.
What you're saying is correct, but note that you're saying the positions were ALREADY in flux. Therefore, they played the guys until one broke away from the pack. That's what you mean, right?

All I'm saying is, implementing that in the game would be to risky. It's one of those things where EA would have to ask, "Do the risks (of implementing this in the game) outweigh the reward enough? On the plus, the in-season transactions and production would mimic the real NFL at a more realistic rate. BUT, there's a better chance the game recognizes that all teams with players who have overalls relatively close are in a position battle, and would end up "activating one." Thus, creating the possible shuffling of the starting player with EVERY team, at every position on the depth chart.

Also, why would a bench player have less of a chance to get on a streak? If he just randomly got 8-10 carries, sure he wouldn't. But if the game used you're logic, and he was in because Player A had a bad game and got shuffled out of the lineup, then he COULD get on a streak. However, if the guy benched comes off his streak because he was benched, then his overall would reset, probably ending up higher than the backups streak-inflated rating, totally negating the fact that he had a hot streak.

See, wouldn't that just create more problems than do good? I don't think it's necessary to potentially sacrifice game playability for an extra bit of franchise realism that PROBABLY half of the gamers wouldn't notice.

HOWEVER, I would like to see that on an updated engine. Over the span 3-4 years, with this current base, Madden could truly innovate and slowly introduce small, immersive, REALISTIC features to the game. It's all about finding a SOLID foundation to build on, and I think Madden has found that. Now they can develop the framework, and eventually add small touches to it. And lets not forget, we'll soon have to upgrade our systems, and by then a much better game engine will be available.

I'm pretty most of this stuff was in last gen madden 2005. Shoot, I could even build a stadium and set my concession prices. I don't understand why it took so long to import last generation content into next gen.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered already in this thread I went through page 20 but has practice squads been confirmed? Also I thought I read somewhere that Looman said 55 man rosters, I know that's been the roster limit previously but I figured it was because they knew IR didn't work and gave us 2 extra spots. I really hope to get 53 man rosters with an 8 man practice squad.

No practice squad. 53 man rosters. Functioning IR.

No practice squads, but there are the Expanded rosters and cut days. After cut days/entire preseason you're down to the normal 53. There is a functioning IR, where you get a roster spot if a guy goes on IR.

Got to say, I'm excited for it this year. I've been waiting for offline franchise mode to get revamped for years. I'll most certainly be picking this up on day one.

Yeah it was, but is it really necessary to state that? That was LAST-get, so everything has been updated for the current-gen. Everything will be updated AGAIN for the next gen consoles, so either way, it likely would've been taken out and re-inserted.

EA had to go from this (madden 05):

                to this (madden 06, next-gen) :

In one year, meaning all the memory probably went to that to help showcase what the new gen consoles could do, graphically. And you can tell the graphics have changed EXTENSIVELY since '06.

I wouldn't be surprised if Madden had to update the graphics AGAIN with the next-gen consoles comin in about 3-4 years. However, I doubt they will have to strip down the game to barebones again. We'd probably go back to this base we'll have in 12, at the worst. Which, depending on how it plays, could work out.

Eh, a few have said it before you, so, your not the lone DD.

I never liked create-a-stadium, set hot dog prices, build-a-fan/ring, etc......

For better or worse, FM is back and back with a vengeance.

Doesn't bother me a bit some of this stuff was in lg 2005.

Re: Madden NFL 12 Blog - Franchise Mode in Madden 12

Also, I know we bash EA for gameplay and what they get wrong, but they HAVE gotten a LOT right since 2006. Look at the 360 gameplay for Madden 06

The defining moment? Go to about 1:25 and take note of the McNabb throw AND T.O. diving catch. And yes, this was NEXT-GEN gaming.
Also, the moment at 2:27 (Also the Eagles - were they given favorable ratings that year?) made me shake my head in utter disbelief.
Note the dropback at 3:42 as well
Overall, Madden may not be where it should, but it has gotten better in some areas. If you told me that Madden 06 would progress into Madden 11 and possibly as good as 12 could be, regardless of what 11 lacked in, 6 years ago, I'd lol HARD.

Its time we give Madden credit, but DEFINITELY where it's due.

Also, for the most part, the Madden soundtracks have never disappointed either

Also, I think the player hub/player roster screen they had in Madden 07 was the best one EVER. I't really be cool to see them revisit that.

I'm not meaning to bash. Sorry if it comes off that way, but people here are ecstatic over features that should have never been dumped in the first place. I find that a bit odd.

                        BUT

At least it seems like Franchise Mode is back in action. I was a heavy FM player until it started going downhill. Now it looks like it's back to the way we love it and possibly more with the dynamic player ratings and such. Most of my playing time is spent through online matches these days, but that's because of the lack of franchise mode the past 3-5 years. It's good to have it back, but I'm not impressed because these are features that we have already seen.

                        I was expecting something major.

Considering the state Franchise was in last year, and has ALWAYS been in, to most of us who have been playing the game 10+ years , this IS considered major. Madden may finally fulfill it's potential, point-blank, just on the collective potential immersion and depth in franchise alone. That's major in itself.

Trust me, I cant even remember the last time I even touched franchise mode. I think the last FM I really got into was 2005 or 2006; whichever one had the radio show that would play and update accordingly to how the season was going. Now that was a nice touch, especially when I was making roster adjustments and scouting my upcoming opponent.

That's the franchise mode I remember that took countless hours away from my life. That's when franchise mode was fun. It seems like EA is headed back in that direction, and that they want to head back in that direction. I give them props for that.

Yeah it was 05, and it was crazy fun haha. I loved Tony Bruno and that music that would come on. I mean, they even had players call in for interviews if they won an award, or their team made the playoffs, and other stuff!

Just note that was the last-gen days. They had to scrap everything "extra" basically for the next-gen Madden 06 because of lack of memory, and what did get in was watered down. Basically, Madden has been recovering for about 3 years - up until about 09. After that, mediocrity got unacceptable. But they did make strides consistently. Don't believe me? Check every review for next-gen for Madden, from Madden 06, up until Madden 11.
