Re: Ever seen a No-Hitter?
Yes. Actually, a perfect game.
I was 13 yrs old and at the old Cleveland Stadium when Len Barker pitched his perfecto against Toronto in 1981...went as a field trip with my Little League team.
Back then, the Tribe were horrid. So this was a shining moment in an otherwise dismal season.Comment

Re: Ever seen a No-Hitter?
Well, obviously we had no idea what would happen.
And because we were a little league team, our coach wanted us to see how the "big boys" played the game.
But it was an awesome experience; I can still remember being hoarse afterward from screaming as the last innings played.Comment

Re: Ever seen a No-Hitter?
Nope, nothing really even close.
That would be pretty awesome to be there for one though... everyone on pins and needles for every pitch.Last edited by rspencer86; 05-23-2011, 01:28 AM.Ryan Spencer

Re: Ever seen a No-Hitter?
This is the closest I've come to seeing one that I can remember. And really it wasn't all that close given that a hit happened in the first, but it was still fun to watch.

Re: Ever seen a No-Hitter?
Same. I remember my dad and I went to the game rather last minute, telling ourselves, "It's Randy Johnson's turn in the rotation. This should be fun to watch." I guess we forgot he had just went on the DL before that, and when we heard Sanchez's name we were thinking to ourselves, "He's going to have to prove himself this time out, or else he might find himself off the roster tomorrow."
And whenever I watch a game, I always think: "He has a perfect game until he allows a runner to reach base," so technically I'm in the perfect game mode from the very first pitch. After the first three innings, I already started to feel it. It was about the fifth inning when my dad even realized it, looking up at the scoreboard. To this day, Uribe's error in the 8th haunts me. Sanchez was dealing that day, and the only good piece of wood all game was the one that Rowand caught at the wall in the ninth inning. It was also a special moment since I believe his mother or father was in attendance (like the one game they came up to the States to see), and they came out onto the field afterward congratulating him.
It was a special moment indeed, the kind of no-hitter that even Blzer can be proud of (not walking anyone, striking out eleven hitters, and allowing the first baserunner to reach late in the game). I think he got a lot of help from the umpire in the ninth inning, but it was such an awesome game to say that I went to!
Funny you guys mention this actually. I was the field umpire in a Little League perfect game once, yet I didn't realize he threw one until about five minutes after the game. I remember telling a fan that it was an easy paycheck not having to deal with many runners on the base paths, and he said something along the lines of, "I'll say, considering that young Rockies pitcher threw a perfecto." I then realized why all the fans were singing some song to him in congratulatory fashion afterward.Last edited by Blzer; 05-24-2011, 04:42 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Ever seen a No-Hitter?
Nope, 1 hitter with 17 strikeouts though:

The hit was a homerun in the 2nd inning though, so there was no real drama about whether he'd get a no hitter, and he didn't even get a shutout, but damn he was dominant.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Ever seen a No-Hitter?
I think I saw one go into the 7th or 8th inning during a Braves @ Dodgers game a few years ago. Can't remember when and who was pitching though.Comment
