Re: Madden NFL 12 Blog - Franchise Mode in Madden 12

I wanted to add something else to the discussion between "rgiles", "Thinking Out Loud", and "JaySmooov". I have to agree with rgiles and JaySmooov on those topics about Hot/Cold Streaks and starting backups after one game. It shouldn't happen. Maybe if they show they are a consistent producer then yes.

Also if there are going to be re-ordering of depth charts in players at the QB/RB/WR and other positions on a WEEKLY basis because they may have performed better then we are going to have a huge skew of stats at the end of the season. This wouldn't work at all.

Hopefully this Dynamic Progression engine isn't so touchy and CPU teams don't start reordering their depth charts week in, week out. I can understand if a QB just isn't working out for a team and they start their backup for the remainder of the season, but the entire flip flopping of position battles each and every game would be ridiculous.

It seems like you are grazing over my post and acting as if I am making an unreasonable statement. I don't see what is "subjective" or can be "argued" about, concerning the player progression paradox, I referenced. It's very easy for ANYBODY to confirm through, an internet or OS search. I even stated a possible reason for why this was done but maybe you galloped past that.

As far as the features you listed that have been added, where have I said or even implied that historic next-gen Madden rhetoric should "negate" or "cancel all of that"? Blinders might have caused you to miss what I said about DPP having "the POTENTIAL to make Madden 12 the most immersive and organic football game experience, to date", on the same page as your reply.

What I was referring to by "upgrades" was NOT the presence of features but how close to intended and/or described they operate, according to yearly next-gen Madden EA rhetoric.

You might want to hold you horses the next time before jumping the gun.

I meant no disrespect with this reply, just having some personal goofy fun with your user name. And as a life-long Redskins fan, now that we have Shanahan, maybe Denver is willing to trade Champ Bailey and a 2nd round pick back for Clinton Portis! LOL
While I didn't merely skim (nor wish to further argue semantics), perhaps you didn't articulate as you would've wished. That said, I think your broncos motif is rather cute. Also, I'm flattered by the response!

The blogs, as said before, are hype machines. Whichever dev does it is going to hype the current POV. If the current POV by the team is that age-based progression is good, then they'll hype it as such. If it's a bad thing, they'll hype it as bad. But one can make an argument for both, it's a subjective topic. So to point it out is, to me, a moot point. It's up to you to decide whether or not that feature is grand or not. 75 man rosters are in, do you like it? Age-based progression is back, but that should detract from the excitement one might feel for the improvements to franchise.

Franchise got almost no love in Madden 10 and 11. It's not hard to see that franchise in 12 has been given some major love. With everything that has been listed, it's easy to see that the new feature list for franchise is miles longer than in the recent past for franchise. Now perhaps you feel as if those additions to franchise aren't worth caring about, so perhaps franchise isn't upgraded for you. That could be true. But with the community begging and pleading for my aforementioned improvements (IR, rosters expanded, etc), I think a safe conclusion is that franchise has been upgraded (tests are still pending, of course).

And with the Broncos just resigning Champ Bailey, you can keep your over-the-hill, washed up running back.

One of us is totally confused and it could be me but I think it's you! LOL

Have you went back and even read the Madden 10 franchise blog I was referencing? Josh Looman wrote the blogs and designed the franchise modes, for Madden 10 and Madden 12. How can Looman have a subjective argument with himself? LOL

With all due respect, it seems like you came in on the middle of a discussion, which is cool but then, you didn't even bother to read the other previous posts, for context.

So again, I have not claimed to have an issue with the features, being added or them attempting to upgrade Madden. In fact, I have STATED some have great POTENTIAL, IMO. I don't understand why you keep stating things like, "Now perhaps you feel as if those additions to franchise aren't worth caring about..", even after I clearly articulated what I meant in my last post.

EDIT*- Added this late because I had to figure out a way to state this constructively. Most people, including myself, can admit defensive assignments, the Extra Point, story engine for commentary, pregame position story lines, Gus Johnson, Online Franchise and Protak, were good feature upgrades the Madden community had long been asking for, too. However, any reasonable person can also admit that this features did NOT operate very well or that close to as intended, according to the way they were marketed by various Madden departments. Do I wish they never added them, no, I think they were all good ideas. Do I wish they had worked the way they were described, yes and the same thing with Madden 12.

I want to enjoy Madden 12, as much as anyone. So hopefully, everything works reasonable well for the 30 non-equestrian teams and the Colts.

I'm not sure if this has been raised already or not, but there may be an issue with the DPP. They said that ratings will change depending on how a players performance is compared to other players in the same age bracket, which is fine. However, I play slightly shorter games and at the end of a season my linebacker tackles are nowhere near the top of the league.

Does this mean my linebackers will start to regress when they are being compared to other, say 27 year old linebackers? And the same usually goes for my O-line and pancake blocking. It doesn't necessarily mean these guys are playing bad, it just means they don't have the time to rack up the stats

My score for Madden 13: 4.5/10

3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.

That's a great point. I'm in the same boat, where my players aren't really around the same stats as the rest of the league. I know I can boost my game time to achieve "sim" stats, but I really just do not want to. Either that, or I'll do so and simply super sim more.

There is only one thing I want to see in the Madden Franchise Mode. I have never seen it done effectively.

I want to see every graduating player that I import from my NCAA Dynasty show up in my draft class. I'm sick of playing my Dynasty, building up players, and then not having the option to draft them. I don't care if their rating would be a 40 overall, I should atleast have the option.

If any of my players show as going pro or graduating at the end of my Dynasty season, please give me the option of drafting them in Madden. I would hope this would happen now that they are discussing expanded rosters.

                          Please, PLEASE, give me this.

Oh yeah, and if I could play online Madden without it lagging so hard it's unplayable, that'd be cool too

Not every player goes to the NFL though. If your top rated RB didn't show up that would be one thing, but I'm not sure its reasonable for your 5th string TE who never took a snap to be listed along with hundreds of other scrubs.

I agree. But there has to be a halfway somewhere. Especially since the game doesn't have AA schools. I'm tired of drafting in the 7th round and only have FB, P, and K left.

In any case, there should be some code where, if the person is atleast a 70 in NCAA, they should port over to Madden

It would be awesomeness on top of the already announced awesomeness if they could somehow make the simming time synch with whatever you choose to play your games.

In other words, if you play 8min qtrs and 15sec runoff, the simming of all other games in the franchise would sim at that same rate...boom, comparable stats!

                                i can dream!!!
