Be A GM Overhaul.
Still no word on whether or not Be A GM has an upgrade? This mode is in dyer need of improvements from top to bottom. It gets overlooked every single year.Tags: None -
Re: Be A GM Overhaul.
Both Rammer & IrishSniper (from hfboards who went to the community day) have teased at us saying NHL 12's Be a GM has been revamped, the issues from NHL 11 have been addressed, they have spent a lot of time in this game mode, and we will be happy with what they have improved upon. -

So can we expect Patrick O'Sullivan to win the Art Ross again in my BaGM in '12?Both Rammer & IrishSniper (from hfboards who went to the community day) have teased at us saying NHL 12's Be a GM has been revamped, the issues from NHL 11 have been addressed, they have spent a lot of time in this game mode, and we will be happy with what they have improved upon.

Re: Be A GM Overhaul.
See stuff like this I wouldn't mind, as long as people like Crosby aren't scoring 20 goals compared to Horton's 48.
It makes for good stories say, if Boston signed Brad Richards in the offseason and then the next season the line of Lucic-Richards-Horton...Richards helps Horton score 48, but as soon as Peverley is put on their line after Richards gets injured, Horton puts up around 20-22.
Little things like that, which are so damn simple and such common sense, apparently can't be put into a game? C'mon EA, I'm just asking for some common sense here. The best players in the game should be the best players in the game.Comment

Re: Be A GM Overhaul.
I spend the vast majority of my playing time in BEAGM.
So I'm very interested in finding out what's been fixed/added. For me...the GM mode is second only, to the overall gameplay. Hopefully some info will start to leak out soon. Info like, ohh...maybe a customizable season length.

Re: Be A GM Overhaul.
Here's what I'm looking to be fixed.
1) The schedules after the first season. Ridiculous. Numerous games where you played the same team two games in a row, in the same building. And there are too many home games/away games in a row. I didn't have my home-opener until October 29 in my second season. That's crazy.
2) Simulated stats still need to be tweaked.
3) Incorporate CHL into Be A GM, meaning, we should be able to see how many goals/assists/points, etc. players in the CHL scored before drafting them. We should be able to see who won the Memorial Cup, etc.
4) Retired jersey numbers (or better yet, the ability to control all teams jersey) and captains maintaining their captain c's.
5) Many other things that I can't think about right now.Comment

Re: Be A GM Overhaul.
Last year at the community event, I pitched the idea of using real schedules from previous NHL seasons. Not sure when the league went to the latest scheduling format, but I think it would give them at least four or five different schedules to cycle through. Gurn gave me one of these...Here's what I'm looking to be fixed.

Although Atlanta moving to Winnipeg would make for some funny road trips... Carolina --> Winnipeg --> Tampa
Hopefully the new simulation engine will help. I was told last year the old one was patched & tweaked to the limit and a new system was needed to truly improve simulated stats.2) Simulated stats still need to be tweaked.
This would be great. I believe the inclusion of the CHL became official too late in the dev cycle for this type of integration in NHL11. Taking it a step further, I want to be able to GM a CHL club and work my way up the ranks... more of a "global" career mode in which we can move between leagues. From what I was told last year, something along these lines is the dream for the guys who work on BAGM/BAP, but it would be a HUGE jump.3) Incorporate CHL into Be A GM, meaning, we should be able to see how many goals/assists/points, etc. players in the CHL scored before drafting them. I'll be honest, I've never brought this up with anyone on the dev team. Sorry.4) Retired jersey numbers (or better yet, the ability to control all teams jersey) and captains maintaining their captain c's.
So true. Hopefully the BAGM news comes sooner rather than later. I know I couldn't talk about everything I saw for NHL11 until a week or two before release. IrishSniper seemed to have some good stuff for us, so hopefully EA releases some official info so he can talk...5) Many other things that I can't think about right now.Comment

Re: Be A GM Overhaul.
This is a list that prove to everyone that the game isn't tested. I mean, just the schedule part is so obvious. If you test the game, you see that, but if you don't, no way that pops up. The AHL schedule is so funny. Only games are 2 or 3 in a row. Don't remember seeing this in real-life.Here's what I'm looking to be fixed.

I've comment enough on the jersey programming and how awful it is. No need to explain again that it's another part of the game if you don't test the game, you don't see it.
This list is showing one thing. NHL game is pretty solid overall, as long you play a game here and there, without going far into some modes. As soon you go deep in the BaP or BaGM mode, that's where you have an impression that EA is thinking like this : "Don't spend too many times with these mode, we will hope for buyers to go online and don't notice the holes in the offline modes...""Ice hockey is a form of disorderly conduct in which the score is kept." - Doug LarsonComment

Customizable season length is a BIG ONE for me.(Don't have time to play all 82.)I spend the vast majority of my playing time in BEAGM.

Re: Be A GM Overhaul.
While I can understand customizable season length is important to some (to each his own), the NHL series is the only game that I regularly play through at least one season and into another. I love the 82 game schedule. I am totally for more options, even if I don't use them, but I doubt EA would include this.Comment
