    Re: Just Win Baby!

The Offense is built off the Jets Offense, which is the smallest playbook, and then I added some plays -wishbone plays, and took out a few. Did a few more cuts at the beginning of training camp. I will start adding stolen plays this season.

The Defense is built off the 4-2-5, but will almost all the zone plays cut, and a few man blitzes added. I will bulk it up to around 25 plays by adding stolen plays. I've considered modifying the exsisting plays (Change Storm Red to a Man Coverages scheme instead of a Zone scheme, In LOLB Blitz have the FS in Man Coverage and freeing up the MLB to blitz, Moving the FS in the 4-2-5 Free Safety Blitz, etc.) If I do that, it would almost double the playbook size putting it at around 30 plays.

I've always preferred smaller playbooks. It is a lot easier to learn, and a lot easier to grab the play I want during a game.

What size of playbooks do you guys use?

          Week 5

          Raiders (4-0) @ Chiefs (1-3)

With OAK QB Ken Dorsey out for the game witn an injury, the game plan is simple, run the ball with HB Justin Fargas.

          1st Quarter

OAK HB Justin Fargas goes for a 69yd TD on the first offensive play of the game.

          OAK 7 KC 0

Backup QB Andrew Walter finds a wide open WR Kevin Robinson on the out route. TD!

          OAK 14 KC 0

          2nd Quarter

It is all Oakland in this one. QB Andrew Walter is doing his best to create a QB controversy by finding WR David Tyree for a 49yd TD

          OAK 21 KC 0

QB A. Walter adds another TD to yet another WR, this time finding WR Ronald Curry for a 39yd TD strike

OAK 28 KC 0 at the half

          3rd Quarter

The Raiders add a 45yd FG by K Matt Prater.

          OAK 31 KC 0

          4th Quarter

KC finally shows some life. HB Larry Johnson goes 80 yards on a pitch play for the TD

          OAK 31 KC 7

KC recovers a fumble setting up a 7yd strike from QB Pennington to WR Bam Childress. 2pt Conversion fails.

          OAK 31 KC 13

KC can't get the ball back and Oakland is content to run out the clock.

OAK 31 KC 13 Final- The Raiders have swept the Chiefs for the 2nd year in a row and are sitting a top the AFC West with a record of 5-0.

          Key Perfomers

          OAK QB2 Andrew Walter 8/12 for 168yds 3 TDs
KC QB Chad Pennington 16/25 for 134yds TD, Int

OAK HB Justin Fargas 45 for 290yds TD
KC HB Larry Johnson 7 runs for 82yds TD

OAK WR Ronald Curry 4 catches for 84yds TD
KC WR Dwayne Bowe 4 catches for 42yds

OAK FS Michael Huff 5 tackles, TFL, Sack, Int
KC OLB Derrick Johnson 17 tackles, 3 TFL

Time of Possession: OAK 43:03/16:51 KC

            Raider Resignings

The Raiders priority was to resign OLB Thomas Howard, and they got it done with very little effort. Howard agrees to a 6yr deal worth $36.5M with an $18M bonus.

HB Chris Johnson signs a 2yr Deal worth $1M with $500K incentive for starting 16 games, and $500K for a 1000yd season

FB Justin Griffith signs a 2yr deal worth $940K with a $500K bonus

RG Eric Winston agrees to a 6yr deal worth $7.8M with a $1M bonus

Undrafted Rookie Free Agent RT Charlie Gill gets a pay raise when he signs a 6yr deal worth $5.8M with a $1M bonus

DE Kabeer Gbaja Biamilia can't come to terms with GM Al Davis, but the team is definitely interested in keeping the DE as a situational pass rusher.

OLB Sam Williams agrees to a 2yr deal worth $1M no bonus

MLB Bobby Carpenter agrees to a cut rate deal of 3yrs for $1.1M and a $500K bonus

Undrafted Rookie Free Agent turned starting ROLB, Duane Beal gets a 6yr deal for $11.9M with a $2M bonus. Not bad for the kid from Elon College.

Former starting ROLB Leon Williams can't agree on a deal, but the Raiders would like to bring him back if the price is right.

SS Stuart Sweigert is looking for a deal that will triple his base salary. Sweigert sees plenty of action in the 4-2-5, but the Raiders aren't sold on his man cover skills, and may let him become a free agent at the end of the season. Expect the Raiders to shake up their backups in the secondary...word is CB DeMario Minter may get the start at SS2 in the game vs. the Jaugars.

K Matt Prater takes a bit of a pay cut to get another year added to his deal. Prater who so far seems to have solved the Raiders kicking troubles, signs a 2yr deal worth $2.6M with no bonus.

Wow! I saw in Ebongreen's thread that you try to call each play only once a game...that's quite a feat.

I might have to try that after I bulk up the plans a little, but for now I stick with my 10% rule.

Well i dont call every play every game. But having a full book gives me more choice so its easier to call each play once per game only

                  Week 6

                  Jaguars (2-2) @ Raiders (5-0)

(*changed the sliders so both CPU and User are the same, going with the User #'s, so some pretty low #'s....I did this after something I read in one of Ebongreen's posts...wanted to see what the result would be. It will need more testing, but it definitely created more of a struggle.)

                  1st Quarter

The Raiders offense struggles, but CB DeAngelo Hall returns an interception for a 29yd TD.

