The console's have gone up in price of the last few decades, but the cost of games have stayed in the same ball park. Anyone remember how much SNES games were? i think they were in the $30-$40 range. I dont see games getting anymore expensive than they are now....just my opinion.
Now, current-gen games are 59.99, or $65 with tax.
Companies have to pay for upgraded technology and what not, so I wouldn't be surprised if games eventually made it around $70. I think it's unlikely though, I doubt people are willing to buy a $70 game, especially when we're recovering as a nation, financially.Comment

ROAD TO GLORY
This year's mode is designed by former Auburn running back Alex Howell. He says his aim is to "create as much of my high school and college experience that I could through Road to Glory."
High School- Explores your high school years more in depth, so you'll play a full senior season and gain recruiting points that are based on your stats
- After each game you'll pick three local schools of varying prestige that are interested in you
- Your recruiting board shows which schools you've picked and how far you are to earning a scholarship for each one. You can walk on to any school, but if you have a scholarship, you'll be able to transfer your recruiting points into XP for college
- You'll play and be recruited on both sides of the ball
- You can edit your HS senior season from seven to eleven games, and can import online browser-built Team Builder teams as your opponents. This lets you recreate your real-life high school team's schedule if you want
Coach's Trust- You work your way up the depth chart by earning Coach's Trust Points, and even when you have enough points to catch the player who's higher than you on the chart, you can then only take that position by winning a Position Battle – which is a glorified practice session
- Non-starters will earn Trust Points through practices and occasions when you see the field during mop-up time, etc.
- Coach Trust Points extend to your on-the-field power. QBs won't be able to call audibles or hot routes until they have earned the coach's trust
- Earn enough points and you can have the chance to call plays from "Extra Plays" – an extended selection of plays than what the coach has already called. This is available in varying frequency during a game the more Trust Points you earn
- The development team is also working on improving the AI play calling
- XP you earn during your college career is spent on item packs in the Upgrade Store. These packs are built around groups of attributes for specific types of players. For example, the scat back pack boosts your acceleration and juke ability
- There are 600 item packs total, and they'll be six different ones available each week. Rarity, cost, and duration vary, but they will all be based around your position
- Upgrade Store items cannot be bought via micro-transactions
- Calendar system scrapped, and the Road to Glory presentation is similar to the Dynasty Mode's menus
- The mode's menus, replays, montages, etc. will be centered around your player
- Practices are now 25 reps per practice
- Can save all your Road to Glory replays onto your NCAA browser page
- No more study sessions on your calendar"

It's besides the point though, false choice. Who said the only two options were increasing the game price or charging for DLC? It's not like they have direct comp we can compare to.
I think the reason most of you are probably against this is you fear the industry will go down the route of "what's next, having to pay $5 to play using weather?" or something to that effect. I see that type of comments a lot. Well I can answer it for you, that is unlikely to happen, but if it ever does people simply won't put up with it and it'll be a massive fail.
It might not ever get to that point but they're going to get as close as possible. Line should be drawn in the sand early. Why not refuse to put up with this dlc and make it a massive fail?Last edited by poopoop; 05-24-2011, 05:40 PM.Comment

Do it then, at least that'd be more honest. I'd rather them charge me 69 upfront, then charge me 59 for the "full game" and try to get me for another $10 afterwards. Also I think the idea that micro-transactions save us money is incorrect. Even if the game price was increased to $69 I doubt that'd be the end of DLC. Especially not with companies like EA.

How do you know any of this though? Only thing we've seen is seemingly every time they introduce DLC you see comments like:

Me, personally, I don't feel necessarily compelled to buy the online pack because I'm not sure if I'll necessarily HAVE to complete my part of an online dynasty online. But if I notice that I don't have time to actually sit down and play my console (especially when school starts back, I'm in college) then I may consider it. As far as the commish pack/part of it, I don't plan on being the leader or 5 leagues, I may join 2-3 and be extremely dedicated to those.
But hey, can't tell you how to feel.Comment

They are absolutely trying to get people to buy it. Why else would they even be selling it.
I'm not even suggesting that it's by force. No idea where you are coming from with that.Comment

And also, YOU may agree with them just adding it to the game and charging $70, but everyone doesn't want this. If EA did that, then they would just be TRULY overcharging for a feature no one asked for.
No offense though, I'm actually neutral about it because I don't HAVE to buy it if I don't feel it's necessary. You shouldn't feel like EA is trying to dupe you either; I'd be more concerned if a press release came out saying NCAA would be 70 dollars because they added the OPTION to sim and recruit online, and manage up to 5 leagues.Comment

Clip of the first part of starting a dynasty, including creating the coach, contract, etc. They'll be releasing the offseason part if they get up to 643K likes on Facebook, they're at 641K now, I believe.Comment

Not interested in semantics. Just saying, you made it (or at least the way you worded it) sound like EA is trying to pull a fast one on us.
Just like other people may agree with them charging for DLC but everyone doesn't want it. What's your point? I know what the definition of an opinion is.
That's fine. If you don't care about it at all, or you want to buy it I have no issue with that. My issue is the people who try to rationalize why it's there, justify it, or in some cases explain why it's a good thing. But at least this year is looking like a great year for gaming
