Re: Staff Roundtable: How Are We Feeling About NCAA Football 12 Now?

I don't understand why so many people get fired up when people like myself and Odogg say we're having great times with the game. This game is easily the best football gme I've ever played. Does it have problems? Definitely, there is no doubt about it.

I can see why some people are bummed out and are ready to sell the game off, but that's not me. I am having fun with it besides all the problems. EA finally nailed the gameplay down for the most part. When my biggest complaint about the gameplay is the occasional LB that jumps up and tips the pass, then that's a great sign.

For me, EA just needs to fix the tendencies bug, fix the custom playbooks bug, fix coach's progression, and fix the awareness of DB's and WR's on passes and I'll be playing this and MLB 2k11 all the way up to NCAA 13 and MLB 2k12.

The gameplay is there, the features are there, and the modes are there. They all just need a patch that polishes up everything and makes everything run smoothly. I'd like to see LB's with lower jump ratings so everyone would be quiet about it, but I could care less about it because I really don't have any problems with the so called "super LB".

My problems have already been stated in this post: CPB bug, tendencies, bug, coach progression, and DB/WR awareness on passes. That's it. I know that will be impossible for some of you to believe, but that is honestly all I find wrong with the game.

If all those problems are ironed out, then NCAA 13 would just need to build onto Dynasty, Presentation, and Graphics. Yes, they would need to make gameplay even better, but let's be honest, the engine(s) they're using are about as good as they are going to get. That's a shame because there is so much I think they could do with football games on these consoles still, but it's not like the games are terrible. They aren't, the football games we have(NCAA 12) and are getting(Madden 12) look to be the best NFL and NCAAF games we've ever had the chance to play.

There is still going to be those out there who will put NCAA 06 and ESPN NFL 2k5 on a pedestal, but you have that with every product and they are always going to blindly hate whatever new is coming out. Now I am not saying those games were not good, because, well, 2k5 was my favorite game up until NCAA 11 came out, but I can easily tell you that it's dated and there is now way it's better than EA's latest offerings.

And wow, I really kept on rambling for no reason at all....l

Re: Staff Roundtable: How Are We Feeling About NCAA Football 12 Now?

Ive been playing this game as long as ANYONE. I think its lack of competition! Who else makes College or Pro football games? ( Go ahead and think....Ill wait) I dont know Specifically which older NCAA & Madden titles are my favorite, but I know 2 things about them.

      #1. They where older
#2. EA still had competition ( was it 2k sports? )

How can EA sit there and get the mass's excited over mediocrity?
Outside a couple new animations, this is last years game with updated rosters!

If EA game developers was as good as EA marketers, about 75% of this thread would have different comments.

Idk this for a fact, but I would guess football is the most bought sports game out? If not its surely high on the list. So if I want a football game who am I going to buy from?

I feel like EA is sittin back collecting revenue and thinking " Lets make what we have to make and do what we gotta do to break the bank" That is make a 'cheap' game that the mass's are going to flood to. Once we've bought it you've got what you wanted and we've got bugs and glitchs! Say heres a swell idea. How bout you make a BETA!? Give the community time to find your flaws AND still have time to fix a majority of them before the release. When the game comes out a patch should be coming out.

I see potential...overshadowed by a Empire that honestly doesnt care to much what we think!

This is basically how I feel too, except that I'm not seeing an issue with the DB/WR awareness. I'd like to see a few tweaks in Coaching Carousel but otherwise I'm enjoying the hell out the game.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

i totally agree with both of you. i posted a positive comment on this thread yesterday and got scolded immediately. I'm not going to add anything as i will just be repeating what you just posted, but i will say, yes the game has some problems, but it's still fun, and bottom line, that's what matters to me.
except i prefer the show over mlb2K, Lol.

The problem is most people don't particulary care about doing it.....they will rely on EA to do it and much like every year EA never does it for them so this complaint is constant all year.

