To me as programmer, it seems like it should be simple... but as I'm sure there code is quite complex by the miriad of problems we see, it's probably not. Everything looks correct in the edit menu. There is a trigger somewhere in the code that is telling it do the opposite on the roster screen. That new label there causes problems in game. Sim results appear not to be affected with further research, but I'm not ready to confirm that. I want to do some more testing myself, but with slow menus, it gets old fast, but I will do some more later.

Then you need some perspective. LOL. Its a game and its still playable. Its an annoying glitch but you can still play the game.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 12 Possible Roster Glitch
I really don't want new features every year. I just want a good, simulation-based football game without bugs or glitches, and editing capabilities. Is that really too much to ask for from EA?

I hate this stuff. Finally I've realized, I need to wait for NCAA Football next year. I won't buy it at launch, if I even buy it all.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 12 Possible Roster Glitch
The numbers dont back that up. The games sales last year didnt drop significantly from two yrs ago. Also one Gamestop isnt exactly an example of a drop in quality. The past 3 yrs I ran all over town to get the game before release date and paid 10-20 bucks over retail. This yr, I got it from Amazon. Why? Because this year there are other games I'm playing right now that are taking up my time (like the Show). It had nothing to do with the quality of the game.Huge to you is different than others. The majority of my OD refuses to play until this is fixed. Nobody wants to play a 70 speed QB and watch him try to run 15 times a game, but have a speedster not use his natural athleticism to help his team out. Might not be broken, but it definitely has a major effect on gameplay.
On blaming the consumers: People probably shouldn't go get this on release day anymore, but you think that a company as large as EA could avoid releasing a broken game every year. Are we morons for buying it? Yes. But that doesn't give the company an excuse to put out a broken product. Look at the backlash over NASCAR 2011. You want to tell me that company hasn't lost a ton of respect and money due to that fiasco? EA has been heading this way. Many people are now just waiting and buying the game used instead of on release day.
OS customers are a different breed than the majority. We get it on release day because we're college football and college football gaming junkies. We will suffer through a broken game and play it because it's our only way, with the exclusive contract EA has. Plenty of people I know that used to go out at midnight to pick up the game have stopped and now buy it used. The midnight release at my local GameStop has gone from 150 people to about 35 in the past 3 years. For 11, I showed up at 11:30 and got my game at 12:20. This year, I showed up at 11:45 and got it at 12:03. People aren't going out in droves anymore to pick it up like they used to because the quality isn't there. Only the hardcore people, like OS members, are.
Also the Nascar comparison doesnt apply. That game came out in April, right? And still no patch in July. This patch will be out in Aug/Sept around the time the patch is always released.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 12 Possible Roster Glitch
I hate the wait, but maybe they should push the release date back to late July/early August. Those extra couple weeks could make a big difference. Patches seemed like they would change "next gen" gaming but in fact they probably made it worse. Maybe I was oblivious, but I don't remember these major bugs during the PS2 days.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 12 Possible Roster Glitch
I think you and I have a different view on reality. Me? I'm not sure I've ever asked for a new feature. I've asked for custom playbooks and formation subs. IF you want to get technical, we'll say new to this gen. And funny enough, I see more people ask for hair/shoe/equipment/etc variety than new features. I see more the oposite, I see people complain about them always adding new features and not fixing the core gameplay. Hm....that tradition seems to be alive and kicking. For me? I'll just use numbers. For those like Dkrause and Gater and the other community guys that spent hours on these, I don't think anyone can blame them for wanting to spit on this game. Here is the reality: You guys want new features every year right? Well alot of times when they add new features or fix issues from the previous year....things get broken. EA would have no problem at all just giving you NCAA 07 every year with updated rosters if people were willing to buy it but that isnt the case. So saying "It worked last year" doesnt matter because this is a new game with new features that can sometimes cause big problems.
Every year as these games add more features and become more advanced the likelihood of bugs like this increase. I hope you actually do wait next year but if you dont lets not go overboard with the bitching. You've been warned two years straight now.
I've never tried to bash EA and actually thought they were somewhat kind of turning the corner, but this just makes me realize they aren't. While EA games will go down with some of the best sports games on LG, sadly, they'll have a lot more of the bad games this gen.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: NCAA Football 12 Possible Roster Glitch
You are a very small minority. This board would be flodded with people complaining about the game if they gave you the same features as last year. The Madden board folks are pissed that nothing was added to Online Franchise for that game.Comment

I think patching as a whole has made it worse. It's now ok to ship games out with issues knowing they can try and write over the mistake in a month or soI hate the wait, but maybe they should push the release date back to late July/early August. Re: NCAA Football 12 Possible Roster Glitch
That's a different animal. Online Franchise is a bare bones as it can be. It's now in it's third year. Not to mention w/ League Manager they essentially have blueprint in front of them to add more, yet not one thing was touched. I feel that's a fair gripe, but not a fair comparison to this.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: NCAA Football 12 Possible Roster Glitch
Don't get me wrong. I love Dynasty, RTG, etc. but I don't see why EA should work on all these new, fancy features until they actually get solid gameplay (No morphing, sliding into position, "ice-skating running animations", etc.). THEN you can focus on making the game pretty & attractive. Also, I don't care how much testing they have to do; FIX THE DAMN BUGS/GLITCHES.

Re: NCAA Football 12 Possible Roster Glitch
Never said it wasnt a fair gripe but you cant have it both ways. Online Franchise in its self was a new feature a few years back and any addition to that is a new feature. You cant say "I want this and this added to OF" or "I want Dynamic Lighting" and then get mad if its not perfect out of the door. Those new features can sometimes cause glitches. You cant compare this gen to last gen because its different (and more complicated) hardware and software plus games with more features. Because of that these things tend to happen. That's a different animal. Online Franchise is a bare bones as it can be. It's now in it's third year. Re: NCAA Football 12 Possible Roster Glitch
Like my advisor always says, NEVER EVER add too much in at once (and put in lots of comments... which might be an issue as well). It seems that is the problem with these games. They want to shout "New new new!!!" so people will buy and we'll post for weeks on here and guys will go out for hours a week early trying to get a copy, and things occur in the shuffle and at that point, it is too hard to fix. And then we have this situation.
I'm with many of these guys: give me good sim football. Custom conferences is cool, but outside of that, I want a good game of football. Get that right, then give me some more cool things. I have not touched custom playbooks once? Why, lack of interest encouraged further by more bugs. I have 120+ playbooks to choose from as it is. I can find one to make me happy. But I can't make a custom playbook because there is too much risk for error. The same thing is liable to happen to my historical conference lineups before long, but I think I'm saved by many indepedents and small conferences for a several decades.Comment
