Hmmm, don't you press the Left stick right and hold triangle. That's how I do it anyways. Left stick points to the runner you want to send, the buttons correspond to the base you want him to head to.Comment

What you are describing is an early steal and he was describing a cued steal.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Depends on what baserunning mode you are using, but for 'classic': hold down L2 and move the right stick to the right (1st base)... meaning, you are selecting which runner you want to attempt to steal.

 This. For 'new' baserunning mode.

 You have things mixed up.

There are two styles of base running, "classic" and "default" (which used to be called the "new base running" for multiple years). RTTS also has its own set of base running commands as well.

Classic uses the face buttons and the directional buttons. So for stealing purposes, the command would be L2 + the base icon. For an early steal the command would be the directional button + the base icon.

The default base running uses the left stick to target runners not the right stick. So to steal second the command would be to move and hold the left stick toward the right targeting the runner at first. Continue holding the stick in that direction and press L2. It is important to do it in this manner because if you follow the instructions it tells you to press L2 + Left stick. What that does is activate all runners to steal because it reads the L2 command first!
To early steal in this mode you would would target the runner with the left stick and press the base icon of the base you want to swipe.Last edited by nemesis04; 07-24-2011, 10:05 AM.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

What if you have this situation but you are the pitcher. Can you fake to 1st and throw to 3rd?Comment

With Right handed pitchers you can do the deceptive third to first move because the runner at first is the one who has the happy feet. There is no 1st to 3rd move.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Tried this last night...and it is indeed a early steal. Got picked off even before the pitcher got in the windup...so embarrassing.Comment

Re: Runners on 1st/3rd: I want the runner on 1st to steal 2nd

I'm not big on that move, but I think if you have "fake throwing" enabled, you can pick-off to 1st, then once it switches to fielding view, tap 1st again to cancel the throw and throw to 3rd instead... not 100% sure as I don't use that.

I don't think there's a command to officially fake a pick-off and throw to another base instead (all with one command).Comment
