When legends first shown in the video, I assumed that what was shown was a fraction of the legends in the game. 13 total legends is lame, I don't care that there are 5 Deion Sanders, it's still Deion Sanders. Plus, 8 of the 13 are running backs. It would have been cool to have, at least, one per NFL team.

[quote=DUDERMAN;2042507830]This mode really bugs me. I understand they make money from it (though I can't see why people actually pay for these digital packs) but it's just another let down of what we use to have.
I actually probably wouldn't mind MUT so much if it weren't for the contract cards. I can understand why they have them for the competitive players but for players like me who only wanted to collect the cards of their favorite players, it makes the mode completely unplayable.
*be prepared for a short rant here*

FIFA 11 UT was wildly successful and 10x better than its franchise mode. It had contract cards. Manager cards. Training cards. Formation cards. It was and is really really good mode (despite having the option to buy cards with real money).
If MUT12 is anywhere as good as FIFA 11 UT was, then people would play it over franchise mode. But it isn't.Comment

One thing I'd change with MUT:
- Take it out of the game and focus on important modes like Franchise and Online Franchise.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 12: Madden Ultimate Team Features
I agree 100%, I never tried the mode, zero interest in it. I did try a few games of HUT and quickly got sick of playing random cheezers. It is truly sad if OF got nothing in favor of this mode, but i think that will be the case cause EA seems to be intent on pushing this GLOBAL idea of online gaming and micro transactions.

Not if it's a money maker they won't, and it's been reported it's a money maker.
I don't think EA would set up a date in July to talk nothing about online features.Comment

From my experience in NHL 11's HUT, the whole idea would be awesome if EA didn't nickle and dime you for every card. It seemed like no matter how well one did to win, it just wasn't enough to create a good team. I can understand the boosts and the like being pay to play, but the cards themselves should be easier to get.
Again, this is from my impression of NHL 11's mode; it may or may not correlate with what Madden has in store.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

I felt like in NHL you could compete if you played enough and worked the auction room -- and you really only needed two good lines -- and I actually ended up going with weaker teams since the 90+ rated ones were ridiculous. I felt like playing in the 70s to low 80s was more enjoyable. From my experience in NHL 11's HUT, the whole idea would be awesome if EA didn't nickle and dime you for every card. I found that the hardest part in NHL was getting started. Once I got my first "big name" guy in one of the more expensive packs and sold it, I was able to take off.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: Madden NFL 12 Video: Madden Ultimate Team Features, Screenshots Included
I knew plenty of people who did after MUT actually started to work correctly -- was a mess at launch.
I just think the general issue with MUT is that it's at a disadvantage when compared to FIFA and NHL because of the nature of a football roster. It's not as conducive to Ultimate Team as some of the other sports games.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I don't like how the guy put it, and I generally don't ever say take a feature out, but this seems like a painful and expensive trend. So I am against it. $60 is already pretty expensive.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 12 Video: Madden Ultimate Team Features, Screenshots Included
You don't HAVE to spend any extra money to use the mode. None whatsoever. If MUT isn't your thing, that's cool; but to frame it as it being required to go above and beyond the initial $60 is misleading. The option to use real-world money doesn't change the fact that you also have the option of not using that money and playing the mode.

I'm just saying I don't like the trend of charging above the cost of the game. I fear the day when signing free agents, or drafting will cost extra. You don't HAVE to spend any extra money to use the mode. None whatsoever. Re: Madden NFL 12 Video: Madden Ultimate Team Features, Screenshots Included
They need an option to search for games against people who have not spent any real money on packs or I will never play it. It is no fun bringing my team led by Troy Smith and Brandon Jackson against a team of Mike Vick, Chris Johnson and Ray Lewis. EA will never do that though because they want people to spent money to be competitive.Comment

Yeah. This year you can play friends, and you also get lots of coins just for even completing games -- hopefully to minimize the quitting.Originally posted by bxgoodsThats the thing that killed MUT 11, nobody spent money. People got a lot of coins from coin farming, which was basically completing the Rookie collections on different accounts and getting 1,000,000 coins.
You can get a lot of coins in MUT by completing collections, if your depending on money to get a lot of coins in MUT, you're doing it wrong.
That was my point about FIFA/NHL Ultimate Team though in terms of fielding lower-rated teams. If you have a lower-rated team, then you match up against other lower-rated teams. I didn't play a ton of MUT so not sure of the matchmaking there.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update).
