Well, to me this game is just a Trainwreck. I mean you can't throw combos on the inside cause your too close or somethin...it just doesn't look right...as if your arms fold up or somethin'...also, is anyone gettin any stuttering & choppiness(PS3)...it's almost unplayable for me.

If you circle, use lateral movement, stay in the pocket a bit more, and use more head movement, then I dont see why you should have a problem with stamina.

I just fought a guy who ran backwards the entire fight. I wasn't even chasing him so to say, I just engaged and wanted to fight. He clearly didnt. By the 6th round his stamina was DONE.
I hear you, bud. I agree it's hard to gauge someone's style unless you see it first-hand. I'd be willing to fire up the game once more to show you what I'm talking about if you like.

Here is my guy at round 5:

Here is my guy at the start of round 8:

        And here are the results:

As you can see, my approach was very conservative. what I'm doing is moving away and jabbing once. No other punch. I move around some and jab. I then try and incorporate some hooks and uppercuts where I think i have a chance. Other than that I'm very cautious. This guy fell to pieces in the eight and had nothing left.

I'm not saying it's perfect. It's still very hard to get away from GOOD aggressive guys. but for me the formula that works best is to be very conservative with punch output.
I hear ya, but to me, if I'm getting hit by 45% of my opponents shots, in my mind, my defense isn't where it should be. I'll be the first to say it, if a guy charges at me with a flurry, I'll usually just back out of the way. I do the same thing when I box in real life (or side-step 'em). I can see how this might be misconstrued as "running," but to me, it's just being evasive and using distance wisely. Having said that, if I'm fighting someone who stays in the pocket and looks for shots, I am usually standing in the pocket with them. At all times, I am trying to keep my opponent at the end of my jab until I see an opening to come in with a power shot or a combo. The problem is that often times I need to step back to keep that precise distance, and every time I do that, I lose stamina.

Earv, you kinda have me warming up to the new patch. I may have to give it a try. Now that I think about it, you shouldn't be moving straight back anyway, that's a recipe for disaster in real life, so penalizing it in the game isn't all that bad. I still think the penalty is too high, but at least it forces people to box, step off, and weave more. Although, the last time I played FNC, maybe a month ago, it seems like my stamina tanked from a lot of body movement, bobbing and weaving. Not sure if that's still the case or not...

Also, as far as reducing a fighters retreating speed. If they did that, then we would be right back at the last FN, where you couldn't get away from anyone and had to brawl. At least here, you can disengage at will, albeit you will be penalized for it.

Anyway, I see a bunch of brand new copies online for around $22, so I guess it's worth the try now.

My defense is bad. I don't know if it's because I'm not responsive enough or what but my defense is my weakness for sure.

Mine too. I wish the regular "blocking" was more "gauageable".

If they didnt penalize someone for constantly moving backwards and never engaging, no one would ever fight. I've been playing this game before this patch and trust me it was horrendous. Imagine standing in the middle of the ring waiting for your opponent to engage with you and he lays on the ropes for the entire round and does not come forward AT ALL.

YES, that was happening in this game before that patch. Now the patch forces you to fight instead of running away. It's more of a way to counter the videogameness(i know thats not a word but w/e) of Fight Night Champion.

Dont listen to these guys. In no way does the patch FORCE you to COME FORWARD, but it does force you to FIGHT. I fight on the outside, pick my shots, box clean, get in and out, and I have been enjoying picking a part my opponents since the patch dropped. Careless punching will result in more stamina loss.....I just dont get how you guys can call yourselves boxing fans and fail to see the beautiful mental game this patch brings to FNC.
I completely agree with you brah. I really feel that most of the complaints come from players who where runners, spammers or a combination of both. They just don't want to admit it because they know that fighting that way is a cheap way to play, so in turn they blame the game intstead of blaming themselves. I play this game religously ( not proud but hey lol), which means I seen every type of fighter/player. Most of the players online are runners or spammers, very rarely do I get a " sim match". I fight about 10 matches a day on my off time ( I know I know, love this game tho), and literally out of that 10 I may get 1 sim match. Getting a sim match in this game is very rare, if you get one I would suggest go buying a lottery ticket afterward cuz you might win.

