Just took a trip way back.

I just found NCAA 98 on PS1 and through it in the PS3 and it reminded how excited I got the first time I saw actual logos on the players uniform.

I may be giving away my age, but I can remember walking into gamestop on launch day.....no midnight release and buying NCAA with maybe two people in line. We had no online just a room full of friends playing tournaments all day and night. The funny thing is, I played that game more than the Nextgen titles today.

Wow! How times have changed. I can only imagine what the ten years will bring.

Gamestop has been around for years. It's just that is more likely known as Babbage's back then... never knew what that meant. All the ones I knew turned into Gamestops years ago, but it's possible others converted back in the 90's.

I used to get all of my gaming needs from Boomerang Gameware. I didnt think Gamestop exsisted until the PS2 in 2001.

        I looked it up - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamestop

On topic though....i still have Gambreaker 97 with Eddie George on the cover.

You might be right about babbage's, if only I could find that receipt.

Hey man as we get older we dont have as much time for video games.
I remember staying up all night over at my buddy's house when the new NCAA's came out. man those were the days. All Summer being outside all day then spending all night playing video games. Getting old sucks sometimes!

Did the same thing here with those early versions of NCAA. I was thinking about the other day where we stayed up for almost two days straight playing NCAA Football 99 and the guys that weren't playing were playing Tecmo Bowl on the NES a few feet away.

I can remember going out to my cousins and taking my NCAA 96 on Sega. So that tells you my age. LOL

The best part about NCAA 98 was that you could choose between Bowl or 16-team playoff for your postseason.

You guys are not old. Bill Walsh College Football came out in 1993 fall of my sophomore year. We used to play in the fraternity house using the 4 way play adapter (http://www.estarland.com/product14524.html). My friends and I still discuss the battles we used to have. Good times.

Best thing about NCAA 98 was the "Global Playbook" option where every play out of every formation was unlocked for you.

I'm excited that it looks like we'll have the custom playbook this year so we can do something similar.

Wait, Babbage's didn't turn into Gamestop. EB Games became Gamestop. Unless Gamestop bought Babbage's. Because a good 8-10 years ago, my mall had a Babbage's and an EB Games, about 4 stores apart.

Back then, I didn't own a pc yet, and I didn't have online access.

Amazingly, I don't remember finding half the bugs and glitches as I do today.........just played til my fingers bled.(Quoting Bryan Adams...)

Weird, isn't it? Now, I find myself looking for problems that others have found and posted about instead of just enjoying the game for what it is.

Hmmm...........thinking of maybe just staying away from the internet from now on and seeing if I can bring back the joys of gaming rather than turn into a critic...

I refuse to go into the Bugs/Glitches thread for any game I own. I also tend to generally stay away from the Impressions threads, too, although there are a handful of guys that I will make sure to read to see their thoughts on the game. But other than that, I have been trying to do more playing than reading the past year with regards to videogames and I have to say it has helped increase my enjoyment level.
