I completely agree with this. That is why I always thought that the players style should affect the overall and more the way they play in the game (Especially when simulating). A playmaker with 99 in passing, puck control, dekeing and off. awareness is an elite playmaker, but the fact that he can have a low shooting attribute will make him only a 80 overall. If it takes in account that the player is suppose to be a playmaker, then he should be a 88, maybe 90 overall player in its style, but if you change it to a sniper, his overall will go down a lot. Mostly like in madden I think. That way, it would be easier to see who's a great passer and who's not. Or at least, make 6 general overalls for each players to ease it up : Playmaking, shooting, defensive play, physical play, skating and intangibles. Then, tweak the ratings from that : A playmaker would have his overall consisting of 40% playmaking, 10% shooting, 10% defensive play, 10% physical play, 15% skating and 15% intangibles, for example (These are just numbers to illustrate my POV), whereas and all around player would likely be 15%-15%-20%-10%-20%-20%.
Also, I just hope the new sim engine will fix the playmakers with "okay" attributes in shooting to get like 60 or 70 assists a year, just like H. Sedin. I don't know why, but usually, if your player is an amazing sniper but a poor settler, he'll still have like 50 or 60 assists while the one that allows him to score will only get 50 points. It happens a lot like this with the twins in 11.