Now that these player are forced to fight and not put on their track shoes, and fight from thier back they don't know what to do with themselves. I'm happy that this patch is out, I was tired of having to being the only one trying to engage in a fight, if I didn't then the guy would SERIOUSLY hit me wit one jab and run to the ropes and run the whole match. So I say "OH WELL, SO SORRY" now the tables have turned you guys actually have to box now. OH and I like the word "VIDEOGAMNESS" lol. I use that all the time, I tell player they didn't out box me they just out videogamed me lol.

                    Fellas,

I haven't been able to download this yet as I'm traveling for work so I was hoping a few questions could be answered.

I haven't heard definitive answers on the following.

                    - Is the jab "effective" for keeping distance or does your opponent walk right through them?

                    - Define "running". I like to box from the outside, move my head, and use angles. When you say "running", I hope that doesn't mean creating distance and making my opponent reset his feet. I just envision rock-n-sock 'em boxing now. I don't jab, jab...***n for 20 seconds...jab, jab. I just don't want to be fighting chest-to-chest all fight either. If the jab is indeed ineffective then the game is ruined. A boxing game without an effective jab is, well, not boxing. Please clarify.

                    - Does the user lose stamina quickly for side stepping, back stepping, head movement or is the stamina loss only effect so called "runners"? I want defense to matter. I don't want to lose 50% stamina in 3-4 rounds for fighting defensive.

                    - Is there or is there not cuts and bleeding like there was when the game launched? I've heard yes and I've heard no.

                    - I've heard mixed reviews on the judges. Are you guys seeing better scoring, the same, or worse? Again, some are saying better and some are saying they're getting robbed. Which one is it?

                    Thanks in advance.

The over-all argument for me that outweighs every argument is: Is body spamming worse/harder to combat online? If so the game is a waste of time and strategy is useless. I refuse to conform to these idiots buy doing all sorts of unrealistic arcade moves just to beat a douche bag.

I'm like Meth.. I don't run, but I pick my shots. If I'm being flurried or body spammed to death, I usually try to double tap backwards and pick my shots. I also circle. I try to fight realistically. At times though timing is difficult online because there is even more input lag. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this. Anyway, If the offline game has gotten better, maybe I'll stay there for the life of this game. Online sounds like it's turned into a joke that caters to cheesers.. I'll check it out though.

-From what i've seen the jab is still effective. I use it alot since im an outside fighter. I like to keep distance and it does a good job for me.

-Running is constantly moving backwards and never coming forward AT ALL. If your opponent even gets within 2ft of you and you move back, then you are running.

-Stamina is lost from stepping but you only lose a lot if you constantly step.

-From what i've heard, blood and cuts and TKO's are back. However, i havent seen any because i only play OWC.

-Judging is way better. Judges score more points for clean, effective punching and damage done, rather than on punch output or high percentages.

-People still body spam online but the tactic is almost completely ineffective now if you know what you are doing. Moving away from body spammers will not deplete all of your stamina. I use movement in all of my fights and usually end the fight with about 60% stamina left.

I'd like to know of the way you render body spamming useless.. without it sacrificing enjoyment. It's one thing to fight a body spammer and beat him with good timing and skill. It's another to thing to just do rinse repeat tactics, to combat cheese. Then it's almost like you're stooping to their level.

For what it's worth.. I believe you are being sincere. If you want to make a tutorial on how to beat this.. or video, show me/us. But don't just say it can be countered without any explanation whatsoever.

The patch still did not fix:

                              PS3 Version

1.) Legacy mode crashes with CAB's
2.) If you import CAB's they have Ray Mercer's face on Angel Manfredy's CAB body

No one wants to fight Sugar Ray Klitschko a 5'8" white middleweight ala EA Sports generic fighters in Legact mode. THE IMPORT OF CAB IN LEGACY MODE MUST BE FIXED

I only really play offline, and Legacy mode, so in my opinion until this is fixed it is a useless game

Also I only play fight now really. Setting up matches with CABs and the licensed boxers. I think it was phillyfan23 who mentioned editing the boxers too. Anyone have suggestions for that?
Just picked up the game again. Am interested in slider settings as well. Actually, do the sliders even work?
