I think both, but as he says in the last sentence, major step won't be till next year. I think they've had the same tech since the ps2 days so I'm really glad they have invested in changing their tech, like he said they will have the foundation for the near future.

Yeah I was actually surprised he was honest enough to tell me this straight up. I think they did what they could this year, but I think most hardcore fans knew unless they changed the tech they couldn't really improve commentary much. With a new tech, we should see huge strides in this area of presentation in the near future. madden 12 is looking great as is, so I can live with small improvements now in order to see big ones next year.

Gameflow wasn't there when Hammond was. Two different stories.


My thoughts:

Yes, the commentary needs to be fixed. Phil said it would be in the near future (M13,M14) and this is the first game of this generation where Madden appears to be at least on the same wavelength as some other sports titles. I don't see the problem considering more has been added to this game than any other 360/PS3 Madden combined. It just strikes me as greedy when not every single thing has been fixed in a limited time and people act like the game is ruined from it. It may not be what you want it to be, but when you have their word it will be taken care of you should rest easy and try to enjoy M12.

to me, very near translates to a patch for '12. very near is not 1+ years from now.

also, he put emphasis on the term very. so it must be a patch for '12 or he just lied. you simply cannot translate that to the meaning of next year or the year after. so you heard it here first, folks -- commentary will receive a patch for '12 and it will be awesome.

12 isn't the year for major commentary improvements. We do hope to get there in the VERY near future.

The key words are "hope" and "very near future"....again,no where is it specified that next year will be the year.

I'm assuming it's going to be next year, because he said they invested in getting the tech for it this year. I will be shocked if it isn't Madden 13 he's talking about.