There is no slider in this game that can stop leaping LB's not one single slider is a releated to a players vertical jump ratings

This is not NBA 2K11 where you have a global slider for gameplay to lower verticals

I'm not speaking of you but the leaping LB's out cry's really get old especially when you have like 2-3 guys on these boards who have explained how to fix the issue. It's not the best way to go about it because it takes time but hey if people truly wanted to fix it and not see it then they would take action on their own otherwise they will be on here all year complaining the problem

I'm not a game developer, bro. I don't have the time or desire to sit there and methodically make all those edits, nor do I feel that I should have to in order to make the game more playable. But, it is what it is. The same story, the same arguments here and on similar forums year after year. I've just accepted that things are not likely to change any time soon as far as game play, and am content to rent the game, play a dynasty or two until the real season starts, and move on to better things. It's not a terrible game by any means, but it's disappointing seeing these same issues each year (along with new ones), and disheartening IMO to read all these people apparently willing to not only dismiss the issues, but also bash others who try and present these issues to developers.

How long do we have to wait/sink money into this franchise before they are "on track"? Seems like they have been "on the right track" for so many years now.

I'm not totally disgusted with this game, because I am still playing it and mildly enjoying it. However, it's clear EA's NCAA team cares more about adding half-assed features than fixing "under the hood" mechanics of the game. That is a business model I won't get burned by anymore. Definitely waiting on Madden this year because of it.
I've been hearing that right track quote since the Reggie Bush cover (which is still in my top 5 all-time list of games lol). By the way, Mass Effect 2 is the first game I will never trade back, ever.

i'm not saying give them a free pass but they have done a solid a job with NCAA 11 and 12

I do expect more but i can clearly see that the last two installments of the game have far exceeded NCAA 07 through NCAA 10 versions

At some point i will get back into NCAA 12 but right now there's just too many crazy things going on with rosters, CPU AI pass defense (deep) and once again their lack of intelligence when running the Option offense.

EA might be able to fix about 2 out of 3 of those problems in the next 1-2 months

Until then i'm hoping they don't kill my spirits with Madden 12

Bro, I gotta agree here. Look, I agree EA needs to be notified that there is a bug in the game. But every little thing has now been called a game killer, when it truely isn't.

And people seem to assume if something doesn't work for them, it's a glitch. Or if something has changed (CPU electing to receive the ball at the start of the second half) it's a glitch. I love this game.

lol once again a BETA would have fixed top issues with the game. Buuuuut it IS EA we are talking about and we the consumers dont deserve it lol

The only defense I have for EA is, That maybe Im too knowledgeable about football in general. This IS a video game and theres nothing they can do to please everybody.

Buuuuuut at the same time it is Year 2011 and there making mistakes that a Monopoly shouldnt make. I HATE Black Opts, but it seems like every time I watch T.V or at my XBox dashboard I see these ' Resurgent Packs' with new maps etc. Why is this? Because they care about the consumer and try to keep things fresh. There smart enough to know that there NOT the only army game out there and if they slip up/get lazy ppl will go else where. Soooo not the case for EA. You dont like there product...Dont play football. With football what it is THEY WILL get what they set out to do. So until they have competition there more or less gonna sit-around just doing enough to get by. Sad but true. The truth hurts

Honestly I dont even know of names of the ones Ive played, but I have played them.

Just so we all know: Beta version is for testing purpose, If any bugs occurs they will fix them during beta version.

I know army games have done this and ENCOURAGE people to find any bugs and glitches. You know map glitchs, make sure you cant morph into walls and such. Make sure the gameplay is smooth etc.

Ultimately thats what they want, For as many errors removed before the release OR at least to know what you need to be working on up to the point the game IS released.

I know people will sit around just to find glitchs in the system (nerds) and that WILL happen, I know that and not arguing that fact. But just look at this forum. Id say, for the sake of easy math, 95% of the ppl with NCAA 12 know there is inexcusable problems with it. They been making these games for HOW LONG now? ( idk and would honestly like to know) Just look at all the problems its absolutely pitiful.

You guys are Naive to think EA is going about things the right way.

Whole forum FULL of problems and complaints. Im not gonna say Everyone has a valid argument or point, but why does it seem like I'm the only one who thinks EA is gypping us. 10+ yrs in the bizz and this is the best they can do?
