Last year it was explained to me simply:

To go from five-stars to six stars you have to finish in the top 5 or make it to the BCS title game. To lose a star, go from six star to five star, you have to finish out of the top 15.

That was the explanation given to how the game decides these things. Why Texas didn't drop, I don't know, that's EA's prerogative

Only argument to that would be ND does play a pretty solid schedule year in and year out...

They play maybe one or two nationally ranked teams a year than fill their schedule with mid level talent at best.

USC and Mich/MSU (either or) will typically be their ranked opponents, than after facing middle level talent they fill their last 4 games with cupcakes (sometimes backfires)

Their schedule isn't on par with a Big Ten(12)/SEC schedule. Only AQ conference they could be scheduling better than is the Big East, than again that's not difficult.

I GET IT!

EA calls it a prestige rating but it REALLY isn't about prestige, it is about wins and losses in the game!!!! If it WAS really about prestige Notre Dame would never ever lose a star in the game.

I'm still confused though becuse if it is about Wins and Losses, then why did ND go down a prestige for winning more games than the previous season. Riddle me that one EA

EA doesn't follow their own logic out of game. Texas is a nationally known program and it is expected they will bounce back, but if in game they are continually sucking and they never dropped people would complain so they had to program it into the game like that, otherwise the top teams would never fall.

Duke at best should be a C, how they are a B- I'll never know.

Their passing attack is competent, but their run game is a joke, one of the worst in the NCAA. Offensively, a C+ would be best. Defensively, a D or D+ is what should be given. They averaged over 35 PPG allowed to opposing offenses. Their rating is inflated like hell. (109 in the nation) They even gave up 48 to an inept Virginia squad.

From what I can see from these ratings, what we have gotten is a little more mediocrity when it comes to prestige:
A. 85 of 120 are rated 3* or lower
B. 31 3* programs compared to 39 in NCAA11
C. Meanwhile, the number of 2* has gone up to 30 from 26
D. And for those of you who like those 1* projects have 3 more options:
New Mexico, Memphis, & Washington State

I agree there is mediocre teams that play year in year out, but usually michigan is solid team, usc, mich state, and stanford as of late....which is more than most teams who schedule 1-2 out of conference games. I thought ND should have joined the Big Ten, but like you said they probably didnt want the solid competition...

The Dev's don't even follow their own rules here. It's painfully obvious that the prestige system needs to be scrapped, It has way too much of an impact considering there's no reasonable rhyme or reason to it.

By the way, I LIKE Notre Dame. I like Brian Kelly a LOT.

I just feel like it is a justified drop of a star. But, regardless, most gamers will have zero trouble getting the star back year one, especially with Floyd going Randy Moss on people all day

PRESTIGE: Respect and admiration felt for someone or something on the basis of their achievements or quality.(Definition from google)

Despite what anybody says, Notre Dame deserves a 6* prestige rating based on that definition of Prestige.

No other program in the country can say all these things about their program-
1: ND has the largest fan base in the nation, 2: ND continues to roll in top recruiting classes, 3: ND has the most national tittles & hisemen winners, 4: ND has thier own TV network, 5: ND have tons and tons and tons of tradition, 6: ND has never violated major ncaa rules, 7: ND has never played an FCS (aka D-1AA) team, 8: ND graduates over 95% of their players.

ND is in fact a very prestigious school.

I would argue that the very fact that so many people on here don't think they deserve to be a 6* expresses the fact that they shouldn't be. You are right about it being a matter of public perception, and the perception here appears to be that they aren't as prestigious as you tout them to be.

It's the fact that people are Jealous of what notre dame has/had, with the combination of the recent inconsistency of the program, added in with the 10% of ND fans that are delusional who brag about the past national tittles in any CFB argument and predict a 10-2 or better team year in and year out that sets ND up so well for haters. I get it, and if i wasnt a die hard ND fan i would probably be on the hate train too if i didn't completely understand the circumstances.

Just because ND has a nationwide legion of fans who probably couldn't even find South Bend on a map doesn't mean they're a 6 star prestige school. Lol at 2 bowl wins in the last 15 years.

I actually don't hate ND. I'm 21 so I really wasn't watching football in ND's hayday. They just haven't been good for a while now, it really isn't about hating them.

I believe the reason they went down this season is because last season they were holding out that ND would have the breakout year because they always seem so close to doing it. EA is kinda giving up on that break out year and is admitting that ND isn't a top dog school anymore. To be 6* you need to be in the NC talk at least every couple of years.