                  OAK 7 JAX 0

                  2nd Quarter

JAX WR Malcolm Kelly breaks a tackle and goes 62yds for the TD.

                  OAK 7 JAX 7

Oakland takes back the lead one play later when KR Josh Cribbs goes 94yds through a pack of defenders for the Kickoff Return TD.

                  OAK 14 JAX 7

JAX CB Resean Mathis ties the game when he intercepts OAK QB Ken Dorsey and returns it 90yds for the TD.

OAK 14 JAX 14 at the half

                  3rd Quarter

OAK QB Ken Dorsey gets a little bit of redemption after throwing 3 INTs in the first half, when he hits WR David Tyree for a 7yd TD.

                  OAK 21 JAX 14

Jacksonville roars right back and ties the score with a 5yd run by HB Maurice Jones-Drew.

                  OAK 21 JAX 21

                  4th Quarter

OAK goes for it on 4th and Goal at the 2yd line and it pays off when backup HB Chris Johnson goes in for the TD.

                  OAK 28 JAX 21

OAK QB Ken Dorsey finds WR Kevin Robinson on the out route for a 16yd TD.

                  OAK 35 JAX 21

The Jaguars move the ball effectively, but opt not to go for the 4th down conversion on a 4th and 3, basically conceding the game.

OAK 35 JAX 21 Final- The Raiders remain undefeated and host the 1-5 Broncos next week.

                  Key Performers

                      Raider Resignings

The Raiders agree to an extension with DE Derrick Burgess. DE Burgess who had an unbelievable year in 2008 with 34 sacks agreed to come extend his deal at a discount agreeing to a 2yr deal worth $5.8M with a $1M bonus. You have to think that if became a free agent, he could of made way more than that. His new deal ranks him as the 20th best paid player at LE, earning $4M less than the top paid guy (Jets DE Shaun Ellis who managed a meager 6 sacks last season)

MLB Kirk Morrison may not be the starter anymore, but Coach Joslin still feels he's valuable, especially with the all the sets using 2 Middle Linebackers. Morrison gets a 5yr deal worth $13.9M with a $5.5M bonus.

DE Kabeer Gbaja Biamilia may be getting old, but the Raiders think that he has enough gas in the tank to be a solid backup and situational pass rusher for them. Biamilia gets a 2yr deal for $1.9M and no bonus

There was a lot of debate about what the Raiders would do with QB Andrew Walter. Would they keep him? Could they afford to keep him? Would Walter be willing to backup Ken Dorsey for another year? Well the answers are the Raiders want him to stay, he's willing to stay and for a price that Raiders GM Al Davis could stomach. Walter signed a 2yr deal worth $3.8M with a $500K bonus.

Despite some injury concerns the Raiders agreed to an extension for C Damien Woody. Woody agrees to a 3yr deal woth $2.1M

Undrafted Rookie Free Agent TE Sedrick Kaye gets a big time payday. Kaye got a 6yr deal woth $14.7M with a $4M bonus. The rookie now makes over twice what starter Zach Miller makes...that can't make Miller happy.

Despite losing his job to undrafted rookie free agent Duane Beal, the Raiders still feel that OLB Leon Williams has some value. They were happy to lock him up with a 3yr deal worth $4.4M with a $2.5M bonus

OLB Barry Red also got a new deal, 2yr $1M

Undrafted Free Agent Rookie HB Leron Gabriel has priced himself out of a job. Gabriel's agent Tom Condon is reported to be seeking a long term deal that will pay his client in the neighborhood of $1.5M a year, well above what the Raiders are paying 2nd round pick HB Jamel Keddington or free agent acquisition HB Charles Johnson. Gabriel's unreasonable demands may open the door for HB Dantrell Savage who many thought to be expendable after the Raiders drafted Keddington and picked up Johnson and Gabriel to backup starter HB Justin Fargas.

CB Fabian Washington is looking for a new deal that will pay him in the neighborhood of $3.5M a year, but the Raiders aren't intrested siting his poor man to man skills. "If you can't play man defense, we don't need you.", said Coach Joslin.

SS Stuart Sweigert looks to be on his way out as well. Sweigert is a malcotent, never happy with Coaches and quite frankly Coach Joslin has had enough of it. Sweigert has been inactive for the last few games with converted CB Demario Minter getting the start in his spot. Minter isn't a natural safety, but has far better Man Cover skills.

The Raiders have a few more guys they'd like to resign: LT Torrin Tucker, RG Jeb Terry, RT Andrew Crummey, SS Demario Minter, WR Bryant Johnson, and possible HB Dantrell Savage.

                                Out for the Season

At the halfway mark, injuries are clobbering NFL teams as usual. MLB Antonio Pierce of the Giants, Fred Taylor of the Seahawks, Jamal Lewis of the Browns, Matt Birk of the Falcons and other important players already have sustained injuries that sent them to injured reserve. Other big-name players also soon might go on the IR list. The annoying thing is that even if the wounds to any players on injured reserve heal -- some might be ready to play in a few weeks -- they can't return, because being placed on injured reserve means you're done for the season. Those on injured reserve receive full pay for the season, but are forbidden to dress again that season regardless of whether they recover. Which raises the question: Why does injured reserve exist at all?

                                Players on Injured Reserve:

                                CLE DE Bertrand Berry
                                CLE HB Jamal Lewis
