Re: tecmo super nba basketball snes
Reggie Lewis.
I never had Tecmo Super NBA Basketball because I didn't have an SNES. I had to settle for the routine Tecmo NBA Basketball for NES, though I think they were virtually the same. I had a lot of fun with that series. I remember taking a club (possibly the Kings) all the way through a season when my brother dared me to simulate the rest of the Finals I'd reached. I simmed, I lost, I cried.
The cool news is that this was my first real NBA game. I had Magic Johnson's Fast Break before this. But Tecmo took it to a new level. They're the primary reason I was able to become so familiar with my favorite player's team (David Robinson's Spurs). Rod Strickland, Sean Elliott, Willie Anderson, Antoine Carr, Terry Cummings - that's Tecmo NBA Basketball talking.Comment

Re: tecmo super nba basketball snes
I still play mine on both the sega and snes but I prefer the snes version. Man that season mode was pure dope. Plus they had plays. Stat tracking. It was a serious serious game. Still enjoyable for me. That is back when you had to bring your imagination with you. Now guys want every pixel to be correct before they can even enjoy the games.Catch me on that #SimNation #SimHangOut Friday's @ 10:00 pm est https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...N7yxMiElOpMl_BComment

Re: tecmo super nba basketball snes
This was a good game regardless of the format. I used to own the NES and SNES versions. Still own the Genesis version.
At the time, Tecmo's basketball game was the only true option on an 8-bit or 16-bit season if you were looking to play a full season with real players, real teams and stats.
I recall a few of the guys were the wrong skin color (which still happens in games today) and some well-known NBA guys who were bald at the time were shown in this game as having a full head of hair.
Otherwise it was a good basketball game for the time period.Comment

Re: tecmo super nba basketball snes
Was this the one that had Rex Chapman & Larry Johnson on the Hornets? If so, I had a blast with this game for the Genesis. If it's the one I'm thinking of, Chapman was money from downtown. I remember playing games where he hit 10 or more 3-pointers. Man.........this is going waaaaay back. Anyone remember Double Dribble for the Nintendo? I wasted many an hour on that game as well. Good memories.Comment

Re: tecmo super nba basketball snes
i had this game on nes, and rosters and stats were based on the 1991 92 season. no shaq, zo, miner, etc...once nba showdown came out a few months later which was the first game i remember seeing shaq in (and the last for barkley, last for jordan too until live 00) i never touched this game again. my favorite thing to do was sim seasons and look over the scores and players stats. the stats were always spot on, as usual in every tecmo game. tecmo super bowl was the same way. to this day no basketball game has produced more accurate sim stats than tecmo nba.Comment
